Played Shadow Ridge at 6:27am with 3 other GK'ers. The morning before the Classic Club event.

This place is incredible, the resort, the clubhouse....just simply amazing architecture and design. Feels like you are at an exclusive destination.

The staff was very attentive and courteous.

The practice facility was amazing. Huge hitting areas with lush grass and brand new Penta practice balls. Huge shipping area and two huge practice greens.

Going out to the course, first ones out....

Tee boxes were lush grass, fairways were perfectly mowed and so was the rough. The landscape was just incredible. I loved the layout.

The sand traps were the disappointment, they were like cement with no sand.

The greens were rolling fast and loved them. They are however FIRM!!! Very hard to make a ball land and stop.

The experience here was memorable and I will definitely be back. What an amazing place!

Dec. 7 GK event! Where do I start...First pulling up to CLassic Club and seeing the huge three-story club house, walking inside and it feels like you are in a PGA event. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. This is a 5-star facility. Walk out to the gigantic practice facility like nothing I have experienced before.

On to the course, tee boxes were perfect, lush grass.

The views were picturesque and incredible.

Fairways were freshly mowed and perfect.

Rough was lush.

Sand, well I was in those bunkers A LOT. The sand was full of nice sand and every one was raked.

The greens were slower than I thought they would be. They were very FIRM and hitting a long 4 or 5 iron into them, they were not holding. Ball would roll out A LOT. I also notice quite a few old pitch marks that were never fixed and dead spots.

This was a very memorable experience, from the course to the enjoyment of the GK event.

I WILL BE BACK!

Tee'd off with lotrgolfer48 a little after 9am which was earlier than out scheduled tee time. POP was great the whole day. Had a great time. I must mention we played 2 for 1 on green fee's/cart. For the rack rate, i wouldn't play here.

Tee boxes were in good/fair condition

Fairways were in good condition, some bare spots but still good IMO.

Rough, well the kikuyu kicked my butt. That stuff is sometimes hard to get the ball going where I wanted. However the rest of the rough was in just fine shape.

Greens! They were in great shape and rolled quite well. Almost too well because some putts went TOO far passed the hole!!!

Warnings: 1.) Cart part only right now 2.) over seeded and rough is ROUGH. The ball can be in front of you and you simply cannot see it. It is brutal! 3.) the greens are SLOW, they are healing very well from aeration but they don't seem to be cutting them, very very fury.

With that said, cannot complain for $35 at 11:52am tee time and taking 4 hours to play.

Give it a couple more weeks and I think it will be back to normal and in great shape. Just this time it is still in the healing process and they haven't mowed much at all. Just letting it grow, grow and grow some more!

Played today at 10:30. Cannot beat the discount price for this course. The greens were done recently and they are 98% healed. They are in the best shape i have seen in a long time! The fairways are good. The rough was ROUGH. Some tee boxes need help and looks like they are doing a lot of work to make it better. Overall great time and this course is a narrow target course. Had a great Monday round!

Played this afternoon. POP: SLOWWWW! 5 hours. Ouch! This is the first time I have experienced this at Talega. Normally 3.5-4 hours. I have a feeling its because every other course is under going maintenance and Talega isn't due until end of the month. So besides that, the course is in fair condition. They started punching tee boxes and fairways. Greens are in decent shape. Some of the sand traps are like concrete and others have fresh sand. My suggestion, stay off the beach :)

Played on Thurs 9/27. BEWARE: They started seeding the greens and punching the greens and some fairways. The course was in fair condition. Rough was long, fairway was decent. Greens need help! As usual, new starter, new management....seems like every week its someone new!

Played at 9:30am on 9/20. Practice facility was closed. Was never told this over the phone the day before when I asked if the greens have been aerated yet (thanks to greenskeepr for that info!). The staff in the pro shop were rude. This was the first time I have been to the Navy course, probably will never return. Not even worth $30. Course was beat and in awful condition. Greens were ok, but the heat definitely got to them. Tee boxes were horrendous on some holes. The fairways were very dry. The only good thing out of the whole day was being able to watch the helicopters practice touch and go's on the base.

Tee'd off at 9:45am this morning and finished in 4 hours. This is VERY good for this course. Just the luck of the draw today. The fairways are in great shape and even in this heat, the greens are in excellent shape! Only downside today was the fairways were wet! they are watering a lot because of the heat. I still think this is one of the best deals in OC. Through a discount tee time site, i ended up paying $11. That's cheaper than a bucket of balls at some courses! Even at $20 this is a bargain for what you get.

I agree with others, seems like every time I am there as well it's under new management and no one knows what's going on. Its very poorly run and occasionally no starter so its chaotic. They also use to have pin locations on each cart and they got rid of it. Now its just red, white and blue flags. I think this was a huge mistake getting rid of pin locations.

The only upside is the $30 special around 11am with cart. Otherwise I wouldn't play here a couple times a month. It seems like no one cares about the course, people don't fix divots nor do they rake bunkers. It could be a very good course IF people would just take the time and fix after themselves.

I played last month for my free "Birthday" round. The staff was very courteous. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Its a somewhat challenging course and very enjoyable layout. The temperature and breeze in SC is a bonus when its been 85-90 degrees out lately. The downside, if you want to use the range...it's a good 5min drive and not convenient at all. So i would arrive at least an hour earlier to warm up or else there is no time.

I play Shorecliffs often, can't beat the specials! Anywhere from $15-$20 for a round with cart during the mornings. Best deal in town if you can deal with the occasional 5 hour long round. The front 9 is narrow and can be challenging. The fairways and greens are in great shape! The driving range is awful, that's the only downside.
