We just played there and for the $150+ fee, I'm not to happy with the course.

I have never liked courses wedged between houses. It takes away from the beauty of the course. The layout of the course is nice but you never get the full experience of the mountains because you are constantly looking at houses.

Now, the groups ahead of us didn't help, but the greens were in lousy condition. Nobody repairs their ball marks and the damage is evident. You can also tell the greens aren't rolled on a regular basis. Real bumpy. The cups obviously were not moved because the lips were rounded and heavily damaged.

The staff? Grumpy by my standards. We got 2 "thank yous" the entire day. When we paid and when we tipped the guy cleaning our clubs. We were asked to speed up even though we were on a 4.5 hour pace, had a slower group in front of us and two some behind us that was barely keeping up.

I really wanted to enjoy my experience here but I didn't. I'll stick to my So. Cal. Courses (Oak Quarry, Blackgold, Goose Creek, etc). They cost less, have great layouts and they treat you with respect.

On Aug 21, friends and I booked a 300pm tee time though a web service that showed open tee times before and after our selected time.

When we showed up at 245PM, there were no available golf carts and the course was completely backed up. We finally got a cart at 310pm but we werent able to immediately tee off. We didn't tee off until 330 because of the multiple groups ahead of us. The group in front of us took over 30 minutes to complete this short par 4. We finished the first hole to move on to the par 5. There was a group on the green and a group about 250 out and they would not hit up in this narrow approach. The group on the tee box would not tee off even though the group in front of them were about 230 in front of them. The all average about 180 to 200 on their previous drives. Yes, the players are the problem, but there were no marshalls around to push play along.

We endured 2 more holes of this and then gave up. After 4 holes and 2 hours and 15 minutes, we had enough. We jumped in our carts and drove the rest of the course. We found 3 different groups of 5, which Westridge states that they don't send out until after 330PM. We also talked to a few other groups and they said it was packed when they started, though the web site showed multiple opennings.

With that said, it is obvious that Westridge does not honor the online reservations, because they are taking any and all tee times/walk-ups regardless of what is reserved. they have no marshalls to keep play speed respectable.

Westridge has failed to respond to one of my playing partners regarding his complaint.

It is bad when new golfers do not understand the principles of golf ettiquette and keeping up with the speed of play, but it is even worse when the golf clubs do not respect those same principles and are only concerned about how many paid tee times they can get in during a day.

We have been playing westridge for the last 6 years and we have always enjoyed this challenging and well maintained course. We won't be going there any time soon, especially if they don't change their policies.
