Went out at 9:00 for $40 - Greenskeeper.org special. Any time after 9:00 is $40, before 9 is $55.

Course is a great combination of challenges and letting you keep the ball in play. From the White tees there is no forced carries - back tees would require 180 yard tee shots. Condition was excellent. You wouldn't know that the temperature was over 100. No brown spots anywhere and the greens were slow and held quite well. Didn't realize that they just finished aerating the greens - no punch marks. In summary one of the best public courses in the CV. Tomorrow I'm playing the Mountain View course at 9:00.

Course plays a lot better than it looks. Fairways are totally browned out but it's just the grass being dormant. Very few bare spots and very playable. NO ROUGH, just more brown stuff. Greens were very bumpy and pretty fast. Sand bunkers are actually dirt bunkers but not too packed down so that you can get a club under the ball.

Very few flat holes. Two par 5s play sharply downhill with LOTS of roll and two sharply uphill. The slope ofhese holes and a few other par 4s give you a variance of +/- 50 yards on your drives. On the signature 394 yard par 4 from the Whites, my normal 180 yard drive rolled out to 300 yards due to the 280 foot drop at the teebox and a wind at our backs. My playin partner drove OVER the green. All in all, one of the better Corona courses.

Took about 5 1/2 hours - no marshall or drink cart ever showed up. No matter how warm it is when you begin, make sure you have long sleeves in the bag if you plan to finish after 3:30. When the sun goes behind the mountains, the winds kick up and the temperature plunges.

Green fee was $41.00 from Teeoff.com

It's quite sad the sorry state thate Los Lagos is in now due to the water shortage. This had always been one of the better Orange County munis but now the course is pathetic. The only green on the site are the greens and the tee boxes. The fairways and rough are completely brown with many bare spots. The greens were extremely fast and combined with the sharp grades on many holes made putting very difficult. Let's pray for rain or else this land will soon become a cow pasture.

Played Chino Creek about a month ago and was pleasanrly surprised - so decided to give Butterfield a chane. WHAT A MISTAKE. Fairways had many dead spots, rough was totally bare around the greens, bunkers had no loose sand and tee boxes were all chewed up. This is a truly awful course and wasn't worth the $15 green fee that I paid through teeoff.com.

First time I have played this course (Chino Creek) in over 10 years and I was pleasantly surprised. Conditions were well above average for a Corona-Chino area course. Fairways had no bare spots, greens rolled true and were receptive to approach shots and teeing areas were spotless. Only negative were the dirt bunkers - sand was disguised as hardpack. Ownership has definitely upgraded the facility in the past few years. Best of all, I paid $9.00 for an 11:00 tee time at teeoff.com!!!

Condition - Water rationing has had a big effect. Fairways and rough were browned out. Ground was extremely hard. Pitching and chipping was extremely difficult as club would bounce if ground was struck even slightly behind ball. It was like playing on hardpan. Strange condition since I played at El Dorado Park two days ago and it was still green. Needed a hammar to put tees into the ground on some holes.

Safety - Fairways are very close together and due to many doglegs, shots routinely sail into adjacent fairways. I had 4 balls sail past my cart and others in the group had similar experience. Hole orientation gave no thought to its impact on errant shots.

Pace of play - Took 6 hours and 5 minutes, and this was on Masters Sunday. Constant flow of golfers playing balls in our fairway a major reason of slowing. Of course, the large number of fivesomes didn't help. Neither does the low skill level of many of the golfers.

Last played here over 5 years ago and decided to give it a try. will be at least 5 years before I return.

"Rated BEST Playing Conditions in Orange County by Greenskeeper.org Members & Staff: (2006)"

I haven't played here for about 4 years until this week and I was shocked at the condition. They had a special fo $49 for senior, including breakfast, lunch, 2 drinks and range balls. Too good to be true.

This course had always been an upscale public course - now it is just a middling muni - note the sub 6 rating vs 7+ in years past. Tee boxes were full of bare spots, fairways were weedy and full of holes, rough was non-existent and traps were either great or closed. Greens were very soft and bumpy. Didn't see one person maintaining the course during the round, thus the condition was not unexpected. I don't know why American Golf has let this course deteriorate so much but it's clear that the 'deal' was made to get some players back to the course. I expect the number of golfers will drop dramatically after the special expires on 12/19.

Straightforward course in reasonable shape, but ....... as usual the round played on a Tuesday at 11:30 AM took nearly 5 hours. Never saw a marshall. I don't think I have ever played a round here in less the 4 3/4 hours.

Conditions were fairly good except for the tee boxes which were just piles of dirt. I've seen scalping in the past but in thiscase the grass was totally gone. Worst tee boxes I have seen in quite a while.

Not much excitement in the layout. Wide, wide fairways and flat clear openings - sort of a wide field with flagsticks. Very, very slow, Took over 5 hours (Tuesday morning). Two groups ahead of us had fallen quite far behind but marshal refused to do anything. My playing partners said that this playing speed was 'par for the course'.

Played today at 3:00. In high 90s at that time but temp started to drop and wind kicked up so it was very pleasant. The $27 green fee after 2:00 was very, very pleasant.

Haven't played here in n early 10 years and found that the previous reviews were right on target. Lots of different type holes - carries over water, sharp doglegs, awkward placement of trees near greens, heavily bunkered and wide open green areas. Only thing that I didn't like was that par 3s are very short, from combos they were less than 130 yards and the other was 150 yards. As mentioned in another review, the sand inh the traps is very crusty - looks like they are not raked as part of maintenance. Sand is OK but a ahrd shells forms, probably due to the winds and heat.

Until 8/7 Gilman Road will be closed - detour adds about 10 minutes to the drive, clearly marked. Be careful when you leave however you need to go back through the detour - but not signed at the club.

This is definitely a course in transition, hopefully to one that will eventually turn out much better. Best part were greens and bunkers. Greens rolled very well but being relatively soft there was a number of ballmarks. Bunkers had nice sand but every bunker that I was in (and it was quite a few) therre were numerous ballmarks. Players on this course haven't learned the first rule of kindergarten - clean up after yourselves. I believe this is due to the culture of many of the players as you see similar results in other courses in the area.

Weakest part of the course was tha fairways. A number of them were scraped and left with ground under repair. Others were lush, too lush in fact as the balls would sit down in the grass even in the center of the fairway. I'll give the greenskeeper a pass on this because they are obviously in the midst of course improvements.

Beyyer than average course, but definitely not elite. Views are outstanding and many of the holes are interesting to play but course condition is very inconsistent. Rough is very spotty with many place being bare. Greens were mostly good but somewhat bumpy. Prbably better than most of the Corona courses but not one to return to very often.
