Looked at a Google Earth photo of MVR from Feb 2018 - all the greens and surrounds look like they've been heavily sanded, or the greens have had turf removed and are in the process of being rebuilt.

Don't know if they'll use the original green design specs or if the designer they hired (who used to be with Nicklaus' firm) will tweak them a little bit.

Fairway and greenside bunkers also look like they are being maintained in the photo, and have not reverted to the wild.

Recent article dated 8/23/18:

http://mvranchgolfclub.com/the-press-enterprise.html

This article states that target for re-opening 18 holes is the end of 2018.

Thanks for the info. Looking forward to adding another course to my groups rotation, we’ve lost so many last few years.

Shuttered Moreno Valley Ranch golf course could reopen in April
Because of an extensive clubhouse renovation, the work is taking longer.

The resurrection of the Moreno Valley Ranch golf course is taking longer than expected.

The favored course of many golfers on Moreno Valley’s east side that closed in August 2015 may reopen in April instead of the end of 2018, officials working on the project said.

Eric Heffner, director of real estate development for Bridge Investment Group, which is spearheading the $100 million project, said Friday, Jan. 18, that the clubhouse renovation is “more extensive than we thought it was going to be.”

“We just kept on finding more and more things that needed to be done,” Heffner said.

As a result, he said, the remodeling is taking more time.

The facility also was hit by a spate of vandalism over the summer.

Last June, when the Moreno Valley City Council approved the project, Heffner estimated the course would open by the end of 2018.

Neighbor Rose Baldwin, who has been closely following the renovation, wasn’t surprised by the delay.

“I knew it wasn’t going to open on time,” Baldwin said.

Still, she said a spring opening would be nice because people could resume playing while temperatures are mild.

“There is still a big buzz about it,” Baldwin said. “A lot of people are anxious to play on the course and go to the new restaurant.”

Originally laid out by legendary golf course designer Pete Dye, 27-hole Moreno Valley Ranch is set to re-emerge as an 18-hole course.

In restoring the clubhouse, developers are putting in a high-end restaurant. Also planned for the 112-acre site are a park, an event center for weddings, a 417-unit apartment complex and a Boys & Girls Club facility.
