Played on 10/31/2015 at 8:00am. I played in the second group of 9 of us (first group had 5 players), which is typical of a Long Beach muni/American Golf managed course. We tee'd off relatively close to our tee time, maybe 2-3 minutes late (not a huge deal).

Tee boxes:
The tee boxes seemed to have been recently thatched, or verticut, and possibly overseeded recently. They were extremely spotty and severely wet and soggy. The course placed the tees all the way forward to seemingly allow them to heal (which wasn't a huge problem in my mind). But please don't have the tee boxes that you will be using extremely soggy. It was difficult to not only find a level part of the tee box, but also to find a dry spot so your feet didn't sink into the ground and slip.

Fairways:
The fairways actually weren't that bad. There were a few bare spots that I noticed. But can't really blame the course for the recent drought restrictions put into place.

Greens:
The greens were phenomenal! For the amount of foot traffic that this course gets the greens were in really great shape. Kudos for the crew on that aspect. And we all know the greens are usually what keep people coming to the course.

Pace of Play:
This is where the course ALWAYS falls short on (and all American Golf managed courses for that matter). The group that was immediately in front of our first group was already two holes behind after the 5th or 6th hole. Outrageous considering the fact that there isn't really much tall rough or anything for these guys to be searching for their ball or spending a lot of time doing. Twice we had to ask the Marshal is there was anything he could do to speed things up. "I'll try my best" was his best response. I guess his best was to keep things even slower because by the time I saw these guys on the 15th green the group in front of them was already approaching the 18th green. (*Thumbs up*)

American Golf REALLY needs to fix their game plan and managing strategy because this isn't the first time I've experienced a 5 1/2+ round at a Long Beach muni course. 6 hours once at SkyLinks and never even received an email response back from the GM.

I feel like this is the ONLY negative thing that American Golf has going for it. If they could somehow fix this common problem across their entire portfolio they could gain a whole lot more play from all over.

We shall see...
