Overall not too bad of shape. Greens were actually very nice. A little shaggy, but very few ball marks. Woodley is what Woodley is, not exactly Pebble Beach, but still in decent condition if you want to get out and play.

The course is seriously over-watered... especially the greens. Footprints everywhere on the greens due to the soft turf.

Played twilight, and the conditions were decent. Flat and wide opened course so it's easy to shoot a good round. Reasonable green fees. For a LA County course, this one isn't too bad.

Got the first tee time on a weekday and they put my partner and me together with two other guys, then sent a twosome in a cart out behind us, which seemed a little odd. We played in 3:15 and still felt a bit rushed. The course is pretty green, but the greens are sooo slow, it was very difficult to get the speed right on the putts, and one of them had 2 inches of standing water in the middle of it. What's the ruling on that? :) And there were three tees with the sprinklers actually spraying the whole tee box. It's a fun course and the staff is nicer than your average muni course, but I won't be going out at 5:49am again anytime soon.

Played Sun a.m. 7/27. Wide open, but more interesting than the Balboa or Encino courses. Course is in good shape and greens are very receptive. Perhaps not a challenge to low handicaps, it is a good muni course with a friendly staff...and at my play level, makes for a very enjoyable Sunday morning.

this is a total practice/bring a beginner here/glorified driving range type course.

it has a few good holes(4, 12 from back tee, 13) for better golfers but for the most part, i'm embarrassed if i don't shoot in the 70's here. i actually shot a 79 this morning and new i left at least 4 STUPID shots out there.
it does have the challenge of length though. 6800 yds.

i give this course, including it's mediocre conditions, a 5.

Played today at noon with Fear and miguelgolf2007. Round took 5 hours.

This is a great course if you want to get some confidence back in your driver. No frills, pretty wide open, but the length keeps it challenging.

Hard to get into too much trouble here - each player in our group finished the round with the same ball they started with. Fear, miguel, and I all finished with the same score - 83. (our 4th shot a 76 - I'm hopin' he'll join greenskeeper and will join us at some of the GK Outings).

The greens were in good shape and pretty consistent - our group only had a couple of 3-putts.

Fun day, beautiful weather, great company!

Played on Sunday 6/8/08....starter was very nice in accomodating our tee time and push it back since I didn't arrive at the correct course. I was at Wilson instead of Woodley....started with a "w" LOL.

Well, this was my first time playing here and we teed off around 9:00 a.m. and finished the round in just a little over a four hour period. The fairways had very little bare spots, I would say 95% of the fairways gave you beautiful lies, fluffy, and almost felt that the ball was teed up for on the fairway. The disadvantage was that the ball didn't roll much off the tee and some par 4s from the blue tees are pretty long. The course is WIDE OPEN, you can pretty much "bomb and gouge" throughout the course.

The greens are large, "soft", and very receptive so you must play your CARRY distances on all your approach shots or pay the consequence of putting over a long distance with a high probability of 3-putting. This course should be very easy to score on if your a single digit handicapper. I still managed to find trouble otherwise I would have shot in the mid 70s today...darn driver! Well, as noeldaof says, "Keep it in the short grass".

Played on Friday morning May 23rd with LEWGVLINSURANCE, Big_Al, & deano. Windy, raining, & cold weather made for difficult scoring conditions. The course is in average condition; tee boxes and fairways have lots of divots, some bare spots, so they are not in good shape; the rough is consistent but high enough in some areas, that you could lose your ball; Bunkers OK; greens are in good shape but a little bumpy.

Played Sunday early, but felt like the middle of the day! Very hot! Course is in decent shape. Teeboxes were fine. Fairways were in good condition, some bare/hard spots. Sand was on the hard side. Rough was okay and hittable. Greens were good, a little bumpy for me, some putts were like rollercoasters up and down up and down... On hot days they should have a cart girl. Keep us from fainting from the heat and after a Saturday of heavy drinking! Overall, course was good.

