Teed off shortly before 7am on Thursday and finished in just under 4 hours. The greens, aside from ball marks, were in good shape. The greens held shots and rolled fairly smooth with medium/fast speed. The fairways are fair to good. Mostly good coverage with some areas having patchy mixed growth but playable. The rough was also fair to good. Around the greens was mostly good and rough along the fairways was anything from bare to good coverage. The bunkers appeared to be in good shape (was not in any but playing partners had no complaints). The tee boxes were decent and mostly level. The 6200 yard layout has a nice variety of holes to keep things interesting. I have found the staff to always be friendly.

Teed off Wednesday morning at 7:30 finishing in 4 hours. The greens rolled with medium/fast speed and held shots. There were some ball marks and spot where birds pecked little holes but since you can repair the putting line it didn't bother play. The fairways were in good condition with some browning spots but good lies all day. The rough is mostly good and not too penal. There are a few low areas in the rough were water collects creating small mud bogs (found one and took a drop). The bunkers, although morning wet, are mostly good. The right greenside bunker on 14 was a problem. The front half appeared fine but the far finger is just wet dirt. Nice explosion of mud clods. The tee boxes in spots are a little unlevel but in good condition. Always enjoy playing Eldo. The staff is friendly.

Played Wednesday teeing off about 11am finishing in 4:40. The greens are in good shape rolling medium/fast speed and holding shots. The fairways overall have good coverage. The heat of recent weeks have browned and thinned a few areas but overall very playable. The rough along the fairways has mostly good coverage with a few thin/bare spots. The bunkers are fair to good. Some bunkers are somewhat crusty and compacted. The tee boxes are also fair to good mostly due to mild unlevelness.

I Enjoy the varied layout of the Destroyer course. The biggest challenge are the undulating greens (especially if you are not familiar with the course). Several holes have have "No Play Zones" marked by red stakes with green tops. Under local rules these areas provide for a FREE DROP outside the area within two club lengths of where the ball crossed the edge no nearer to the hole. The rule is stated on the scorecard. The staff is friendly.

Played Wednesday 7/24. Teed off late morning playing in 4:45. The greens are in good shape. They verticut the greens the day prior but it did not affect play. The greens rolled smooth on the high side of medium speed and held shots. The fairways had good coverage with a few areas thinning a little. The rough along the fairways is mostly good but stray too far off there are some thin/bare spots. The bunkers are fair to good. Some have good depth of sand while others have sand but are compacted. The tee boxes are mostly good with some mild unlevelness. Always enjoy the layout. Recently Navy has gone to credit cards only (maybe atm cards not sure) but no cash. This policy includes the pro shop and restaurant. The staff is friendly.

Played Friday, 7/12. Teed off at 6:20 and finished in 4 hours. The greens were running medium speed which is slower than usual. But they did roll mostly true and held well struck shots. The fairways had good coverage and had average roll out. The rough has mostly good coverage with a few thin/bare spots. The bunkers were in good shape based on the two I visited. Although a little wet (to be expected during early morning golf) the sand was soft with plenty of depth. The tee boxes were good with some mildly unlevel spots. Enjoyable parkland style course lined with large trees and water comes into play on a few holes. The staff was friendly.

Played on Thursday, 6/20. Teed off at 8:20 and finished in 4 hours. Some of the tee times are blocked off every day for members. Staying at the Quail Lodge I was able to tee off just before the members started at 8:30. I paid $110 as a Lodge guest (prime time rate non-guest is $185). The two golfers I played with purchased a Golf Moose deal at $179 for two golfers. Rates included carts with GPS and range balls. The range is grass but you are limited to hitting clubs that will not go beyond 230 yards. There is a nice practice putting green and bunker.

The course design is solid. Fairway bunkers, some lateral water, and some doglegs keep things interesting. The course is flat with the exception of a par 4 that finishes up hill and the next hole par 3 plays down hill. The biggest challenge when playing the black tees at just under 6500 yards is the par 3s. Four of the five par 3s play from 196 to 219 yards. Condition wise the course is great. The greens run smooth with medium/fast speed and will hold well struck shots. While chipping or pitching into the greens the ball tended to run a bit. The fairways were great. Hard to find a bad lie. The rough had overall good coverage and was not too penal. The bunkers had plenty of soft sand and were in good condition. The tee boxes were fairly flat with good coverage. Simply one of the better conditioned courses I have played.

The Lodge was a nice place to stay. The golf was enjoyable and the conditions were excellent. All the staff at the resort were friendly and willing help or answer a question. It was an enjoyable stay and I would definitely play the golf course again.

Had a wonderful time playing with fellow GKers. The course had a nice layout that played tougher than its slope. Fairly wide fairways off the tee but straying more than a few yards from the fairway was trouble. Many well placed fairway and greenside bunkers added plenty of challenge. The greens had many suttle breaks that were difficult to read. Definitely a course I would play again. Overall I found conditions to be good to great with the exception of the bunkers. The greens for the most part rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and held solidly struck shots. The fairways were great (tight lies with a little cushion). The rough along the fairways was low and only a few yards wide. Beyond the primary rough was lost ball territory. The tee boxes were good and mostly level. The bunkers were firm compacted sand. While firm fairway bunkers can be nice, deep high faced greenside bunkers with hard sand can make it quite difficult to hit a good shot.
There is grass driving and practice putting green. There is a nice proshop and a cafe with bar. Thanks to all the friendly staff at Ridge Creek.

Teed off Wednesday about 10:30 finishing in 4:50. The greens are in very good shape. They rolled with medium/fast speed, held shots, and were mostly smooth. The fairways had good coverage with a few thin spots. The rough was mostly good with some thin/bare areas. The bunkers were hit and miss. Some were good and others were thin of sand or compacted. The tee boxes had decent coverage with some mild unleveness. Navy Destroyer is a fun and varied layout with water coming into play on several holes. The staff is friendly.

Teed off Wednesday at 6:45 and finished in 3:50. As previously reviewed the course in overall good condition for a heavily played muni. The greens had a top dressing applied them but had minimal effect on play. The greens rolled good with medium/fast speed and played a little firm. I had to allow for a little roll out on mid to long iron shots. The green expansion ring around the greens is definitely healed quit a bit since my last round a few months ago but still has some healing to do. The fairways had mostly very good coverage with some thin spots. The rough was mostly good with with some thin/bare spots. Poor ball striking today had me in several greenside bunkers. The bunkers were a mixed bag. Two were very good, one good, and two compacted and hard. The tee boxes were good with some mild unlevelness. Always enjoy playing Eldo. The staff was friendly.

Teed off at 7am as a twosome and finished in 3.5 hours. Went off 15 minutes behind a fivesome thinking we would play through at some point. The fivesome finished in about 3:45.:) The greens were in very good condition. They rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and played slightly firm. Confirmed with the starter that the greens will be aerated next Monday the 29th. The fairways had good coverage for the most part but were a bit shaggy so balls did not run much. The rough was mostly good with some thin/bare spots. The bunkers had plenty of sand but were a bit on the wet side. The tee boxes were mostly level and in decent shape. Los Lagos is an enjoyable track. The course is mostly flat with a few holes having rolling terrain but is very walkable. The staff was very friendly.

Teed off Monday at 7:15 finishing in 3:50. Goose is in very good winter shape. The greens were in great condition. They rolled medium/fast and play a little firm on full shots and chips. The fairways were in great shape for winter. There was good coverage with good lies all day. The rough is mostly good with a few thin spots. The bunkers were in good condition. The tee boxes were good and mostly flat.

Its always worth driving from north Orange County to play Goose. The year round conditions are hard to beat. The staff is always friendly.
