Played here on 4/28/12. The course is a pretty good desert layout , but does have a few visually deceptive holes. The carts have GPS , which does help a little with these holes. It was in good shape and the greens were excellent. The desert areas are tough to impossible to play out of , so without local knowledge , your forced to play conservative on a number of holes. It has a grass driving range and good practice facilities.

I played Papago on 4/20/12. This course is a nice layout with alot of elevation changes. There are no houses on the course and the setting is beautiful. It can play moderatly challenging or all you want from the black tees at 7300+ . If you like the back tees , the only unusual thing is that you will see 2 very long par 3's. #8 is listed at 253 , but plays into the wind at times and slightly uphill, and if that wasn't enough , is gaurded by a huge bunker. #17 is listed at 243 , but does play a little down hill . The course was in good shape and the greens were rolling pretty fast. There is a good grass driving range and nice practice facilities. It is also set up nicely for those who like to walk.

I played here on 4/11/12. This course is a long time favorite in Tempe , AZ. It gets alot of play and is a good course for all levels of golfers. Probably the only knock on the layout is the forward tees play 5782 , which is pretty long for alot of ladies. The greens were in good shape as they usually are and running medium as usual. Fairways were good with a few brown thin spots here and there. The rough is spotty with bare spots on some holes. The bunkers had new sand and were in great shape. They have a good driving range and good practice facilities. It's also a good walkers course.

I played this course on 4/6/12. I was very disappointed in the condition of the course for this time of year (really for any time). This is an older course and used to be a great place to play. Now it has many dead spots and dirt showing everywhere. Visually the course looks ugly and run down. The greens were so hard , I hit a high trajectory iron shot on #2 that hit in the middle of the green and it bounced so high it landed in someones front yard across the street from the course. Some bunkers had no sand and some had a heavy sand , gravel and dirt mix. I hit second shots out of mud and of hard dirt , both times from what was the middle of the fairway. There was no rough , it was either bare dirt , wood chips or dead grass. There were two fivesomes in front of us that kept the pace slow at times. They did send someone out twice to try and speed up play. But I don't know how a course can book back to back fivesomes and it expect them to play at a good pace. The course layout is about the only positive.

I played this course on 4/5/12. The course is an older, flat, resort style course with houses lining most holes. Many of the holes look the same and the layout is not very exciting. The course conditions were decent , but the greens were just sanded and the sand they used had alot of larger grains that effected the putting. The fairways and rough were pretty good , it was nice to see the rough overseeded. Many of the bunkers were short on sand , which made for inconsistant shots. The staff was friendly , the cart lady did a good job and the pace of play was good. They had a pretty good driving range and practice facilities. All in all a decent place to play , but for the money there are nicer more interesting/challenging courses in the area.

Great driving range ! I haven't played this 9 hole, older course , but the range is worth a review. I was on my way home and stuck in traffic and decided to take a detour. I spotted this driving range and was glad I did. For about $10 , I got a jumbo bucket (125 +) of balls and a beer (beers were $2). A large bucket (100) was around $6.50 . There was quite a few hitting stations , maybe 50. All were grass and many had nice grass. There were plenty of targets and as it got dark the lights came on. I believe they are open to 9 pm every night. I would probably not play this course ,but will definitely be back to the range. 3/30/12

I played here 3/9/12 at 1:00 . I have played here quite a bit because for a great price you get a nice layout with challenging greens , decent length and it's usually kept in good shape even though it gets a ton of play. The big problem with this course is they stack the tee times too close and then there are groups with special privileges (there are alot of golf coaches that bring their students here) that get thrown in to add to the log jam. This day was the worst in a while as we didn't tee off until 1:15 after they inserted 2 groups in front of us. And by the 4th hole there was 4 groups on 1 hole. We quit after a 3 hour nine and sadly I won't be back until the snowbirds are gone ,as this is 3 times in row I've had similar experiences.

I played this course on 3/15/12 at 8:00 am. I loved this course ! First of all , be prepared to lose a couple balls and take a couple 2 stroke penalties the first time you play here. Yes even if your a good golfer. The course has a number of blind and semi-blind shots and most every hole is lined with dense vegetation. It reminded me of courses I have played in Hawaii. Every time I walked up to another tee box , it was like another signature hole. The greens were outstanding and most of the fairways were good to great. I loved the layout and the abundant risk/reward shots. The crazy thing was it was only $28. You can't play the worst course in Phoenix (were I live) for $28 this time of year. They need a real clubhouse and to get rid of the mats at the range. And this place would be a top course. But i will take it the way it is for $28 any day.

I played Aguila on 11/19/11. The course was in great shape and the greens were nice and rolling pretty fast. The layout is probably one of the best in Phoenix for the price. If you can keep your misses to one side you can score well. It's a desert course with alot of bunkers ,so course management will keep it from being a long day.The only negative was the pace of play. The starter wanted us to tee off into the group in front of us and there was another group still on the green. So the 5 hour round wasn't a surprise.

This course is a nice change from the flatter courses in the Phoenix area. It has a number of steep elevation changes and many nice views. The layout somewhat makes up for its lack of length. The course was in decent shape , but not the great shape they told me when I called prior to booking. Unfortunately the course was way overbooked when we played and they would not honor my tee time I had booked on Teetimes.net . I didn't have a choice but to pay the higher price . I was amazed that even with a copy of the online booking in hand to be told " we can't honor that price , either pay our price or step aside"