Played Today Sunday 5/18/08.. Before it hit 100 degrees in the valley.. It definitely was hot today especially when your walking.. The greens are in great shape; rolling true, soft, but on the slower side... The fairways are looking decent, but I don't expect to much at the muni's.. Sand traps getting better, and rough was recently cut down.. My only issue with the course today was the pace of play.. We were behind a slow 4some, no Marshalls so our round took 5hrs!!

Played on Sat 4/26 and walked on at about 3:00 with a buddy. No wait and didn't have to much a wait on any of the holes until we got to about 14. Course was in good shape for a LA area muni and the greens looked like they recovered from the aeration nicely. They were really firm and I had trouble locating any of my ball marks and couldn't really see any others on the greens either. Only complaint would be the traps and not from people not raking after their shots but from the geese and whatever other creatures they have on the course the traps had footprints all over them and it made it tough to play out of especially when you went into a footprint from a larger animal (Dog or something). Other than that it was a fun round and felt good to get out after my 4 month layoff.

Got in 18 on Friday the 20th in 4 hours. Amazing! And the fairway on number 14 was nearly perfect. The grass on that hole seems happier than some other fairways. Greens were friendly enough to allow me a couple o' birdies. Love that 4 hr round! Kudows to "Wide-Open Woodley"

Played April 18, 2008, with TheBigDog, Yoondaman, and Moneysworth. Thanks to TBD for setting it up. $24 to walk at 12 noon wasn't bad either. Finished in 4 1/2 to 5 hrs. Front nine greens were a little bumpy due to some aerification a couple, few weeks ago. Back nine greens somewhat better, probably got a week headstart on the aerifying. Most of the greens were fairly soft and held shots well--at least the other guys' shots (mine did not find g.i.r.). It's going to be nice in a couple weeks or so.

Woodley Lakes was nice. The greens were really good and the fairways are wide so even a bad tee off is not going to put you out of the mix on too many holes. I had fun and never real was frustrated. I think you'll have a good time as well.

Played 3/24 under perfect weather conditions. While the greens are in wonderful shape, the fairways are almost punishing. Evenly mowed sections of fairway was rare, so we were hitting off clumpy turf or hard pan.

What can you say about Woodley? Basic golf, not much more, but you can always get out. Kind of wish I'd waited and played either Encino or Balboa, but the waiting list was too long. Nothing really wrong with Woodley, just not very exciting.

Started Woodley after playing Encino.. Grabbed a quick bite so we started around 1pm.. Pace of play was a little slow, I was surprised on how packed the course was on a Monday afternoon. Once again I was pleasantly surprised on how the tee boxes and greens were in good shape. The greens are pretty lush, but fasster than Encino. As expected the fairways were dried out.. But for $24 you can't really complain!!

Played on Saturday. Rained the day before, which made it a little soggy. Fairways were wide, so you can let it rip from the tee, with still a decent chance for your second shot. Tee boxes were good and fairways were in fair condition, some bare spots and alot of unrepaired divots. Greens were in good condition but the bunkers sucked(due to rain). Pace of play was great, Our round took a little under 4 hours (walking). Great time to shoot the breeze with bros! Warning major Duck droppings everywhere!

Good overall course. Enjoyed the model airplanes flying over head. Brought my disabled wife with me to spectate and was shocked by the rules. She needs a walker to get around and can't stand up without holding on to something. They charged her a green fee, half cart and club rental. I had invited a friend to play with us that day so I payed the extra money for her to ride along. I guess their are other places with the same rules, but I have not found one yet.

Played here on 11/04 at 12 noon. They have raised the rate on weekends to $31. Overall, the course looked pretty good, especially since at this time of year there can be lots of tree debris everywhere. Grounds crew must be busting butt. Several areas had standing water and saturated turf, even in front of #14 green. Greens could use another week to heal in from the latest aerification; however, they rolled o.k.

played today for first time and really enjoyed the course. nothing tricky just straight ahead holes. course is long from blues, but fair because of the wide fairways. greens still not ready from being punched, give it another week or so. tee boxes were good and fairways were okay with some bare areas. overall, i enjoyed it and will go back and play. also has grass driving range and lots of areas for short game practice.

