Nike VRS 3,5,wood
Wednesday February 22, 2012
Needless to say, a 3 wood is likely needless for me. But....if I could only hit it right then I'd be on my way to an eagle on every par 5. An idle dream of the daydreaming golfer, for sure.
I'd been thinking about replacing my trusty Adams fairway wood. My main criteria were shallow face and ability to hit shots from the fairway with the most forgiveness.
Well I went to Roger Dunn and went on the machine. In the past I've found that the machine underestimates my driving distance. My average driving distance is about 230 to 240 yards but the highest I can ever get on the machine with drivers at RD is 195-220.

*drum roll* 250yards. That's right , off the deck 250 yards(the max) but consistently hit between 217 and 240 depending on the quality of my ball striking. Bought it and went out to test it at Harding the next day. Worked as advertised. Even slightly off center hit on 18th left me with a 30 yard chip and easy in.

It's true that a 3 wood is probably a luxury club, but depending on the course (Rustic, or other reachable par 5s it is a great club to have and for me, at least, inspired confidence.

Easy and long... but no feel
Tuesday February 21, 2012
I have been using forged blades and I thought these clubs might help me with accuracy. They were very easy clubs to hit and they were long, due to strong lofts on the clubs, but they lacked the feel. I felt like I was hitting a heavy sandbag and it took the joy out of good golf swing. I returned the clubs for a new forged iron set. I am thinking they are good beginner's clubs.

Burner 2.0 Irons = Pure Fun
Tuesday January 17, 2012
I have used ping eye 2 beryllium copper red dots for 2 decades. these 2.0 burner irons are the closest thing to my old red dots. They are kind of pricey like most clubs, but the feeling at impact is second to none. These beat the R11's in every category.

Bad golfer, good clubs
Friday July 8, 2011
I had been playing on an old set, and finally decided to upgrade my equipment. I am a very high handicap player, so I know that improving my body mechanics will do more to lower my score than any set of clubs ever will. Still, clubs can help.

I checked out most sets on the market today, hitting irons against each other indoors with computer tracking. These hit as long as any of the other high end game improvement sets, and a lot longer than the sets that really emphasize correction over distance. I am easily hitting a club or more longer than my old set, and getting the ball in the air more consistently and hitting straighter.

If you are looking at something more forgiving than blades or the tour-level cavity backs, these clubs are some of the best out there.

Did not need them, had to have 'em
Friday June 17, 2011
I was playing the Cleaveland CG Golds, profesionaly fitted, and liked those very much. Then I made the mistake of picking up one of these and hitting it. Oh man, I bought them right then and there. I have played these for 8 months now and could not be happier. They are a 1/2 to a full club longer and I can shape shots a bit better than the CG's. The look of them is cool too. They just look easier to hit than the other set.
