I am a 25 handicap and I have played this course 4 times in the past 1.5 years. Two weeks ago the wind was a factor for the first time, but it was a beautiful day otherwise. The course is challenging for me because of the amount of water, some of it not readily visible. The fairways are in mostly good condition with a number of strategically placed bunkers. I have always found the greens to be in excellent condition, while the greenside bunkers are often wetter than they should be. While my overall experience at this course has always been good, my only issues are that (1) I rarely see a marshall (which has affected pace at times) and (2) the distance to many of the tee boxes (I am a walker). The sounds of construction can be a distraction at times, but those are the least of my problems. The 19th hole amenities are excellent. Compared to other courses I have played(not just this area) I think Pheasant Run offers a good value for the price which should only get better as some of the minor problems are ironed out, construction stops and the course grows up.

I started playing about 2 years ago and have played this course 7-8 times. As a 25 handicap, I have found that accuracy is a must. The prominent feature of this course(other than the San Joaquin River running across the 14th fairway) is the # of old growth trees lining the fairways, many times hanging over the fairways. The sound of ball-on-wood is very common. Tee shots on the fairways make for an easier round. The clubhouse is small and not very well appointed, but it does sit next to the river. Watch where you park, as long slices on the 7th hole often find the parking area. Overall a good experience.