The greens, although a bit slow, rolled nicely. About half of the fairways have been scalped. It appears the mower was set too low, leaving many chewed up browned areas to deal with. Friendly staff & good pace.

Played this course for the first time last week, and I enjoyed it very much. I'm a novice player, and found the course very challenging but not so frustrating as to want to quit! I agree with one poster that the drinks are way too expensive: Other than that, it's a solid course that most should enjoy.

Everyone always says Woodley is easy & boring. I want to know what they shot. Woodley is very long and not at all boring. It's actually in very good shape right now too. Not very crowded here either. Don't know why. Woodley has the best driving range around. Grass range. Open late. If you haven't played here you must try it. Very wide fairways. Large smooth greens. But whatever you do, DO NOT GO INTO THE BAR & ORDER DRINKS. The most expensive drinks I've ever seen!

Played TwiLight 6/23.

Course continues to be in better-than-espected shape. Greens are in very good shape. All run true and smooth. They could stand to be a little faster, but beggars cant be choosers. Fairways, Rough, Traps, and Tee Boxes all in very good shape for a muni.

Can't beat it for $7 super twilight. Only complaint...WHY ARE THE SPRINKLERS GOING ON WHILE THERE IS STILL PLENTY OF LIGHT OUT?!?

Wow! What a change a month makes! Woodley is in very good condition right now, the best I've ever seen this course.

Greens were beautiful. Green, well taken care of, few ball marks. Ran true, medium/fast, no bumps, no damages holes.

Fairways were actually fairways. First time in Woodley Lakes History! The same grass, actual grass coverage, rough/fairway distinction, green, lush. Unbelievable. Complete shocker.

Rough was actual rough. It could have been better, but beggers cant be choosers, right?

Tee Boxes were all level, lush. Some were soggy, I guess they watered a little extra since its been extra dry lately.

Sand was only negative. Unfortunately, I was in the sand more that David Fricken Hasslehoff yesterday, so I got to know them well. Different conditions in every trap. First trap, sand was wet and hard packed. Second trap was light and very fluffy. Club slid right under ball. Same inconsistancy throughout the course.

$22 to walk on weekdays. $28.50 weekends. Finnished in 4 hours. Great day to be on the course.

Play Woodley soon. The conditions wont last.

Woodley is definitely on the come back as far as the greens are concerned. Cychow and I played with a friend who played the course two days ago and he said the greens were like night and day. I guess they finally gave the greens a good cut and rolled them. As for the rest of the course, well, just like everyone says, worst fairways you will find anywhere on a regulation golf course in Southern California. Much of this has to do with the flood basin hard pack clay based ground the course sits on and the other factors are not enough water and fertilizer. Put it all together, THIN and BARE spots galore. But hey, sure tunes up your iron game. I’ve always enjoyed Woodley as a confidence builder and the best course around to simply grip it and rip it!

The course should be in peak condition this time of year. Instead, It's in some of the worst shape I've seen it in. What happened?

Played Thursday 4/19 and Saturday 4/21. Hey it's my local course, Come On!

The fairways were in absolutely abysmal shape. Inconsistant coverage, different types of grass. Strange, because we got heavy rains Friday, and they drained VERY well. They weren't muddy; just complete garbage.

The Greens are taking for ever to recover. Maybe this is because the greens are so big? I don't know, but they were still sandy and bumpy, 3 weeks after aeration.

Rough is non-existant.

Tee boxes okay. Groups need to take care of them. Use the mix they give you!!!

Traps a little wet, but not muddy. OK after the rains.

Overall, I enjoy playing Woodley. It's a fun place to knock around the ball. It's long, with some challenges, some water, and some interesting holes. It's cheap, easy to get on, the staff is very friendly, nic practice area...only they put so little effort into it. I agree with my father (barkinesq). If they put half the effort into Woodley that they put into Rancho, Wilson, Harding, the Course would be in fantastic shape.

