Played 8-4-19. Got a great deal through Golf Now for under $40 each. Course is in good shape for the middle of summer. Tee boxes and fairway were lush with some thin spots. Greens were smooth but varied in speed from one section to another. Sand was terrible! Hard as a rock in most bunkers. Only ended up in 1 but others in the group were in many and the condition was the same. Consistent but not good. Frustrating how many ball marks I fixed today of which only a couple were mine. Rough was just that! Rough! Deep enough you could almost lose your ball in it and thick enough to make it tough to get out of. Over all a good course and well worth the money!

Bear Mountain is showing the benefits of a wet winter. The fairways are mid season lush and the greens are running smooth and fast. Traps tend to be firm though the one I was in last week was soft and fluffy. My only complaint with the course is that the greens get so firm it is difficult to stop the ball on them. It can be frustrating to drop your shot on the front of the green and have the ball roll off the back. The cost is still high for 9 holes but it beats having to drive off the mountain. If you are visiting it is worth playing for a casual fun round. There are plenty of challenges so check it out!

Played 4-14-19. Course is in Ok shape. Not exactly lush but solid coverage. Rough was just deep enough to penalize without being to thick to hit from or lose your ball in. Greens rolled true but were a bit slow. Left a bunch of putts 3 or 4 inches short. Bunkers were awesome! Soft fluffy sand. Great to hit from. I wonder how well it will fair if we have a hot summer but for now very playable at a good price!

Have been playing with the golf team. We have played all 3 courses and as usual Mesquite and Sycamore are in very nice shape. For some reason Birch is still has very firm fairways. Also not as much of a challenging layout. The biggest negative are the bunkers. Fairway bunkers are very firm and greenside though a bit softer still play more like a chip shot than a sand shot. Greens are rolling nice but a little slower than normal. All in all a nice spot to have a casual round. Good food too!

Played 1-27-19. Course is in good shape. Not lush but nice conditions. Greens were fast and challenging. Course is tight and would be much easier for someone that can shape shots. A draw off 1 tee but a fade the next. Fairway bunkers were firm but very playable. Around the green they have added new sand. Bright white and fluffy. Makes blasting out much easier. Tough to bet on this couse but if you get the chance, take it.

Played 9-16-18. Course had reopened the previous Monday so was expecting some signs of healing. Did not see any indication of punching. May have healed that quickly but seemed odd. The bunkers were hard as concrete and the greens were quick but not as fast as normal. Some tee boxes were trashed. Tee boxes on the first par 3 on the back had been moved back so instead of a 150 yard shot it was instead 182. The tee stones were set right in front of a hill so you had to chop down to hit the ball without hitting the ground first. The forward tees had moved from a 75 yard shot to 172! The first par 3 over the canyon had all 4 tee stones on what would be the blue tees. At least it is a reasonable distance but quite a mind tweak when you are expecting 75 yards and find yourself facing 112. The rough was US open length so I lost a ball in the rough just a few yards off the fairway. Love the layout and will continue to play here but may wait till winter to see if more improvements are made to the course or if the focus these days is on building more homes!

Played 7-29-18. Course has reached the playable state. Greens mostly healed and rolling true. Fairways green and very minimal brown. Tee boxes are in good shape. The course has joined with the current trend of including cart fees with green fees. $35 for 9 holes is a bit extreme if you ask me but it is the only game in town as they say. Compared with driving off the mountain to play a regular course adds at least an hour each way so they have us over a barrel. I buy the 10 round pass which makes each 9 $19 but then have to pay for the cart separate so its $26 total. Since I'm a senior now it's not much of a break but I don't mind walking. If you are considering playing now is a good time to do it.

Well the course continues to improve. It is about where it was last year when it opened. Greens are firming up and picking up speed but still short of last year. Tee boxes are mostly disappointing. Chewed up and uneven on many tees. Fairways still have some brown but rolling nice and mostly nice lies. Bunkers are in good shape. Firm but fluffy so very playable. At this rate it will be September before the course is in top shape. The price has gone up and now they are charging 1 price whether you walk or ride. Kind of rude if you ask me.

Played 6-1 and 6-3. Course has improved since opening day but still has a long way to go. Tee boxes OK and fairways filling in. Greens still stink. 2 or 3 are playable but thats about it. Guess my rating was too high last time. Would put this in the 2 to 3 rating. Give it more time and I hope it will come back!

Played opening day 5-18-18. The course suffered from the lack of snow this winter. Fairways are coming back pretty good but still need some time. Bunkers were in decent shape as well as the tee boxes. The greens were mostly a joke unfortunately. They had been punched and sanded not long ago and though they held shots better than usual they were extremely slow and bumpy. At one point a 3 foot putt bounced into the air about 6 inches. I hope in a couple weeks things will get better.

Played 5-20-18. This is the 5th time playing this curse. It always seems to keep me on my toes. The greens didn't look very good but played wonderfully! Good speed and smooth, and they held well. Bunkers were OK but mot as soft as I would like. The tee boxes were a bit rough. Many bumpy areas and some torn up but very playable. Fairways were nice and the rough was not as penalizing as some. Overall a very nice course that does not loose its challenge no matter how many times you play!

Played 4-7-18. This course is a great deal at he price of $37 regular rate. Unfortunately playing on a Saturday was a trail at the least. Waited till 15 minutes past our tee time and could not get a cart. They were waiting for carts for the tee time ahead of ours and we took pull carts and headed out. Got a cart to us on the second green. That would have put us at least 45 minutes behind schedule and as it was the round took 5 hours. The course is in good shape. Some tee boxes were chewed up and the greens were slow for a desert course. Did not end up in any bunkers but they looked white and soft. I would play here again but not on a weekend. A strong 6.5 course.
