The fairways were softer than in times past. I still had a few too many hardpan lies, however. They did a good thing in adding fairway bunkers on 18 to keep balls from rolling into the lake. The lay... Continue »

Haven't played here in about 2 years and was pleasantly surprised. Layout is very challenging but conditions became poor after course had been opened for a year. Fortunately that has been reversed a... Continue »

Putt, you keep me thinking about it.... so I guess we're all just going to have to play the course and find out. Anyway, I was also once in the other side of your driving range when they had one of the largest demo days, I've been to... I mean many big names like TaylorMade, Nike, Titleist, Calla...

OC golf sometimes gets a little lax on those things. Wait till you see the new hole it will be done in about a month maybe less. They are putting in a big bunker that really does not seem to be in play. I play there frequently and like to hit a big draw on that hole and regret it because I ...

Accodring to Websters Dictionary the description of a great finishing hole is Arroyo Trabuca's 18. It is a reachable par 5 with lots of trouble. Start your tee shot at the group of small trees on the right side of the fairway. If you can draw the ball a little you may be able to get home in two. DO NOT START A BALL DOWN THE MIDDLE WITH A DRAW. The fairway runs toward the lake down it's entire length. A draw will run into the water unless you start the tee shot down the right side. The second shot is always a green light for me mostly because I'm an idiot. The smart play unless you are within an iron of the green is to layup to your best yardage and hit your third shot close. Remember to keep your approach shot on the right side of the fairway to avoid running into the water. The green is two tiers with the lower tier at the back half of the green. Get your ball on the right tier and you have a great birdie putt. I love this hole and this course. They need to get a handle on the ball marks to truely have a top notch track.

Care is required with the final two holes. The fairway slopes toward the lake so favor the right side of the fairway on 17. I try to start my tee shot at the left side of the right hand fairway bunker. The green is large and can easily result in a 3 putt if you are on opposite ends from the flag. Approach shots left of the green are probably wet. Approach shots right of the green may use the slope and kick onto the green. Favor the right side of this hole.