BTW: Really slow round on Thursday, Nice pace on Saturday...What?

Played on 4/21/07. Maybe I was spoiled by playing Ranch Park last week. The condition of Woodley today was not good. The fairways were awful. To be fair, the greens were in decent shape. Why is Rancho in such nice condition and Woodley Lakes not?
Hopefully they will improve the course's condition because it is a fun course to play.

A little dissapointed in the staff here. They said they aerated the greens on Monday, so we were expecting the greens to be sandy. But they were aerating some greens while we were on the course. 17 and 18 had temp. greens because they were literally punching and laying down sand as we played. Unfortunate too, as the greens here are always in really good condition.

Oh well, still an enjoyable round. The rest of the course was in decent shape. It has been really dry here, and today it wa svery humid, so the course maybe played 15-20 yards longer per hole. Because of dryness fairway and rough werent in fantastic condition. But still playable and enjoyable.

Wait 2 weeks before you play here. Greens should be back to tip-top shape by than.

Played Woodley Lakes on 3/24/07. Started at about 12:00 pm. Had a 11:44 tee time. Not too bad for a Saturday. Pace of play was a little slow, but not bad for a Saturday at a Municipal course.

Greens and tee boxes were in great shape. The fairways were pretty good as was the rough. Sand traps were inconsistent - at least the 2 that I was unluck enough to land in.

Course is fairly long from the blue tees (6800 yds) for the average duffer like me. You can't get into too much trouble as the fairways are very wide. A few of the par 4 are very long which makes them challenging.

Woodley Lakes is a good value and I will return.

With my reservation card, I was able to call in Friday Night fir a Saturday tee-time at 11:45. Awesome!!

Course is in some of the best shaoe I've seen it in. For a Muni, its outstanding. Greens played very smooth and consistant. Nothing too tricky, some minor ball mark damage, but very smooth rolling.

Fairways were in the best shape I've ever seen them. Most areas were pretty lush. Fairways were nicely green. Only downer was some areas were a little muddy. It had been unusually warm for march the prior week, so I guess the maintenance guys watered. It turned out to be low 70s-high 60s so some areas never really drained that well.

The rough was actually challenging. Woodley is pretty wide open, so its hard to get in a lot of trouble. But a lot of holes had some deceivingly thick rough.

The traps were in good condition. Not wet, not too fluffy. More importantly the 2 traps I were in played exactly the same.

Tee boxes were in great shape. All level, some divot damage on the par 3s, but nothing too unusual. All lush and no bare areas to throw you off.

Customer service was fantastic. The marshal really went out of his way to help us out. It was quite windy and some palm branches were falling on the course. I saw him at least 6 or 7 times picking up branches on different areas of the course. He even pointed out suspect areas to us and holes where we should keep an eye on the trees just incase a branch falls. Np cart person, but the snack shack back of #6 green and #7 tee was open and the women was very nice and helpful.

Most of all, play was consistant. People actually were cogniscant of their surroundings. Group infront waved us up, we waved group behind us up, it was a really smooth moving round. Long? yes, close to 5 hours, but there was no long wait on any hole, and the other players were pretty good about keeping things moving.

Cant beat the price, $28.50 to walk on a weekend, $3 for a nice Bag Boy hand cart. Reservation card was $20 and worth every penny. I'll be back many times.

Played today at 7:15. Started to rain about the 8th hole. Course held up very nicely in the rain. Greens are in FANTASTIC condition, way better than 95% of the Non-Muni prices out there.

Fairways could use some work. The grass is growing in nicely, its still a little brown. Didnt land in any traps, but other players did and they played very consistant.

Well worth the $22. Got myself an LA City card so I can play these courses more often

Played 1/13. Got on at Super twilight rate, $8.50. Used a cart ($16!!) to get in more holes. Greens in good shape, traps in good shape. Fairways and rough in absolutely horrible shape. I realize its winter and its been getting cold, but there is no excuse for that kind of garbage. Got ball confused with duck feathers many times, Duck excriment all over the place.

