The staff is always changing lately and new nothing of the rumor that JC is going to take over the operations? The practice facilities are good and always busy. The carts are nice with the GPS which is helpful even if you've played the course for years. The tee boxes were all in nice condition and were seeded. The rough is really thick if you find your balls in the secondary you will be tested to locate them and hit a decent shot. The fairways are all in great shape with a few dry tight lies. The Bermuda turf is starting to turn but still provides decent lies. You will find sections throughout the course that are muddy and need to be played as gur. The traps were all damp and frustrating to hit from. Most traps have ample dark sand and some with small pebbles. The greens are probably a couple weeks away from being in good enough shape to ask rack rates. They were holding shots very nice but all putted at a different speed. Some of the large greens even had different speeds depending on the section of them you found your balls sitting. The overall pace of play here is almost always five hours or more if you do not have an early tee time. There are lots of forced carries and ob on this course which can add to the cost of the greens fees with all of your lost balls. » Close Played a five hour round finally after having been given it by my wife some five years ago. The clubhouse is a modular which does the job. No driving range and/or real practice green. The carts are very basic with no gps or windshields. You'll wish you had a windshield with all the flies, gnats, mosquitoes and bees you encounter on the front nine. The tee boxes were all level and in pretty fair shape with some being a little thin. The rough is really short or missing with the many forced carries from the tee on the front and back. The fairways were all really great with nice coverage and some Bermuda dormant and not. The grass was fluffy enough on most lies except nearer the greens where you find firm tight lies! The fairways do provide for very good roll out on low shots. There were sections of the course that were soggy and muddy from lack of irrigation management. The traps were all damp with some having compact sand and others filled with the decent fluffy stuff. Hitting a shot from the traps can be an adventure. The greens still showed signs of aeration but were not too bad. The greens held shots nicely and rolled pretty well with a bump here and there. The greens had some elevation changes and were all pretty large. Many shots into them can be blind or semi blind and deceiving without having played here before (which we had not). The water does come into play on a several holes with the fairways being sloped towards the hazard. The views and vegetation here reminded me of Twin Oaks and Eagle Crest (Dos Osos) in San Diego county at a much more reasonable rate. I found that booking a tee time here can be difficult especially on the weekends. When we made the turn there were three groups waiting to tee off. The location and course rates do make this a great place to play. Recommended » Close Late morning 4.5+ hour round on an always busy course. The facility and carts are very nice and well kept. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The parking lot has some of the smallest spaces you will ever encounter. The tee boxes were all in pretty good shape but some were a little thin and shaggy. The rough is not long where you find it on the course and allows for a good stroke on the ball. Fairways all had good coverage which really improves on the back nine. Some of the sections throughout the round were a little dry and others a little damp but very playable. The traps were all damp and the fairway bunkers thin and firm. Green side bunkers had good amounts of sand but were also damp. The greens were much slower than usual with less break than most would think. The staff did have the practice greens at the same speed you found on the course which was nice for once. The overall conditions and weekday green fees make this place a great deal in the golf world nowadays. Recommended » Close Played an early Sunday round in under four hours. The course had issues with water which we were aware last time here. What we didn't know and were NOT informed of when we paid for the round was the greens had not been cut in a few DAYS. We asked the marshal on hole seven about this and he said it wasn't his duty? The course has greened up with the water being dumped on it and the late season warm weather. The back tee boxes were all barren with most having NO grass at all. The rough is now very thick again and extremely wet. The fairways are coming back with many places on the course still thin and/or dried out. Most holes still require a foot wedge for a legitimate second shot!! The greens were all WET and had the longest grass I've ever seen on a course in 45 years of playing the game. The traps were all in very bad shape still. Overall the conditions have improved since the last time here with the exception of the long greens. Not sure what the owners think they're doing?? It will be some time before we play here again. » Close Early 4.5 hour round on a surprisingly open course. The staff is friendly and the carts are good but now lack gps. The tee boxes were all level with good coverage but needed to be cut. The rough appears to be changing over to the dreaded kikuyu. The holes where it is present were somewhat dried out from the recent warmer weather. Playing from it was not too difficult in the fairways but green side was another story. The dry Kikuyu was thin around the greens and really hard to play from on touch shots for our group. The traps on most holes have been filled with nice white sand which was fairly compact and easy enough to hit from. The greens were not what you usually find either. The first few greens were bumpy and felt like the top inch or so was floating off the sand underneath? Really weird. As the round progressed the greens returned to almost normal but were slightly slower than the usual quick greens you find. Near the end of the round the greens had what appeared to be worm holes in places that resembled small tine marks, which they were not? Strange condition for the greens which are usually firm and quick. The course continues to provide a good test for golfers at a fair rate. » Close
