This is a great golf course. The only real issue is not having a driving range. They are still working out of a temporary facility, but the service is excellent. They only have some practice nets and a small practice green outside the pro shop. The course itself is beautiful. Greens are still hard, but that is typical for new courses out here in the desert. It usually takes about ten years for the greens to mature. Anything over an 8 iron into the green is going to roll.

Played on Sunday 7/8/07. This is a 27 hole facility. Separated into three 9 holes courses. I played the Cielo and Lagos courses. Started on Cielo which is about a 10 minute cart ride from the clubhouse. Unusual but okay. The course plays through the Doral Resort in Cathedral City. When the facility first opened back in the 80's it was owned the the Princess Cruise Lines. Hence the name "Desert Princess". The course is getting a little long in the tooth. Played from the tips, the Cielo/Lagos combination is only 6,600 yards. Most of the holes are played amongst the times shares and condos of the resort. The fairways are sufficiently wide, but the condos are still within reach of an errant shot. Overall the course is in very good shape. There are quite a few patches of nut grass, but that's more aesthetic and really doesn't effect play. The fairways are in great shape. The rough was what I believe to be a good length, definitely a penalty to hit into the rough, even the first cut. Greens are in good shape. The course is about twenty years old now and the greens are mature enough to hold a well struck shot. I found the speed to be a little slow, probably 9 to 9.5. but true. For $25 which includes a sandwich, a bag of chips and a drink after your round this is a bargain.

Massive amount of construction going on. Only 15 holes are open. You play 1,2 and 3 twice. The 14 of the 15 holes are very good. On one of the holes (can't remember which one) they have created a temporary green in the middle of the fairway. Turning the hole from a par 4 into a par three. The other 14 holes are in great shape. Lots of elevation change. It will be interesting to see what happens to this course when the construction ends.