Wait till spring or mid fall to play when course is in better condition.

Golfed here on Jan. 6th., 2nd group out. Unfortunately, not called to tee box in a timely manner. Pin placement on the first green was tough-back, left, on top of a mound, probably 4 paces from edge. Not nice for a weekend. Winds were pretty stiff- I'd say about 25 mph- and cold. Did not really let up until the 18th. Greens were recently verticut; putting across the cuts can sometimes make a bumpy run. Otherwise, pretty soft and smooth. Most of course is dormant grass, but playable with few barren areas.

Played a couple of weeks ago on December 14th. Pace of play was decent once we got past the first par 3 hole (#3). This time of year there is significant leaf drop and the low angle of the sun can make finding your ball difficult. Greens rolled nicely, fairways and rough were o.k., maybe a little on the thin side due to dormant grasses. Not bad for 22 bucks.

Played Friday, December 14, 2006. Greens were in pretty good shape (with the exception of number one), rolling smoothly and fairly lacking of ball marks. Leaves from deciduous trees and the low angle of the sun can make it harder to locate your ball this time of year. Played the round in about 4 1/2 to 5 hours.

Played here on Sunday 11/05. Course was in very good shape and in my opinion has the nicest greens out of all the dept of parks and recreation courses. If you can get out early pace of play is pretty quick, otherwise it can be slow at times.

Good track for the $. Open and forgiving, but the greens are a little trickier and more interesting than those at Encino.

They were aerating the fairways yesterday but the green were great. Easy course with good pace of play. Wide open with large flat greens. Good place to crush drives and roll in some putts.

Played today 08/28/06 and the greens were great..

I like soft greens. The ball sticks right where I want it too and my puts are controllable.

Anyway, the course was in great shape and should be for the next few weeks. Greens are a bit slow but lush and had a great concistancy and color all around.

Didnt hit into the sand today so no report on that :)

Id suggest taking a trip to Woodley anytime in the next few weeks.

Greens are soft & a little furry, but rolled fairly well. Seems like a bit more water has hit the course & it's fairly green after the heat wave. Overall, not bad.

Woodley is still my favorite golf course in LA for walking. The fairways have come back since they started putting some water on them. What a difference! Now they more closely match the greens which are always in good condition. Early mornings this course can play in 3 1/2 hrs although 4 1/2 is the norm.

Greens are a bit bumpy while recovering from aeration. I know the problems with maintaining a city run course, and simpathize with the ground crew, but the fairways are awful. There is at least 4 types of grass & clover growing out there. All growing at
different rates. It goes from clumps to hard pan. I had better lies in the rough most of the time.

played sat. 3/25. decent time of 4.5 hrs walking. fairways are absolutely horrrendous! Patchy clumps everywhere, diffuse bare hardpack spots, balls hit straight down the middle bounce thirty yards right or left. ? fungus or poor overseeding earlier in year. Strategy was to hit to the " rough ", where at least some grass gave you a decent lie. Greens OK, slow. Bunkers 50:50 - one side of greenside might be fluffy, the other side i.e. hole 10 more like sand on a board.
Hope things improve rapidly as Spring approaches

I PLAYED ON SUNDAY 3/5/06. GOT AN EARLY ENOUGH STARTING TIME THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THIS COURSE ATTRACTS EVERY BEGINNER AND WANNA BE IN THE CITY. WE GOT BEHIND A GROUP OF PLAYERS THAT HAD TO BE TRYING TO PLAY SLOW AND THE MARSHAL WAS COMING TO THEIR DEFENSE AND TRYING TO TELL US THAT HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. IF THAT'S THE CASE WHY HAVE THESE GUYS OUT THERE! THESE GUYS WERE SO SLOW THAT WHEN WE GOT TO THE NINTH HOLE THE MARSHAL FINALLY TALKED THEM INTO LETING US PLAY THROUGH. GOOD THING , BECAUSE WHEN WE FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH THE GROUP IN FRON OF US WE WERE TWO AND A HALF HOLES AHEAD OF THOSE BUTT HEADS. THIS COURSE IS NOT IN THAT GREAT OF SHAPE THAT ANYONE SHOULD HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THE TYPE OF PLAY THAT THESE GUYS EXHIBITED AHEAD OF US. GREENS WERE OKAY THE REST OF THE COURSE WAS JUNK, I GUESS MY PERSPECTIVE IS MUDDIED BY THE GROUP OF NUCKLEHEADS THAT THOUGHT THAT THEY HAD A RIGHT TO PLAY AS SLOW AS THEY DID. THEY ACCUSED US OF BEING RUDE, WELL IT'S RUDE TO NOT PLAY READY GOLF.

