I played yesterday 5/20/12. The greens are rolling perfect! WOW! I want to congratulate the new ownership and the grounds crew on an incredible job replacing all the greens on the course after the damage that happened to them last year! Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures but the greens are superb. I'm happy to finally add this track back into my rotation.

Played this track for the first time yesterday morning at 7:20am (12/10/11). Drove up from San Diego using golfnow.com rewards points and even though it was a long drive (~40 mins), I thoroughly enjoyed my round here at the Welk Resort Fountains. I was greeted by friendly staff at the pro shop where I checked in and headed over to the first tee. It was about 40 degrees and freezing. I couldn't feel my hands for about 5 holes but the first few holes were fairly short. You get a good mix of lowered/ raised tee boxes which allow you to pick through your bag for the right club selection, which was fun.

The next set of holes opened up to really nice views of the surrounding mountains (minus highway 15). I hit driver on most every par 4 but would consider hitting a 3 iron/hybrid off the tee next time to give me better approach shots with a PW. My game from inside 110 is my worst problem and it showed on this course. I was left with a lot of 65-85 yard shots and often chose the wrong club between SW and LW. This course will certainly challenge your wedge game. The greens are fairly small, too.

The greens were very well kept. Minimal ball marks and patch-free. Rolled true and soft. Early in the morning the greens were slow but I snuck in a few extra holes once they dried out in the afternoon and showed some breaks that weren't there in the morning. Fairways and rough were above average. Traps were decent; no rocks! This course is kept really nice.

The marshalls and cart girl were very friendly and courteous. Pace was very fast in the beginning but at the turn I got stuck behind a foursome who played incredibly slow. They finally let me play through after about 5 holes, then I played another 14 holes with no one in front or behind me. However, it looked very backed up on the front 9 about noon. I would play this course again but only in the early morning. One of the marshalls said it does tend to get very slow in the afternoon so be fair warned. I was able to finish 32 holes in about 5 hours; it was that open. I even hit multiple shots to take advantage of the practice time.

Overall, I would recommend this course to someone living closer to the area who is ready to try a more challenging executive track with a traditional course layout and feel. I think it's about 4400 yards and at least you get to let the big dog eat half the time. Big hitters could definitely hit a lot of these greens off the tees. There are some fun doglegs that give you opportunities to hit fades and draws right into the pins from raised tee boxes. This would be a great course for the intermediate player who wants to PLAY golf and read the course to choose the right shot.
