Played there Monday (4/9) and was really taken aback by some of the conditions. The fairways were thin and half the time you were hitting off hard-pan lies. The greens were very bumpy and uneven. They are doing aeration next week so that may have had something to do with that. Grass around the greens was patchy and uneven and the sand, well sand at an LA City Muni is always bad. I felt like I was playing an overpriced goat track in Ohio. Someone needs to take the groundskeeper to task there. I've always liked playing at Woodley and shot my best round there years ago, but I will not go back until they do something to improve this place. Do yourself a favor and avoid this course for now as it is definitely not worth the greens fee.

Played on Monday 7/22. Great thing about this course is that you can basically walk up and get on the course w/o a reservation within 15 minutes after 9 am if playing as a single. Hot day! By the 3rd hole I was drenched. That aside, the course is in pretty good shape for mid-July, the fairways were green with very few brown areas and the greens were in good shape despite them running a little slower than I remember. Two things bothered me the most. First, the tee boxes were not tightly mowed and second, there was standing water in the most unusual areas and not just a puddle here or there, but to the point where certain areas on the front-9 were casual water/mud take a drop areas. Seemed very out of character. Overall though, a 4 1/2-hour round on a very warm day made it seem not so hot. Of all the LA munis out there this one seems to be in the best shape at this time.