Played on 2/4. Woodley was in Woodley shape. There is always some odd water thing going on here. Mystery water in the middle of a fairway or a sprinkler coming on near a green or in the fairway as you approach your ball. Only real complaint is the Old Grouchy Marshall with bad teeth and a mustache. He never helps and always becomes defensive when you mention slow play. Had a run in with him and got the usual response. He accused my playing partner of having an attitude. He drove away muttering something and then proceeded to visit each of other players in my group to explain what jerks me and my partner were. Why does the City of Los Angeles pay guys like this to drive around in carts and NOT DO ANYTHING? Life is too short to go around angry, especially on a GOLF COURSE. Hey mister Marshall, I don't give a $#@! about you. I just want to complete my round of golf in a decent amount of time. Why dont YOU just do your job?

Can't complain- you know what you're gonna get at Woodley. Very decent greens, slow play, and not too much rough. My only complaint is this: would someone please turn off the sprinklers on the 7th green while we putt? Nothing like trying to dodge the water while putting for birdie during a tournament...and no, I missed.

The conditions were the best I have ever seen at Woodley, however with the pace of play was horrible. I had a 12:45 tee time and couldn't even get all 18 holes completed by the time it got dark at 5. Some one needs to get on the slow players about picking up the pace a little. Overall, I would recomend this course just try to avoid playing on the weekend.

I teed off for my first round at Woodley Lakes at 6:50 a.m. on October 21 and was impressed by the speed of play -- we were done in just under 4 hours (compared to over 5 hours at Knollwood 2 weeks ago). It's a very straightforward course: flat with very little trouble and large greens. I plan on returning because of the pace of play.

Right now Woodley is about the best shape I've seen it ever. I have been playing this course off and on for about 8 years, and it is in great condition. The greens have always been better than most La city courses, but now they are even better. Good job for the grounds crew. Although it is still a very easy and straight forward course, right now you can't beat the condition.

As I get out of my vehicle, shoes untied and 10 mins late for my 830 tee time on Sunday 7/17 a friendly voice says, "You the one that overslept?" and then kindly gave me a cart ride to my foursome on the 2nd tee. I dont know who was complaining about the Marshalls at Woodley but I was impressed. Thanks. Got to mention the friendly hottie at the snack shack. I made 2 trips. My partner talked me out of a 3rd. Tee Boxes in GREAT condition. Nice friendly fairways. Lost no balls. Greens in great shape. About 4 1/2 hour round. No waiting. Cant wait to go back!

played on a Saturday afternoon with no advanced tee time. Play a bit slow as nomal. Greens in great condition, but a little on the slow side. This course can make you think you are a decent golfer, wide open and little penalty for hitting it sideways. I forget golf can be fun when I play on a tough course that penalizies me for wayward shots, so have fun and play woodley but be prepared when get to a "real" golf course!!

If you just want to post a low score, go to Woodley. If you want a reasonabe pace of play, or a course that does not resemble a series of closely shorn football fields with tee boxes at one end and greens at the other, don't go to Woodly. Pace is slow, the golf course is BORING, flat, and less than uneventful. The greens are the high note as they are in very good shape for a municipal course today. Fairways are seemingly miles wide and the roll on little or no grass is long off the tee. Not an aesthetic course, but if you need to get some bugs out, and want to lose no balls, go .

although we complained to the marshal that a 3-some in front of us was playing slow, his comment was "Hey, it's a Sunday and it's Mother's Day". So what!@! Remember Number 1 rule..."Stay up to the 4-some in front of you". In spite of that, the course played as well as this on ever has. Although flat as a pancake and wide open, we had a good time out there and that's what counts, in spite of the marshal.

