Tee Time: Monday 4/8/2013, played with Pedro7170, his brother in law and his buddy Tees: Tips Weather: Oh my 30-35 gusts, 70 degrees, sustain winds in the area of 15-25mh Greens 7/10. They actually just looked like they have a fine needle cone punch that is very small. It did effect putts somewhat but the greens here are still in beautiful shape. Maybe in a couple of weeks the greens will be back to there usual great shape. They are still semi- firm, contain very little to no ballmarks and are nice and green. They are receptive on shots and are large and undulating. They have many places to place the pins here thanks to the design by Gil Hanse. Fairways 8/10 Very lush fairways, great lies. Still get quite a bit of roll if you hit a burner type of drive. Very nice shape Tees 8.5/10 Very lush and green containing very little divots. Only a handful of tees are un-level. Bunkers 7/10 Was in 4 bunkers today...all pretty much played the same, just enough sand in them. To the naked eye when you step in the bunker they look hard and compact but there is for sure enough sand in them Rough 8/10 They are growing the rough up some just off the fairways. Anywhere from 2-3 inches. They are having a US senior men's open qualifier here and I assume this is why the rough is up some here. Layout 8/10 Several long par 4's and 2 really tough par 3's at this course. Great peaceful setting. We drove away from the Simi, Moorpark, Ventura winds this morning only to be greeted with more wind which is unusual for this place. Overall: For 24 bucks walking in the morning during the week this has to be one of the better deals around. I always enjoy playing golf up in Ojai and today was no different. Well done Soule Park golf course.
