This is an update from my Nov. review. Teed off at 8 AM, not very busy.

Good grass Driving range with decent golf balls.

Greens: firm, smooth with medium to fast speed.

Fairways: we had nice green fairway but now they are brown from the recent frost.

Rough: terrible, hardpan and animal borrows.

Traps: excellent!

Tees: uneven because of old animal borrows.

POP: just over 4 hours.

Good condition overall for a Muni!

Played in the GK Guru outing on the Dunes Course on Jan. 8th. Not your typical resort course, a very challenging Pete Dye layout!

Let's start with Customer Service in the Pro Shop, Players Assistant and the cart girl; excellent. Made you feel very welcome!

Very nice practice areas.

Greens: most of them were elevated and you had a very challenging pitch shot if you missed the green. The greens were firm, smooth with medium to fast speed.

Fairways and Tees: over seeded and in excellent condition! Best I've played on this winter.

Rough: dormant and mowed close. Many unlevel lies if you missed the fairway.

Traps: good condition.

I would love to come back again soon....

Had a 10 AM Tee time. It was great to get out from the threat/smell of the Lilac Fire.

Excellent practice areas; driving range, chipping area and large practice putting green.

Recommend you play from the tees that your game can handle as this is a very challenging layout.

Greens: smooth, medium to fast speed and firm. Very challenging contours.

Fairways: some very thin areas from cart traffic otherwise playable.

Rough: 1 -3" high, not very penal.

Traps: raked and very playable.

Good GPS system in the carts.

Marshall visited us twice on each nine.

POP: just over 4 1/2 hours.

I am beginning to like this course the more I play it. Recommend.

Played here on Dec 1st going out at 7:30, not very busy.

Greens: very fast and smooth, big improvement since my last visit a month ago.

Fairways: some bare spot but playable.

Traps: playable.

Rough: 1 to 3" high.

POP: just under 4 hours.

Had an enjoyable day with the other GK's at the Legends course.

Greens: first couple of greens had some maintenance issues but nothing major. Another 2 weeks or so should improve these greens. Back nine greens very fast and smooth.

Fairways: excellent, few to many unfilled divots.

Rough: not very penal.

Traps: in decent condition.

Excellent practice area; range, short game area and a couple of practice greens.

Great customer service! Can't wait to return in Dec.

This is an update from my Oct 12th review.

Greens: in excellent condition, smooth, medium to fast and holding.

Fairways: still in above average condition. A few too many divots on some of the holes.

Rough: 1-3" high, MANY bare spots, animal holes/mounds. Worst part of the course.

Tees: many are not level due to old animal holes/tunnels.

Traps: lots of fresh sand, great condition.

POP: just over 4 hours.

In good condition for a Muni.

Played here on Thursday, Nov 16th, first time in a year. Not very busy, teed off 30 minutes ahead of our 9:40 time.

Greens: soft, smooth and medium speed.

Fairways: some brown spot but overall in good condition.

Rough: 1-3" high, not very difficult.

Traps: worst part of the course, very hard packed sand/dirt.

Nice practice green, driving range but was closed for maintenance.

Course is in decent condition. Recommend but get a discount, plenty of 2 for $69 deals out there.

Played here on Friday, 11/3 in a San Diego Seniors match. Got out at 9 AM.

POP: just over 4 hours.

Greens: smooth and firm.

Fairways: very playable but there are some muddy areas. The locals we play with said the fairways have been fertilized and they were watering quite heavily.

Rough: some muddy spots here also, other than that playable.

Traps: poor, hard dirt, very little sand.

Good customer service in the Pro Shop. Food was below average in the bar.

I definitely would play again especially if I got a deal.

Played here for the first time since they punched the greens in early Oct. I was VERY disappointed with the condition of the greens. Most of the punched holes have disappeared but the greens are VERY SLOW. Looks like they haven't been cut in a few days. The practice green is much faster.

Fairways: a few too many unfilled divots, other wise OK. They have roped off the last 50-75 yards to the green and have over seeded so the grass is much longer.

Rough: playable, 1-3" high.

Traps: OK, raked but firm.

POP: 4 1/2 hours.

I would not recommend till the greens are better. Maybe another two weeks.

We got out before the Ladies club. They play at 8 AM.

Good grass driving range and two putting greens.

Greens: need 7-10 more days to heal.

Fairways: good lies most of the time, a few thin areas.

Rough: hasn't changed; weeds, animal borrows/mounds and many bare areas and the DG which scratches the clubs.

Traps: in excellent condition.

Tees: many are uneven, old animal borrows.

Once the greens "heal" the conditions will be better than average for a Muni if you keep the ball in the fairways!

Had beautiful weather for the GK Outing on Tuesday (teed off at 1:12) Great to play with the guys that you always see their reviews and finally can put a face with the name!

Good customer service at the bag drop, Pro shop and starter.

Let's start with the practice area; nice range (with a view of the ocean) but off mats only, love the short game area (2 greens) and a large putting green.

Greens: "holding", medium speed and very challenging. Most of the greens had 3 tiers.

Fairways: firm with good lies all day.

Rough: very playable.

Traps: the two I was in were firm.

Tees: very thin , they were just over seeded but no real problem.

POP: over 4.5 hours. Also, an excellent GPS system in the carts which was very helpful.

Enjoyed Hamburg Tuesday Happy Hour (for $8 which was very good!) and conversation with Larry and Lee after the round.

Recommend.

Had a San Diego Seniors match Monday AM. Course was quite busy. I haven't played here since last summer.

Friendly Pro shop Staff. Well stocked Pro shop.

Driving range but off mats. Two nice practice putting greens.

Greens: smooth, holding with medium to fast speed. Some of the grass around the greens was 3-4" high, very challenging.

Fairways: a combination of a variety of grasses cut VERY thin; below average condition.

Rough: very punishing, 3-5" high kikuyu.

Traps: raked but firm.

POP: just over 4 1/2 hours.

Food in the restaurant; average.

OK to play ONLY if you get a good deal.