Played on May 1st:The greens are in great shape after being aerated earlier last month, they played real fast and firm. The fairways are getting real thin and the hotter weather is going to
get to them unless they do something about it. The course is a wide-open course with very little
trouble to get into. It has some length to it but very easy to get around and score. The best feature on the course is the practice areas some of the best the city has to offer.

The place is in crappy shape right now after the rain. The fairways have tons of grounds under repair, and they're letting the grass grow so the pace of play is slowed down by folks looking for balls in 6-12 inch rough. Some of this rough is in the fairways. Played Encino the day before, and it is in much better shape.

Woodley Lakes Has too many fricken geese. The greens are full of geese sh$t and when you're trying to chip around the greens, your lucky if you hit the ball without getting geese sh$t all over your club pants and sometimes who knows where else. They need to do something about this problem because the geese are definately starting to multiple.
The last time I played their my pants, putter and PW were covered with sh$t . It's ridiculous

Woodley Lakes Golf Course was playing its typical self this time of year. Fairways a little thin, rough (if you want to call that since half the time the lie is better then the fairways) was little thin and about 1 inch long. The greens still need more time to recover from the aeration as they were bumpy and a bit slow. Give Woodley another 2 weeks and the greens should be in much better condition. Great course for beginners and those needing a confidence boost.

Woodley. There’s no place like it. Bust a drive 100 yards into an adjacent fairway and still have a great look at the green. Crank a line drive up the middle and watch it roll 250 yards. But you know what, as easy as it is, it’s great to have a course like this. Beginners love it because they can actually find their ball. Low indexers like it to build confidence and work out some swing flaws when their game goes astray. And of course we all like the city rates. Also they have a nice grass driving range and brand new facilities. I’m a Woodley fan. Can you tell? Oh ya I shot a 75 there my last time out so that helps too :)

Played on Monday, 7/27. Course was in the best shape I've ever seen it. Fairways were green! Not bad for the end of July.

Since it's a muni course, the tee boxes were showing some wear but not too bad. Golfers need to learn how to fix the greens - I fix my ball mark and 2-3 more every green.

I play Woodley quite often and I was impressed with the upkeep.

Well, seeing as how I'm the only one that plays this course....

The course is greening up. Fairways were pretty good actually. Tees, ok. I wasn't in the sand today, so I can't comment there. The greens were in fact, green, but you couldn't putt them to save your life. Not even that bumpy, but they were long, soft, and SLOW. I think I made one from 12 feet, and maybe one from 7, but otherwise you had to be in gimme range to make it. Dead straight 4 footers would bounce off line. Fully HALF of my strokes were putts on the front nine today. Not good.

Oh well. At least we're playing golf and not shoveling snow.

Winter at Woodley is a wonderful thing
Grip it and rip it on every swing
The fairways are brown, well, so is the rough
The dance floors aren't bad, but not fast enough

Watch out for the goose doo, and that guy with the hose
The tees aren't so bad if you don't look too close
Take out the big stick and go for the green
Just like Big John, if you know what I mean

All in all, you can never go wrong
When you whack it at Woodley your drives roll out long
Though conditions aren't Pebble, and the track is no Troon
Woodley is better than poking your eye with a spoon

The city of Los Angeles needs to hire a greenskeeper and not a gardner the bunkers are wet and muddy The fairways are just pathetic there is no grass it's a joke the ground is so hard it's like hitting off concrete you dont need to worry about replacing divots. The greens are in fair condition but slow. Very satisfied with the course conditions. Being a city golf course, it is in nice shape. Greens were great, a little bumpy but for a municipal golf course, it is in super shape. Twilight rates at 13 dollars is very worth it. Able to finish at least 9 holes. The other course conditions were ok.

