I have played golf in almost every public and private course in the bay area and this is one of the most fun golf courses around. It isn't long and it isn't tricky. The conditions are usually wet and crappy, but it is golf in its best form. You have to hit golf shots. Most holes are delightful and the setting is lovely. People rag on it because of the conditions, but give this course a try; it is fun, the way golf is supposed to be.

course has been getting less play, walked on with a twosome at 9:30 on saturday morning. 4.5 hr pace, not as bad as some 5+ rounds endured in past. Holes 16-18 are tough finish with beautiful views.

This is an inexpensive muni course, and essentially you get what you pay for (except for the view, which is exceptional and may make up for a few less-than-perfect holes). With the current dry season... Continue »

This is an inexpensive muni course, and essentially you get what you pay for (except for the view, which is exceptional and may make up for a few less-than-perfect holes). With the current dry season, the greens for the most part are acceptable. The fairways are dry and kept about as short as you'd expect a course that doesn't have intensive upkeep to have - acceptable, but not Pebble-Beach-like. Do not, however, play this course after a few days of rain. It will be intolerable. For $24 as a resident of SF, this course is my back-up course when I can't find a good tee-time elsewhere. As long as it's reasonably dry, I'm never disappointed and never feel like I've been ripped off. The greens are a lot better than they were a couple of years ago, by the way (that was horrible).

I drove to sf from santa cruz about 2hr north and played a new course called lincon park, which is owned by the city and while it can be slow at times I'm told. its views and surroundings are awsome.. it is located past sunset near the leigon of honor on top of the hills. the price for 18 is only 36.00 on weekends and 26 for locals. it is hilly and will give you a work out walking. there are some long par 3's like 240,239,203yds and some really narrow fairways too. if you don't know the course you wil find some holes with blind shots on the par 4's which I found unfair as there are very few markers to show 100-150yds... the greens are bumpy and thin which can make them fast at times. it is a a par 68 and lacks a couple of par 5's, but for something new its was fun. so if your in the SF bay area and want to get in a quick round and try something new that has [great scenery] and is easy to get on weekends without calling ahead this is a good one.....it is a city course and can be slow too, I'm told..

The fairways are like an old cow pasture that has been cut and given a little water. Where you don’t have weeds, you have dirt. There is very little in the way of yardage markers, and when you do find the few marked on the cart path, they are not consistent in their paint color, using red for 150 yards and 100 yards. Lack of maintenance is also evident in the poor condition club house with the same urinal that was out of order when I played the two years ago, is still out of order!!

This course is on the most prime real estate in the country, with one of the most spectacular par 3's I've EVER played (#17), but yet I scratch my head at how poorly managed this course is. I cannot even imagine who is responsible for the lack of proper upkeep?! It is baffling that a city as tourist happy as San Francisco would not have already found a way to use this course as an opportunity to lure tourists. At the very least, they could put some dollars into maintaining the course!

This course is a tragedy. My dad and I play here all the time when he comes up from LA and I am embarassed for the course. The greens are ALWAYS in poor shape, the fairways are a joke. The tee boxes often have tons of divots and are on a side hill lie. Its tough to get a good shot here. The fairways that are short enough to not qualify as rough, are all on a side hill lie, so if you hit a GREAT shot, you are penalized when it runs down the hill into the "rougher rough" or you get a side hill lie on the "fairway rough".

The best thing about this course is what makes it worth teh money, 17. This hole is what is good about this course and is worth the 20 bucks alone. The views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the bay, the skyline, the ocean, hte legion of honor and all the wildlife make this course magical. The same course that is so dirty and poorly cared for provides the most magnificent views anywhere. Imagine standing at the tee box and looking down 220 yards to the green, with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Or, standing on top of a hill, with classical statues next to you, looking down 500 yards at a green with the San Francisco Skyline in the background. These are worth pretty much any greens fees you will pay.

These same magnificent pieces are what exemplifies the worst of this course. You are distracted by the beauty by the poor conditions. Whatever day you pick to go out there, its just about guaranteed that at least one green will be closed, and there will be tire tracks on two others. Its criminal how poor this course is kept, and it makes me want to go out and pay the 18mil it would cost to rebirth this golfing jewel of Northern California.
