What a difference a day makes ! Yesterday, both courses were jammed at 6am. Today, Sunday, only three players there? I don't get it !

North greens have almost totally recovered from the recent punching, but still running slower than normal. ( I would guess maybe at 9 ?) Should be back to 10 - 11 by next week I hope. Otherwise course is in nice shape. Fairways green with plenty of grass, rough inconsistent, bunkers excellent.

Love the weather this time of year, but hate the late sunrise. Guess you can't have everything. Before I know it I'll be worried about frost !

First off again Sunday morning. Even at 5:45am, lots of people waiting to play. (And it's only going to get worse as we continue to lose over 1 minute per day in sunlight)

Now that the greens on the South are recovering, seems like the fungus has spread to the North course. While still very puttable, you can see that unless they get a handle on this soon, I foresee problems. The rest of the course is actually is very nice condition. They are scheduled to punch/sand the greens beginning 8/17/18, so maybe that will help?

It seems that a number of people have left Dove Canyon which is just next door to Coto and have joined here. As a result, the course is much busier in the early mornings. Lots of singles in carts. ... Continue »

It seems that a number of people have left Dove Canyon which is just next door to Coto and have joined here. As a result, the course is much busier in the early mornings. Lots of singles in carts. (Trying to get in before work? or just playing holes? ) Rather annoying.

Course is in nice shape right now, has held up to the recent heat wave very well. Greens rolling true. Fairways green & lush. Bunkers are near perfect. A few issues with the rough, but nothing of consequence.

With sunrise getting later and later, unable to stay ahead of maintenance, so ended up with the mowers on almost every green, which tends to be a bit of a distraction. (At least that's the excuse I'm using for this mornings poor play.

Course is in nice condition right now, greens rolling well, but not as quick as usual? Fairways green and lush, bunkers are perfect, rough, still has some areas which need attention.

Over the past several weeks, there has been a lot of "singles" in carts which seem to come out to play some holes before work I guess, because it seems every time I turn around there seems to be another player zipping around, which adds to the distraction. Funny when you play poorly you can find a million reasons to justify your crappy performance.

Another chance to play Coto’s North course came my way yesterday and it was another spectacular day of golf. We’re told the south is currently healing from its aeration so we may find the north course busier. We teed off at 11:30 just after a late breakfast and good service at the club, finished at 3:40 or so. We only waited a few times from different holes, but it was a pretty day of sunshine in the low 90s with a light breeze that comes and goes throughout the day. The sand in the bunkers were very good and with good consistency for the two i was in around the greenside and the other two from the fairways. The teeing grounds were fine. The geens were grown nicely from a recent aeration, but I thought it was still a little bumpy. The fairways were looking good. I just wished I played better... can’t wait to come and play here again.

After spending a week in Chicago, dealing with stifling humidity & heat and then unending rain, it is so nice to be back in sunny, temperate Southern California ! However came home to the North course having the greens punched with heavy sanding, fairways, rough and tee boxes all having been punched. Brutal ! Zero roll out in the fairways, bumpy greens with a "stripe" of sand on the ball when it finished rolling (Due to early morning wet conditions) The only plus is the course was empty and no maintenance, because "you can't mow sand" I appreciate it is a necessary evil, but it's sure tough to accept when the healing process takes place. This is when I really appreciate having two courses, so it will be South course next week.

Love this time of year, - warm, not busy, less maintenance, less people, etc. Nice to finish the round (walking) before 8 o'clock, particularly this week so I can go home watch how real golfers play. ( U S Open )

Because of the "Windmill Classic" both course are officially closed Friday/Saturday, but I decided to sneak out at 5am and try to get around before they "kicked me off" I made it to #14 before the super "reminded" me the course was closed for the tournament, But since I assured him I would be finished by 7:30, and shotgun wasn't until 9am, he allowed me to finish.. (I won't push my luck tomorrow!)

Lots of maintenance everywhere, but I stayed ahead of them, but they have the course looking very good. Greens rolled super true and quick. Everything cut & trimmed.

I don't play in the tournaments because I prefer to play early and quickly, plus it's difficult to justify paying big $$$ to play a course I'm already paying monthly dues to play !

Lots of maintenance to deal with this morning, but otherwise nobody playing? Greens, fairways, bunkers all in great shape. Still a few issues with the rough. Because there is some left over materials from the South course bunker renovation, they have added another bunker on #4 and increased the size of a few others. I see that t hey still have a great deal of sand left over, so I'm hoping they "refresh" some of the bunkers, which were completed just bout a year ago.

Greens have not been as quick as before, so a little easier to score, but still can't get above the hole or "short side" yourself or there is no chance to get up and do
