Played early on Saturday 11/24. Played 10-18 first, then 1-9. I actually thought it might help my scoring playing the tougher side first, but it didn't help. Also because of the changing wind, it always seened like we were hitting into the wind on the par 5s.
Overall, the course was in great shape.

Played on Friday, 1/12. I was fortunate to play with a few locals, who said the very breezy day that I would categorize as a 2-club wind as a calm day at the course.

Overall, the course design and layout is nearly a golfer's dream. Most of the fairway are wide and far, but every now and then, a hole would cause you to play strategic, target golf. The greens were super fast and having a shelf or two that made proper placement of the approach shot quite critical. Additionally, a putt or two rolled off the green from a short pitch as there was times no real fringe to speak of. Local knowledge is a must for a couple of holes where the appearances are deceiving.

Played 11/13 morning and teed off before 11 AM. I was pleasantly pleased to see the course in good condition. As a single, the starter was able to get me out quickly (within 10 minutes) and my playing partners made the round enjoyable.
The greens were super-fast, and the pin positions were a bit challenging. The fairways were just in good shape, but they were beginning to do some overseeding, which will help even out the quality of the course. Even for the midday time, the wind began to pick up and moved the ball offline when the ball spun too much.
The only bad thing was there was a group tournament ahead of us and that slowed us up from having an under 4 hour round. The Victoria Lakes course is not expected to be ready until late summer 2007, but it looks like it will round into shape and be quite as challenging.

This is the best 9 hole course in the county at a par 36 with two par 5s and two par 3s. I have rarely found the fairways to be in average condition as they are always green and full of grass. The greens are many times the best part of the course, however, when I played it this past weekend, they looked rather worn as they prepare for aeration.
With fivesomes all the time, after the first hour of tee times, play can almost be 2 1/2 hours per nine holes, which is barely tolerable. You will encounter hackers playing with little regard for etiquette or players that have played there for years and move along at a quick pace regardless of how many shots they hit. There can be log jams all over the course and you may hear the call of 'Fore' quite frequent because of the caliber of play. When I have the time and the inclination, I would rather play Harbor Park in 2 1/2 or 3 hours than deal with a 5 1/2 hour round at any of the other city courses.

Played over July 29 weekend.
Course was in decent shape, however, I was surprised by the work being done and its effect on play. Overall, it made the course a par 72 as one par 4 and one par 5 were shortened. I am quite sure the heat from the past few weeks made everything a bit brown, but the course was still wet in some places from over watering.
Many of the tee boxes had lots of wear and tear and a couple of greens were worn around the edges. The play would have been more difficult if the rough was lush, but that was OK as play was slow enough as it was without it.
Overall, I love the design of the course with changes in elevation from tee to green on many holes. The wind also plays havoc on both long and short holes and the greens.
Service was great as the starter will put you out early, if available.

This resort course is made for great golf and ample pampering of your game and ego.
With ocean breezes and generous fairways, the opportunity to have a great round of golf is not a problem at this resort course. As it is not overly long, you can be rewarded for aggressive play and you can always score better with conservative play. The course rolls well through a developed area with water or arroyos fronting greens or running alongside fairways. While there are very few straightforward holes, most of the holes have interesting features (tiered greens, strategic bunkers or sloped fairways).
Unfortunately, there is no driving range (the price to pay in having the course near the ocean) and the putting green is rather small. You will tee off on time and finish your round faster than you will want to play more holes. The clubhouse is well stocked (and over-priced)with wares and the food service near excellent.
The price is high, but the course and service is worth it.

Played during aeration special and was able to tee off at twilight for $30 and was able to finish in 4 hours on a Wednesday. Overall, thought that that price was fair for the course. It is nothing special as it is quite flat and fairways are a little hard in most places. The layout is just OK as the length and variety of holes is quite good, but it seem like on the front side that you are going back and forth into and against the wind through a stretch of holes. The forced carries from the teebox or to the green were challenging. It would be a great place to walk with a yardage guide/book. It is not worth the price during the week or on the weekend. If they charged the twilight rate all during the week and the regular daily rate for the weekend, then I might would play it a lot more. Otherwise, I'll look for specials or only play at twilight and be able to finish.

Played over Labor Day weekend.
This is just an average course that has decent elevation changes as you play this OC course through a housing development. Actually, the houses are not that close, but I did see a few balls in some of the homes backyards. As the course makes it way though the neighborhood, you are hitting mostly to elevated greens and angled fairways. A few blind tee shots make course knowledge important and hopefully you won't hit groups on your or on parallel fairways. Water comes into play on about four or five holes, but don't seem to present that much deterrence.

The best course in Coastal Central CA. A layout and design that provides for shot making, target golf and long driving skills. The rolling fairways to elevated greens, which are lightning fast, and the "ball grabbing" oak trees make this course a true measure of great golf. I have never been disappointed in the condition of the course or the speed of play whenever I have ventured to play the course.

A better than average course in the Central Coast area that is just off the beaten path. This is a very good beginner's course and it shows by the normal clientele that frequent the course. Luckily, it is not too crowded and you can have an enjoyable round of golf without worrying about too much.

Played Friday, 6/3. Course was in great shape after CIF championships were held there the day before. Holes had a great design that wasn't boring monotony of holes of similar lengths. The water and sand traps were well placed enhanced the course design features. Greens were large had most had tiers; course knowledge is definitely helpful in that respect.

Great course, great price and would be willing to play more often if it were closer.

Played 4/30.
This is a very good course that has the challenges and the risk reward for great shotmaking around the course. Had a very comfortable tee time in the mid-morning on a Saturday and were able to breeze through the round, except for the short par 4s which seemed to cause the groups ahead to play poorly.
Was impressed with the layout and design and pleased by the overall condition of the course. Greens seemed a bit too hard and I found the bunker sand to be of great quality (and I found them too often).
