This new course in Oceanside is a must-play. Only $52 Monday-Thursday, 20% off that if you're a JC Resorts Club member. New course opened June 11 - fairways, rough and tee boxes are immaculate. Greens are very firm, hard to hold a shot unless you're coming in with a very short iron. Regardless, they putt perfectly true, albeit a little fast. Get used to the speed on the practice green first and you'll be fine. Superb customer service, too - atmosphere is more like a private club than a public course. Wind causes havoc on a few holes, especially in the afternoon, but you can score well here if you're patient. Play it now before all the houses are built around this great new track in North County!

Arrowood Golf Course in Oceanside opened this weekend as the newest JC Resort operated course.

We played yesterday and found it to be in fantastic condition for a brand new course. The heavy rains which postponed the opening, it was originally supposed to open last November, were probably providential as it gave the greens time to mature a little before being assaulted by the opening weekend traffic. I also played Cross Creek in Temecula on its opening weekend and can say without a doubt that the greens at Arrowood are in much better shape than those at Cross Creek were when it opened.

This course is on high ground near the rear gate of Camp Pendleton and the wind did pick up in the late afternoon; however the sweeping views and lack of housing tracts, so far, make this course a pleasant change from the typical 'Condo Canyons' we have here in southern California. If you are a JC member and play all of the course this one remind you of Encinitas Ranch, without the attitude, due to its openness and Twin Oaks because of the protected habitats and use of natural areas as lateral hazards. One great local rule is the designation of the flower beds as ground under repair allowing for a free drop. Take advantage of this rule while it lasts.

This new course is a must play. Beautiful views from nearly every tee, challanging layout, and great customer service typical of a J.C. Resorts course. My only complaint would be that there's no course layout on the scorecard or tee boxes. I was told that this will soon be taken care of. Play was alittle slow but I expected that as most people are playing the course for the first time. The tees, fairways, and the rough were in fantastic shape. The greens were fast and smooth although there were many ball marks that weren't fixed, come on people it takes 10 seconds to fix a ball mark. I'll be playing here on a regular basis.
