played 11/24/08 and was humbled. Opening all 36 holes December 20. Can't wait. New blackhorse looks incredible. Greens are diabolical. Fast and rarely a flat spot. Bunkers have softest sand I've ever played. Had some funky shots due to the "fingered" style bunkers. Completely different than old blackhorse. Gone are plenty of trees. Views of Monterey bay are more prevalent from what I remember. Bayonet is still the beast it has always been but just immaculate now. Normal rounded bunkers, lightning greens that defy gravity. They kept the same design on 8/9 holes the new hole is one of the toughest par fours I've played. Looking at the nine not opened yet @ blackhorse was making me dream of the all day 36 hole marathon with great anticipation. You need to bring length, patience and every shot in the bag here. Must, must play. Similar to half moon bay in that both courses are distinctively different. Much harder. Didn't lose a ball. No water, few ob's. Just beautiful, super challenging courses.
