Played on 2/12, around 12:30 tee time at what I think is a steal of a rate, $55 on c4tt. This course is a tough one for sure. In fact, due to the recent rains the rough is consistently lush and beautiful, but punitive to the extreme. No intermediate cut, so it's fairway or bust - you're going to be pitching out to the fairway instead of taking your approach. Lost one or two balls due to the thick rough, even though I hit them only a few yards off the fairway. Greens were fabulous - fast, challenging, and consistent. As for layout, I found it be a good mix of elevation changes, doglegs, and water hazards. The back 9 is better than the front in my opinion, helped by the fact that the conditions are not as damp as the heavily shaded front nine. The hole locations on the par 3's were very evil, most notably the uphill #9 was tucked in the back left of the green protected by numerous bunkers. #13 was tucked in the front right, maybe 5 or 6 paces in front of the bunker (think #12 at Pebble Beach on a Sunday, except right side instead of left). Cart girl came around 2 or 3 times total, more than adequate. Overall, a great experience...but beware, if your a high HCP like me, you're in for a high score for sure.
