Holes 1 and 18 are open (cart path only); holes 2 and 3 are closed, but will likely be done next week. The rest of the course is in good to fair condition. Pace of play is generally okay—but this place is always crowded.

Course is replacing all the rough with Bermuda sod—two holes at a time. As a result, there will be only 16 playable holes for the next 6 months or so. Surprisingly, they are not discounting the rate. Even more surprising, it doesn’t appear to have dramatically reduced the number of players on the tee sheet. Currently, holes 1 and 18 are under construction. Hole 1 will be finished next week, and it will then partially reopen (cart-path only and balls hit into the rough will get a free/mandatory drop into the fairway). It doesn’t appear that any greens or tee boxes will be modified; just replacing the winter rye grasses with Bermuda.

As Aviara gets ready to host the LPGA tournament, the course will be cart-path only beginning March 10. Currently, about half the holes are cart-path only. Several tee boxes are off-limits.

The course will also be trying to jump start the summer growth on the currently mostly-dormant fairways, so some of the fairways will be roped off entirely and played as GUR.

Greens are in great shape.

Some significant tree removal in certain areas (e.g., between 10th green and 17th fairway)

When the course re-opens in April, conditions will likely be as good (or better) than they have ever been during the past year.

The course has really bounced back nicely. Rough is brutal--balls even a few inches off the fairway can disappear. They have narrowed the fairways on several holes. Greens are quick and firm. Bunkers were in pretty good shape--especially considering the recent rains. Pace of play is always a problem here, and the rough + cart path only restrictions don't help.

Although TP is made for walking, they now offer carts with GPS.

The bunkers don't have any sand and some of the tee boxes are beat up. The rest of the course is in fairly good shape.

The greens at Native Oaks are some of the best in the area. The fairways are in very good shape. The rough is not really a factor. The bunkers need more sand. But overall, the course conditions are better than your typical municipal-type course.

The layout has some interesting holes and elevation changes, although some of the holes seem to be squeezed into corridors that are just a touch too tight.

With the recent rains, course will be cart-path only for the rest of the week. Course conditions appear to be slowly improving. Greens are in very good shape.

De Anza is in the middle of the desert, but it's not a desert course. Its a parkland-style course with a surprising number of trees lining the fairways. Conditioning is excellent--especially this time of year. Greens tend to run a bit on the slower side. The desert mountains provide a nice backdrop for many of the holes (similar to La Quinta-Mountain). Like most classic courses, it's made for walking. The pro shop is professional and the members are welcoming.

About a third of the fairways have issues. Greens were terrific. This is the second year in a row that the conditions have been off. In fact, it seems like the Fairways are worse than they were a month ago. Bunkers were good. Layout is fun.

The Celebrity course has lifted its cart-path restrictions and the overseed looks great. The course (and backdrop) is beautiful. The greens are slow. The pace of play is even slower. We would return far more often if we knew that the course would ensure a brisk pace-of-play.

Rams Hill re-opened today (Nov 5). The entire course is currently cart-path only. I'd expect cart-path only for another few weeks. The new grass is still coming in and certain areas of the course are very wet. The fungus that plagued the course last year appears to be under control. There are still a few trouble patches here are there, but most of the course is in very good shape. Most of the greens are in fantastic shape, but they are running a bit slow. Doesn't look like they rolled them today.

Pace of play was 4 hours, 40 minutes. The general manager said that they expected slow play, so they offered a brownie on hole 16. I'd gladly trade a brownie for a 3.5 hour round. But we love the layout and course conditions appear to be off to a much better start than last year around this time.

The entire course is currently cart-path only as they work on overseeding. Quite frankly, the course is a mess.