Several tee boxes recently aerated causing biting knats to hover as you hit. The greens are close to fully recovering from the aeration.

Ah, gotta love Woodley. Grip it and rip it. Doesn't really matter where.

The greens are coming back nicely. But they're plenty slow. Should be quite nice in a week or two. We saw two fairways with the plugs out and all over the place, but it looked like they were almost done with the fairways.

Managed to get off in group 2 (really 4th... two "rabbit groups") as a walkup twosome. I was surprised, as so many of the other courses around are aerating still.

Fun as always... played pretty good too.

They are punching the greens starting today. This course is a confidence builder. You will never lose your ball. The greens are flat and the toughest part of them is hitting your ball hard enough. If you can't break 80 hear you never will.

Too many yokels without golf ettiqute. A group behind us hit balls at the group in front of us for playing too slow.

Good course for practice with the longer clubs, be ready to grip it and rip it.

Best I've ever seen the course!!! Greens were a little soft, but it's what kept my score low. Hold-up at #3 a par 3, but after that we flew through the rest of the course. Only real challange is to hit the ball long (i.e. # 17- 4 par 442 form the blue), otherwise keep it straight and fire at the pin.
The new club house and resturant looked great.
The Goose drops weren't too bad and the fairways were wet in the morning, but by 10 am, they were dry.

Okay, this course is easy. If you want to make your score look good this is the course to play. The fairways are wide and the holes are short. If you play in the morning expect a very water logged course. Also, becareful of where you walk because of all the geese and their "contributions"!

Played 6/22. The whole course is just ridiculously overwatered; some tee boxes were like swamps; lots of swampy areas in the rough and some fairways had standing water -- all from watering. The greens would be nice if they cut them more than once a week or so... this afternoon they were slower than any greens I've ever played. This course does give you a great opportunity to air it out -- there's lenghth and it's plenty wide open. It's also a bird-watcher's paradise: saw lots of herons and egrets, many other cool wading birds, and of course, massive flocks of geese... which can be a problem because their waste is, well, abundant.

Played 5/26. Greens were back to being smooth after aerfication last month. They were kind of shaggy and slow, but the balled rolled true. Fairways were fair, rough was kind of high. They are moving the first tee box so you have to drive over the small pond. Also adding some nice new putting greens. The course just needs lots more personality, but it's okay for the price.

Yep, they aerated the greens. Lumpy bumpy. Played 4/9. Funny... I still seemed to make my normal amount of putts. That can't be good.

Rest of the place is pretty much as usual. Although the rough seemed a little longer than last time I played Woodley. Long enough to make trouble.

They're building some new practice greens with a big chipping area in front of the clubhouse, and moving the #1 tee up closer to the starter's window. Should make #1 a little more interesting by adding a carry over the pond to start your round.

For an inexpensive course greens stay in good shape. Fairways are a little hard especially around the greens. Has several long par 4 holes that will challange you.

March 10th. I've played this place many times with no expectations. Your basic spray it & play it, with no problem, if that's your game. But could somebody please mow these greens more than once a week?????!!!!!

Played 1/20/03. The winds were 30mph+ all day. Thank goodness this is wide open driving course, however the wind played havoc with the putts. Over all the course was in very nice condition and despite the winds, evryone enjoyed the course.

Played Feb 23. The greens were smooth, but pretty slow. Fairways were pretty thin in most area. Most holes are just straight ahead and they don't have much personality. They are long, but wide open. You can hit your driver almost anywhere and still have a decent shot to the green.

A long, open course. Very forgiving and a great place to try those new clubs out as there is not too much trouble here. A confidence building course.

Slow during the holidays (29th), but we teed off around 11. Still, on a course this wide open, we shouldn't have to wait on every shot. Pretty good greens, pretty brown and ugly everywhere else. Still better than working!

Played 2 Jan. Greens in good shape. Fairways spotty grass, but give long rolls. If a strong wind blows this can be a tough course!
