Perhaps everyone is staying home to watch the British Open, because there were not a lot of people here early this morning. Even the number of maintenance people seemed less? So it was a quiet beautiful summer morning walk.

Course is in good shape, but showing some signs of the recent heat. Nice to putt again with decent speed. Some areas in the rough also showing stress. Looks like they could use some additional watering in certain spots.

I understand the need for maintenance and I applaud the efforts by the green super to perform these required tasks, but it's amazing how much a course can change in a couple days; Last week the course was near perfect, but after punching/sanding the greens, punching the fairways, and tee boxes, the course felt nearly unplayable this morning! The greens ran about 5-6 on the stimp, zero roll in the fairways as the ball landed, it just stuck !

I know that in a week or so everything will be back to "normal" but it makes you appreciate how different conditions affect the playability of a course. I guess I'll stick with the South course for the next week or so, until they decide to work their magic on that course

After being out of state the past 8 days, it was a pleasure to return to dry non humid California weather. The course just felt "right" Greens were fast and smooth. Fairways firm and allowed some run. (unlike the bent fairways I'd been playing the past week) The snow white bunkers are just starting to lose some of their "crispness", but still great to play from.
Having one course closed due to a ladies event, the course was busy, but since I tee'd off so early, I was not affected. Nice to be home !

First off (As usual) at 5:20 on Mother's Day. There was NOBODY around, not even one car in the parking lot? I guess I'm lucky to be married to a golfer, who understands the need to get that "golf fix" everyday. The first people I saw was when I walked off #17, saw a walking foursome on #1. Even at the clubhouse, only a couple people there.

North course, like the south course, is in nice condition as they prepare for the Windmill Classic next week. Green speeds right now are at 11 to 11.5. I hope they don't try to bring them up to 12 or 13, because the North course becomes unplayable at those speeds.

Finally, after almost four months, all the bunkers have been totally completed. They are spectacular. I have been a member at Coto for over 28 years, and the one negative with respect to conditioning has always been the bunkers. Now they are the best part of the course. In addition to the great visual with the brilliant white contrasted against the green, they are all consistent in texture.

Course is in very nice condition right now. Fairways a little dry, but still plenty of turf. Greens rolling reasonably quick (11.5) and true. Now if we would only get some tee markers ???

I'm excited because the bunker project is nearing completion. (Still 4 holes to go) The bunkers which have been finished are fantastic ! But I still hope to stay out of them. The new sand plays very different than the old sand, so it will take some time to adjust.

Course looking very good right. After the rains, everything is green and the contrast with the Augusta White sand is stunning. The changes to the bunkering has made the course easier, at least for the 'average" player. Not much change for the "good" players however, which seems appropriate.

Green speeds seem to fluctuate a little too much from day to day, but otherwise the course is playing well.

Out early - very chilly (about 42 degrees) The bunker project is progressing nicely. They have only actually filled in three holes with the new Augusta white sand and it makes a wonderful contrast with the nice green grass. Most of the bunkers are dug out and reshaped, but not yet filled with sand. They has reduced the total amount of sand from over 5 1/2 acres to less than 3 acres. Many of the bunkers have either been repositioned, reduced in size, or totally eliminated. This should make the course play much easier for the majority of players. We'll see?

Fairways/rough are lush and have plenty of coverage. Greens are almost healed from the recent punching, but not completely. What is strange is that for the past few weeks, the course has been empty in the mornings? Too cold? Too wet? I don't understand, but it works for me !

They have begun a total bunker restoration on all the bunkers. The construction is being handled by "Better Billy Bunkers" which has a rather impressive list of courses completed under its resume. (Over 600 to date ) I have been a member at Coto for over 28 years and the one constant issue has been the bunkers. I have been told the cost will be in excess of $1,000,000. Looking at the website is very interesting, so I am interested to view the final result. However in the interim, and bunkers are all GUR at this time.

The new white sand makes a startling contrast to the green fairways. Visually it is rather stunning, but don't know yet how the new sand will play


The rest of the course is in very nice shape, greens running quick/true, fairways are lush and green, and looking good. However the North is closing this week for heavy maintenance including the 5/8th punching and heavy sanding of the greens.

Taking advantage of a "window" of no rain, jumped out to try to get another round before the next wave of storms. The course as expected as empty! The round was soaked, just sloppy wet. Needless to say ... zero roll ! Played super long. No puddles, just wet wet wet. The greens rolled very well and were surprisingly quick.

The bunkers were unplayable- more like mini lakes. Still, golf is great, even under less than ideal conditions.
