Played March 13. I’ve played many tournament courses and this is the first one that looked as good in person as it did on tv. The course was in perfect condition, including the rough, very rare in Az. This could be because we played soon after the match play and the course may not be in normal shape. We played Wild Burro and Saguaro, Wild Burro isn’t part of the tournament. I liked Wild Burro best, it goes east towards the foothills, some great holes. Saguaro goes to the se with views of valley, really has a lot of saguaros. Both nines have wide fairways and big green complexes. There is also a very good practice area. I don’t usually mention the service, but it was exceptional here and deserved praise. I will definitely be back.

Played March 12. Very nice old style course. A nice break from the desert courses. Good to be able to read the greens and make a put after playing Arizona National. Playing conditions were very good, several well designed holes. Lots of room to let the driver loose. Bet the pros tore this place up.

Played March 11. This is a great desert course in very good condition. My only complaint was the traps were wet and hard underneath, had to use my lob wedge. Very well designed course, great views. A little narrow but not too long. Tough reading the greens. Would play here again.

Played March 5. This course has gone downhill fast. The resort has gone into bankruptcy, they must have stopped maintaining the course months ago. Only dirt and pebbles in sand traps. Very little grass on greens and fairways. Some of the greens are dead. This course not a bargain at any price. This has happened twice before that I know of, Chandler took over the course until they found a buyer. Its a shame because I've always liked this course. Until you hear good things, play somewhere else.

Played Feb 26. Course was in good shape. Greens putted true and were fairly fast. Rough was dead but no bare spots. Very nice people work here. Seems like all the traps I've been in this winter are all the same. A thin layer of soft sand on top so you think a blast shot will work. But then there's hard wet sand underneath and the club keeps bouncing up into the ball. This is the second time I have played here since the remodel. I still miss many of the old holes like 9 and 18. The course is half old parkland style and half new resort style. There are better courses to play.

Played Oct 2010. Opened for public play the spring of 2010. Course designed by Weiskopf was private up till then. They couldn’t sell enough lots or memberships before the economy turned. The course has one of the most amazing settings I have ever seen. It is surrounded on three sides by the red rock cliffs of Sedona. The people of Sedona were not happy when this development was approved, probably in the middle of one of their famous vortexes. That might explain why the driving range is so far away from the club house. The course is a very nice layout in excellent condition. The day we played it rained off and on, but course drained well, lots of elevation change. Course is located north of West Sedona, a gps will help. You will not forget this course; it may be the one time your wife will enjoy playing. I can’t emphasize enough what a must play this course is. I’ve played in Hawaii, Caribbean, Mexico and all over the US and there is nothing like this.

Played Jan 16. Another subdivision course, about average. Course is a simple design, no surprises or tricks. Wide landing areas although they are rolling. Greens were smooth and average speed, some have severe slope. Enjoyed playing here, for a Sunday play was very fast, marshal kept things moving. Very friendly staff, beverage cart by many times. For $45 including balls and lunch, a no-brainer.

Played Dec 19. A subdivision course in SE Phoenix area. There are so many that sometimes they all blur together in my memory. I've played this course 3 or 4 times, I think. Always in very good shape in winter, greens putted good but didn't hold well. Fairways were also firm with no bare spots. Rough dead and beaten down. but thats normal in Az because of water restrictions. Course is always e-mailing tee time specials. There are some challenging holes here, better than average course.

Played Oct 22. Rained the day before so course was soft. Course was in very good shape as always. Good old style tree lined park course. Several holes go right up to the red rocks Sedona is famous for. Sedona Golf Resort is only a few blocks away. Now that Seven Canyons is open to the public, Sedona is a real golf destination. Tee times for all three are on Golfnow. Seven canyons is a must play, it is in a canyon surrounded by red rock mountains. Probably the most amazing setting I have ever played in. I mention this because it is not listed on this site.

Played June 19. Course is now called Bison Golf & Country Club. They changed some of the holes and added new ones. The new holes are very good, some of the old holes are very bad. Course is in decent shape. There was supposed to be a new club house by the new holes but Bison went bankrupt and it wasn't finished. Means the driving range is very far from old club house. Some of the old holes are very narrow with no rough to keep ball in play.

Played 5-15. Been awhile since I played here. Course in better shape, actually very nice fairways and greens. Nice to play a course not surrounded by houses. Not an outstanding layout but better than most subdivision courses. Trees there have grown enough to help define holes. They have planted more trees, should have done this long ago. I think it was supposed to be a links type course, originally had tall grass for rough.

Plated March 14. First time playing here, was very impressed. Have always heard Raven was better so put off playing here. This is more of a subdivison course but very well laid out, liked it as much as Raven. The course was in very good shape except for ball marks on the greens and little sand in the traps. This course gets a lot of play so the ball marks are understandable. The traps being so thin is not, I bounced up into the ball several times making these deep traps impossible. Still, will definitely play here again.
