I had a chance to use my friend's Bushnell V2 laser range finder along with his Sky Caddie SG5 at the same time. I must say, the there is a definitely difference in accuracy between the two. Although it may be a small difference in yardage, some may find it trivial while others find it a deal breaker.

I personally thought the range finder is really easy to use - if you have a steady hand. On the longer Par 4 and 5's, there really is no point in trying to zero in on the flag. Let's face it, if you can hit the ball that far you should be on Tour and not really have to worry about the total distance from tee to green!

I love to play different courses and often new ones. It gets tiresome downloading new courses into the GPS but, the range finder will work at any and all courses. The range finder really shines on approach shots. As long as you can get the flag into the view finder, you will easily get the yardage distance on the first attempt - even with shaking hands!

Either way, I think all golfers should invest in any one of these units. My preference is the range finder because of it's accuracy and not having to download course info. Battery life is great but a spare will cost about $10.00. The V2 is small and compact. I think the Tournament Edition (non-slope) is fine for the casual golfer. I have used this in tournaments and even though no one bothers to verify whether it's legal or not, I have peace of mind knowing that it will suffice.

Since using a laser range finder, my scores have dropped a few strokes just from club selection alone.

Seems very accurate, but it can be difficult hitting the flag from over 230 yards. Battery last a long time (over 15-20 rounds) and I take multiple measurements per hole for me and my playing partners. Wish it used a different crosshair as opposed to a circle...makes it a little harder to be precise. Also, Pinseeker mode works well. Overall, a must have if you want accurate yardage and don't want to have to replace batteries often like GPS units require.
