With $25.00 green fees the course is being distroyed due to the amount of play it is getting and the calibar of players the $25.00 fee is attracting in many cases. The course has a dress code that is not being enforced largely because of the anything goes policy when your greens fee are only $25.00.

We played yesterday for theSuperbowl shotgun deal, and it was the first time i have played this course in about 3.5 years. It has definitely went downhill since then. When I played 3.5 years ago, it was like resort golf; manicured fairways and rough, picturesque course...now it is slightly better than a muni. Driving range is beat up, free range balls are gone, and no more grass tees. I'll be in no hurry to go back.

Very disappointed. Not in very good shape since Troon no longer manages the course. I understand times are tough with the economy and not getting a lot of play so the $ is not there but it is going from a nice course to looking like an old muni. Too bad, when it was in good shape it was worth the drive and the $. Greens need a lot of work, bumpy with many divots. Considering it's late December we were not expecting ideal conditions but it was in BAD shape. Fairways, rough, and bunkers were okay but the greens were bad. On short putts you hit them soft and the bumps will cause the ball to go off line. We each must of fixed 3 divots (not including our own) per green. Friendly staff but the starter put his cart in reverse and drove away when someone was trying to tee off. Course is not very well marked. Even putting a blue, white and red marker on the cart path to give you basic 200, 150 & 100 yardages would speed up play so you wouldn't have to look for a sprinkler head that was marked. Par 3's are good and challenging. Par 5's are very long and almost impossible to reach in two from the tips except for 18. Will wait til Spring before going back.

Shadow Lakes is a outstanding golf course and a great value. The course is a test from any of the tees but has multiple tee locations for every skill level. The view of Mt. Diablo and the east bay hills are great. The playing conditions are very good and greatly improved from what they were 6 to 8 months ago. The staff is extremely friendly and do everything they can to take care of the players. The greens are in good shape and they will test your putting skills every time you play the course. The fairways are in outstanding shape, but the bunkers are in poor condition and need alot of work to meet the quality of play the golf course offers. The bar and restaurant is a great place to have lunch after the round of golf. The bartender are very nice (and cute too). Management needs to do more to control the kids that are allowed in the bar area when the local school is dismissed for the day. I highly recommend Shadow Lakes golf course for a great overall experience on a challenging golf course.

I played Shadow Lakes this week in the rain. The drainage was great. Tees, fairways and greens are all in wonderful condition. If you played Shadow Lakes earlier this year and were turned off by some green damage, like myself, go back and try it now...you won't believe how beautiful they are! I played on a good rate and it should be more...take advantage.

Shadow Lakes is a very nice golf course and a great value. The course is a nice test from the back tees but has multiple tee locations for every skill level. The views of the east bay are wonderful. The playing conditions were very good and the staff was extremely friendly and courteous. The greens were in good shape as were the fairways. There's a nice driving range to warm up or practice on. The bar is cool and the bartender was very nice (and cute too).I highly recommend Shadow Lakes golf course for a nice overall experience.

Shadow Lakes is still a pretty good value for the money. There are, however, some troubling signals. It looks like the range is going toward artificial plastic hitting areas and away from grass. The Canada geese are ruining nos. 16 and 17 greens with their destroying the grass nearby and pooping all over the place. A "Goose" dog is seriously needed. The bunker quality is uneven with some having too much sand and some nearly none at all.
