A lot of tournaments have come through here recently and it shows. Greens were soft and are pretty beat up with ball marks. Fairways and rough in decent shape. Tee boxes beat up. Pace was slow. If you are headed out on a weekend, realize you might get caught behind a 5some or two. I like the layout but have never been here when we got out within a 1/2 hour of our scheduled tee time.

Played Saturday, it was hot. Course in pretty good shape for summer. Fairways a little thin in spots but greens were in good shape. Tee boxes a little beat up. Overall, still a good deal and a fun course to play.

Played 7/3. Course is in good shape but the greens were a little spongy and slow. It seemed like they had not been cut tight and rolled, maybe due to the drought? Made for a tough day putting. Still, some of the better conditions around right now.

Course is in good shape. Greens are still recovering from punch so they were very slow. Should be great in another week or so. Pace was good for a Saturday. Still a great value.

Course is in good shape all around and if you play in the afternoon, nobody is out there for the most part. Biggest problem is course runs through the Marriott Villas. On a crowded weekend, there are people all over the course. On #5, we had two guys giving golf cart rides to their screaming kids across the fairways, 100 yards from green where people were putting. On # 9, 7 people were camped out just off the fairway having a party, complete with a tripod they had set up to take pictures of the mountains. Other holes had kids playing ball etc. Management said not much they can do and they were nice enough to comp us rounds for next time but be careful of holiday weekends here. Great golf course across the street at Desert Willow.

Played Sunday 11/23. Wind was blowing 30-40 MHP making for tough scoring. Course is in great shape for winter and drought conditions. Few aprons punched but greens rolling nicely. Fairways, rough, tee boxes all in pretty good shape.

Course is in pretty good shape for this time of year. Greens were best part. Some thin spots in fairways. Pace is always slow (5hrs) and I've never been here where we did not tee off at least 20 minutes later than our scheduled time. Was pretty hot today, no cart girl but you do get some ocean breezes which helps cool it down.

Course is generally in good shape, especially for the summer drought conditions. Greens and surrounding areas especially good. Fairways in good shape, some thin spots but mostly good lies. Pace of play was good for a Saturday. Only complaint, was 90 degrees and never saw a cart girl.

Played 5/14. Course was in generally good shape. Biggest complaint was that several fairways were over watered leaving a lot of soggy spots. Greens, tee boxes in good shape. Pace of play was great for a Saturday.

Course is in good shape as they get ready for the Long Beach Open. Greens are fast and smooth. Fairways in pretty good shape. Pace of play on weekends is an issue. This is the second time I played here and both times we got out 1/2 hour late and the round lasted about 6 hours.

Update on previous review:

I got a call from Rodney at Rustic today. He wanted to discuss my review. He did take the time to explain their philosophy of course management and maintenance. In the end, we agreed to disagree on some issues. He had a fair point that the maintenance was listed on Greenskeeper which I did not check before going out. I am writing this because of how impressed I was that he picked up the phone to discuss the situation. It's nice to know that management really does care about the experience at the course. As I stated before, this is one of my favorite courses and I am sure given their commitment, the course will soon be back to the usual excellent conditions and I do look forward to going back.

First let me say this is one of my favorite golf courses. I have been a member of the mens club the last two years but conditions have deteriorated. The course is in horrible shape and it was a crime to have to pay full price to play here. The greens are beyond slow. Not just aerated with large holes but lots of sand. The aprons were punched with large holes and have hardly healed. Putting and chipping are impossible.

Fairways are very thin as is rough where there is any as there are mostly bare spots. Everything is a tight lie. Sand traps were hard and tee boxes uneven and beat up. Never seen it this bad. On top of that, it was over 5 hours to play. Two guys I played with have also played here for years and both said they are not coming back.

No mention of any of this when we called for a reservation and when I went to the shop after, they agreed the course was in bad shape but did not offer any kind of refund or comp. It was basically, sorry and someone should have told you when you called.

Would stay away for at least a month and until you see several great reviews here.
