Played a 5 hour round starting a little after 9 this morning, front 9 was packed, the back 9 was not bad, it looked like the group ahead and the group behind my group quit, so the pace was quite nice on the back.

Tees- In very good shape, especially when compared to the rest of the course, mostly level and lush.

Fairways- A lot of work needs to be done, there were numerous bare spots on ground that, usually you were hitting off of a sandy bare spot or a very thin patch of grass. You could definitely experience links style golf as it was firm and fast. My biggest problem with the condition was more of how much harder it was to "frame" the hole and have a sense of direction. It was hard enough on this course when it was in good shape, but all the bare spots made it hard to pick out bunkers and waste areas. Hitting off these spots was manageable, but it needs to be top priority.

Rough- Pretty much non existent unless you were around the green

Bunker- weren't too bad, some looked a little thin, but the ones I was in were in good shape

Greens- In great condition, definitely the best conditioned part of the course. Some greens were being taken over by grass growing in from the fringes, but that was usually in areas that wouldn't even come into play.

Overall, I won't be coming back until I hear that the fairways improve, this course needs water badly and while I still found ways to have a good time, the poor fairways just made it too hard to enjoy the actual golf round.

Played yesterday afternoon, great day for golf!

Tee Boxes- A little unlevel, nothing severe, otherwise in very good shape, not much in the way of divot damage.

Fairways- In excellent shape, no bare spots, the combination of kikuyu and hillsides made it very hard to get any kind of rollout on tee shots, but they were cut down enough to allow for some nice approach shots.

Rough- Varied, for the most part it was a little shorter along the fairway, thicker around the greens, made it more forgiving off the tee and more punishing for missing the green, which is something I am very ok with.

Bunkers- Had plenty of sand in the ones I was in, was a little heavy, but still easy to get the blade through. Either people weren't hitting into them or everybody was raking them, as they all seemed to be well taken care of.

Greens- Rolled great, looked like there were two kinds of grass growing though (bent and poa?) I'm not good enough for it to matter, the ball seemed to hold its line very well regardless, but some may use it as an excuse anyway :)

Pace of Play- 4 hour round in a foursome, no complaints, saw the marshal driving by every hour.

Overall, had a great day out on the course for a Friday afternoon, will be back.

Played Willowick this afternoon. For the walking twilight rate and occasional email discounts, the course would basically have to be all dirt for me to get upset about the conditions.

Tee Boxes- I can see they have been trying to move them around, but I think the course just gets too much play, many were very thin, especially the par 3's, also there only be 2-3 tee boxes that are actually level, the rest I would not consider to be severe, but were definitely unlevel.

Fairways- It still isn't spring time yet and considering the time of year and the severe drought, I was surpised to find them in a still playable condition. They did play pretty thin, not much in the way of bare spots, just dormant or dead grass.

Rough- Pretty much always inconsistent, sometimes short, sometimes long, sometimes non existent.

Bunkers- Not too bad, some were a little thin. All were playable.

Greens- I think they may have aerated a week or 2 ago as a couple greens had punch marks still healing up around the fringes, greens played slow and often a little bumpy, if you are used to smooth putts outside of 10 feet, you would probably get a little frustrated.

Overall, I still always have a good time playing here, it is the local value course you could grow up playing on.

Played River View Golf Course yesterday. If you know what the course is about and are prepared for it, you can always have a good time there. I can always say that you will get what pay for. I play twilight and I usually walk there so I always feel like I get my money's worth.

Tee Boxes- Some were unlevel, others were rather beat up, and there were a few that were in good shape.

Fairways- Will depend on which part of the course you are playing, the upper level was in good shape, everything in the river bed was dried out, there is still green grass in many areas, but also many bare areas as well. The closer you get to the center of the river bed, the more dried out and bare the area is as that area tends to get it's water from the santa ana river, since we are in a severe drought, there is no water, so everything is either dried out or dead and bare.

Bunkers- Pretty much the only thing I have always disliked about this course. It looks like they just scoop the stuff out of the river bed and throw it in there. I get that, when you charge lower rates, you are more likely to not be able to spend much on things like fine bunker sand. It might be wise to reconsider that here though, as around the greens, you'll often find so much debris from what comes out of the bunkers that your putting is severely effected even if you try to clear a path.

