Most of the carts do not have windshields which can make for a cold trip around the course if using one. They do allow and have walking rates even on the weekend. The entire course is very flat with many water features which makes walking enjoyable. The tee boxes were all dry, scruffy and full of divots. The rough here is pretty much not present. You might find something similar to rough if you spray one too far from the fairways but most holes have nothing to speak of. The fairways were all dry and patchy for the most part with tight thin lies to hit from. Finding a good lies in the fairways usually requires the use of your foot wedge. The traps are still mostly a hard compact dirt/sand mix with a few having better sand. Most of the traps are damp or filled with runoff which again requires the old foot wedge. The greens were punched about a month ago and are in VERY nice shape with total coverage. The green side sections generally are pretty well kept. The greens were slightly firm with only the best of approach shots finding a spot near their landing area. The speed of the greens was pretty quick with not too many ball marks. There are not many hidden breaks but sometimes you will be surprised with what you don't see. The course might want to consider a name change to GEESE LAKES with the what seems like hundreds of them on almost every hole. There were goose droppings from them on every hole from start to finish even a distance from the water features. The rates and pace of play with the location and two 18 hole layouts make for a good round even with the geese and dry conditions. » Close Another mid morning round on the Oaks/Creek nines this time in 4.5 hours. Not much has changed since last round other than the greens are in fantastic shape and rolling true. The greens had hardly any marks and are near the speed you usually get during a round here. The maintenance crew were all over the course on their mowers because it's Wednesday. It's actually nice to play right after the course has been cut because the lies are near perfect and wayward shots are much easier to locate and hit. The fairways are in fantastic condition with a few holes having quite a bit of unfilled divots from the approach yardage. They were nice enough on the second nine to dump a small outing into the fray without notice which slowed up play the last few holes. Definitely recommended » Close Mid morning 4.5 hour round Oaks/Creek nines on a warm spring day. The staff is tops always and the practice facilities were busy as usual. The tee boxes were all trimmed with the par 3's still being mine fields. Maybe the maintenance crew could fill the numerous divots on the par 3's tees? The golfers surely don't. The rough has finally been cut down to a few inches which allows you to locate your ball. Making a decent shot and advancing your ball from the rough is not likely. The fairways have really filled in perfectly with fantastic coverage and great lies on every hole. Hitting a shot from the nearly perfect fairways is great and some roll out can occur with lower trajectory shots. The traps are all groomed very nice and all had plenty of surprisingly dry groomed sand! The greens all have total coverage and hold shots well. There were hardly any ball marks to be found and they were rolling much quicker than the last round. The speed is almost back to what you would find here in most rounds with some difficult to see lines. The course is in excellent condition and should continue to improve with the warmer weather ahead. Weekday rates are reasonable. » Close Early morning four hour Friday round on a very open course. The staff is very informative and friendly each time here. Still no range just hitting nets and a not so large practice green. The carts are comfortable and equipped with windshields but no GPS. They are still charging very reasonable rates with the redo still in progress. The tee box were all level but somewhat thin and shaggy. There were a couple boxes that were slightly firm making the tee placement difficult. The rough has grown since the last time here and made finding a ball like an Easter egg hunt. The maintenance crew was out mowing the entire course as we played through them at times. The grass clippings and long grass were discouraging. The fairways are filling in with noticeable Kikuyu grass on a few holes which seems to be the ticket. Many golfers neglecting to fill divots on the fairways which is disrespectful to others and hinders the progress of the grounds crew. The lies on the fairways did require a foot wedge at times to get a fair lie but generally the coverage gets better as you progress through the round. The sand traps for the most part had adequate sand which was damp at times. The edges of almost all traps are very shaggy and need attention. The greens had decent coverage with a few having thin/bare spots especially on the first few holes. The condition of the greens was good but the speed was very slow compared to the last round with much less break than you read. The water ponds have definitely filled up and added to the difficulty of play. The location is a little distant for some but definitely worth the drive for those wanting a challenge at a decent rate. » Close Early Friday morning cool and misty round on the Creek/Stone nines. The staff has always been the best here since the 80's when it was called Rainbow Canyon. It's been awhile since playing the Stone nine which has been shortened to a par 35 with the first hole now a par 4. I'm sure those that were having their vehicles damaged in the parking lot had something to do with that! The carts are nice with fairly accurate GPS. The tee boxes were all level with good coverage except for the par 3's which were a real mess of deep divots and spotty grass. The wet rough was extremely thick with fresh cut grass clippings/mounds that made finding a ball in it nearly impossible. If you could find your ball in the rough hitting from it was not fun. The grounds crew was mowing the rough and fairways as we were playing which became slightly bothersome. The freshly cut fairways were a beautiful emerald green with total thick lush coverage. There are many unfilled divots on the fairways usually found from about 150 yards and in on the par 4 and 5 holes. Great coverage of the fairways with the freshly cut grass made for perfect lies and pretty nice roll. The traps are always damp and difficult to hit from every time we play here which is really a bummer. The traps do have good sand and plenty of it but many golfers neglect to rake them. The weekday rates are acceptable and they do offer walking rates for those that like to do that and save some money. » Close
