This course is great. Everything was perfect. Two holes had bad spots on them, but they working very hard to repair them. The customer service was excellent. The marshal came around a couple times to push us. we weren't slow it was the group ahead we were waiting on every hole off the tee then they would disappear when they got to the greens. Great deal with the greenskeeper discount. Only half the price of bears best and a way better course.

This course was in great shape. But in terms of the lay out it was a real disapointment. It is in great shape just expected more from "the Bears Best" i really felt like this was a avg. course. Staff does a great job.

course in great shape. rough is very tough. not super deep but tough to get out of. After the reseeding this course is better than it has been in years. they are doing a nice job here. The customer service on the day of golf was good. When booking the reservation the guy on the phone was a jerk( i think his name was marcus). I felt redemption with the guy in the pro shop he was very nice, unsure of his name. I am not sure what rack rate is (posted as 49 on line)but when i paid i used a bride savings card supposed to be 40% off and they still charged 45 dollars. Didn'T feel like arguing. Overall good day.

I know their are people out their that dont like this course. This course is in really good shape. The people are very freindlyand the staff is great. My 2 complaints would be I would rather play the Back 9 first the the front and i would like to see The rough at a more consistant level. There were too many clumpy patches that made it hard to chip around the green, but i should probably have stayed out of it.

I thought the course was in great shape. there was some bumpie areas on the greens, but other than that it was really. Played with a former mlb pitcher and he played from the blacks drove it 300+ and hit the center of the fairways. kept up with him on the frount 9 from the whites with a 39, then the second round in two days in 100+ degree heat got me. 48 on the back just killed the day. Marshalls were around at least 4 times and kept things going. The group in front of us was terriable and played from the blues. still played in 4 and a quater hours so i really couldnt complain.

played today on a comp round from back in may when we got rained out. To start out i really like playing these courses. they have two really good layouts. When playing there 8 months ago a member told me this is the worst condition the course has ever been in. I felt it was better in may but we only got 9.5 holes before the lightning started, the course seemed to be in better shape then. This time it is right back to 8 months ago. The fairways were 40 % dirt patches which cost a few strokes per side. The sand traps were down right junk. I belive that being in a bunker is a hazard and shouldnt always be rewarded with light fluffy sand, but it seemed like the grounds keepers made a point to do burn outs in the bunkers while they were soaking wet. Big deep tire ruts from sharp turns and some areas where they seemed to rake trenches that your ball would rest in. For the good the greens were really good, a touch long and slow from what i am used to but i did like them. the only reason they didnt get a ten was because there were time the ball seemed to hop off the club face and bounce a little on the way to the hole.

New starter kinda had things a little messed up on the first tee, but it was his first day so i can cut him some slack. The staff was great otherwise. Now for the real problum, the greens. Their email said working through some problums not dead, muddy, lumpy greens. The airifacation was not a problum. They were very upfrount and honest about it. The greens on the frount 9 were almost the worst i have ever played on. The one marshal told me they my close 9 holes to fix it but they are trying. I should have given the greens a 0 but due to some good ones on the back 9, i gave them a 3. The rest of the course was really good a little wet in a few areas but i can understand it. It has been very hot out their.(101 today)

This is a great course. The course was is in good shape bu tthe back 9 was a bit tight. The greens were fun but a bit slow because half of the greens were punched. This wasn't too bad because the pins were all located were the punching had not been done. The other draw back is a couple of the par 5's were very tight and some had blind shots. The layout wasn't too bad as others claimed their were some long drives in between holes but driving them wasnt bad. The course is set up and looks like a an expensive course but shouldnt be more than $60. The real disapointment to the course were the 9th and 18th holes. for as much as the course spent on the clubhouse, couldn't they have designed better finishing holes. That was the only thing that made the course disapointing.

course in good shape except for the greens. they had gotten a lot better about 6 months ago. now they are back to junkie. Many bad spots with no grass. the rest of the course is in good shape. i major change is the 16 th hole. I is going from a longa par 5 to a medium par 4. the new green is just being constructed.

course not in the best condition as i have seen it. Seem to be doing a lot of work on the course. There are always some bare spots on this course but their seemed to be a few more today. Wasn't to hot, pace of play was ok 4.5 hrs. Greens were longer which made the putting easier, i just wasnt used to them being slower. made it hard to get the break right.

Congratulations to all at black gold, you have officially taken a quality golf course and turned it into a local muni. This course is in terrible shape it is all most as bad as Fullerton golf course. the layout is far superior though. I am thinking the price should be officially changed to, um lets say $50. This is definitely the proper price for this course, maybe a little less if you consider past attitudes of the course supervisors. Now for the good news. The starters and the and the "bag boys" were excellent. they were all very nice and polite, big change for the course. The after tournament dinner was excellent, the last tournament i played in their the food was not good. Totally different this time cutos to the management. The only knock with the the dinner was the chef came out after dinner was served to see if everyone liked the food and his white coat was filthy. Probably should look more like he made the food as oppose to wearing it. Definitely good food though.

Good layout very challenging. This is definatly not worth the price. We had a buy one, get free this made it worth it. Fair ways were in good condition, except where they over watered and then the mowers were run all over the areas.