Greens- When they aren't showered with river bed sand (that just sits on top) they roll quite nicely. They are definitely the biggest highlight of the course. Speed is usually medium, some days they will roll the greens and they can play somewhat fast.

Overall as long you know what to expect, you can definitely have a good time out here. It is a bit of a funky layout, but I do enjoy it quite a bit.

This course represents a little bit of every type of golf course in the Inland Empire, some holes you have to be able to create shots, while others you get the opportunity to swing away knowing there is a quite a bit forgiveness.

Conditions:
Tee Boxes- Fairly lush to needing some work, some may have needed to actually have been cut while others need a little bit of work, being a little unlevel or a little thin, overall they were in pretty decent shape.

Fairways- Have been over seeded for the winter, there were some areas where the seed just did not take but were not bald, just dormant Bermuda. Fairways were also a bit firm as there is a bit of water restriction to say the least in CA right now. Everything was very playable and in good shape.

Rough- Is currently dormant and not much trouble. The ball sat up well, again with the water issue, everything is a tad firm, but still very playable.

Bunkers- Quite a few looked like they had new sand in them. But my past experiences here were reconfirmed as I know many of the bunkers here are hit and miss. Just like the 2 I were in today, one had quite a few pebbles and was bit hardpan while the other had plenty of soft white sand.

Greens- It looks like they are finally giving up on fighting the poa annua on the greens and letting it take over the bent grass. It's a shame if that is true because the bent grass greens were very pretty. There were a number of greens that were almost all poa and a few that were still a mix. For the most part everything rolled well, there were some issues with unrepaired divots (another common problem here) but for the most part the greens were good.

All in all, I enjoy playing this course a lot. Each nine requires a different style of play and that makes the whole round enjoyable. I will be back

Played yesterday at Shadow Ridge- Mid day start

Tee Boxes- Were probably the weakest part of the course, some were a little unlevel, a lot of them were getting too much play, while everyone seems like they are filling in their divots, the markers should have been moved to avoid what I saw as for a $100 round, I shouldn't have to play from that.

Fairways- Lush, in fantastic shape, had some roll to them. I like how much space you are given for a landing area, shame I didn't use them all that much

Rough- Is a bit shorter, which is fine with me, there actually is not a whole lot of rough due to the wide fairways, which also often slope into many of the water hazards, so don't flirt with landing near water.

Bunkers- Had good fine desert sand, very soft.

Greens- Held shots pretty well, had pretty good speed, but weren't overwhelming. All the greens had some moderate undulation, which made it a lot of fun as long as stayed below the cup.

Overall it was a great day on a great course, I would definitely play there again.

Beautiful day out at the quarry, course was is pretty good condition.

Tee Boxes- fantastic shape, very lush.

Fairways- same as the tee boxes, still got a bit of roll, especially on downhill slopes

Rough- Also very lush, was cut short and the ball sat up pretty well

Greens- Rolled about as true as I could imagine a green could roll. I appreciate that this course does not make a point to cut their greens so they are lightning fast as it would make putting unbearable

Bunkers- about the only thing that needs work as quite a few were hard pan and rocky, there are a few with good sand so I hope they are working little by little to improve them

Course was in excellent shape, fairways and rough were lush. The only thing to gripe about were the bunkers, they were packed down, some had small amounts of standing water in them, it was like someone left the sprinklers on too long. Everything else was terrific, I will definitely play again

The difference between playing this course in the winter and spring is night and day. Everything has pretty much come back. Greens- looked like they were aerated a few weeks ago, but rolled true, looked very healthy. Fairways- everything is green, mix of grasses, but for a $20 walking rate (twilight), why would you expect more? Rough- Suprised to find it to be quite lush, long, and an actual problem if you had to keep hitting from it. Bunkers- was never in one (yay!) but nothing seemed special about them, some looked a little hard pan. Overall, when everything is alive, this course is enjoyable and very easy to walk.

If you walk this course then, the green fee is worth it, if you like to ride then there are a number of other local courses that would give you a much better value and experience for the cart and green fees. Fairways were definitely in winter mode with a lot of dormant grass, and a number of bare spots,, bunkers were a little thin, but were decent with a few pebbles here and there, tee boxes were hit and miss, some level, others were pretty uneven. The greens were probably my biggest complaint, very bumpy. This course is easy to walk and not too long, hopefully in the spring everything will come back to life
