Nice to get back out on the South course where the greens are fast, but still playable. (Fair) Fairways looking good despite the absence of water, much drier which provides some needed roll out. They are scheduled to begin a total bunker renovation beginning in February which will mirror the North course. It will be interesting to see how many bunkers they either eliminate of reduce in size. (When they did the North, they reduced the total sand by 40%)

Very pleasant morning with no frost threat. Hard to complain golfing early morning in January in shirtsleeves.

Temperature at a balmy 60 degrees when I tee'd off at 6:10am (still dark) Fairways still dry due to the recent winds, so nice to get that extra roll, however I'm noticing some of the fairways are getting rather thin???. If we ever get some rain, they better keep the carts on the path of some holes. Greens fairly quick still due to the dryness. But they did roll well. Some of the greenside bunkers need some attention too.

Maybe because of the holiday season, not as busy as usual, but there is still that group of "dew sweepers" which force me to tee off in the dark to insure being first out. I suspect once it gets cold again, the numbers will diminish.

Out early as usual, expected the course to be crowded because it was closed yesterday for a ladies event, but to my surprise and delight, nobody arrived until about 5:40, so only had a couple holes in the dark. The plus side of waiting until 5:40 was that it allowed maintenance to keep ahead of me and therefore I had a majority of mowed greens.

Course in nice shape, having fully recovered from the fall aeration. Still could use some additional care in a few of the greenside bunkers, but overall, not too bad. Pleasant morning, nice way to begin Sunday

I have been holding playing the South because I knew how bad the greens would be after punching with 5/8th holes and heavy sanding. I was at the course this morning at 5:45am, and there were already people out on the North. (Crazy because it's pitch black out, and you really can even begin to see until about 6:20am)

Teed off at 6:12am. (still very dark) To my surprise, the greens were not as bad as I anticipated. They must have rolled them because they were reasonably true and fairly quick, all things considered. Certainly not good, but puttable. The rest of the course was fine, except for several greenside bunkers which were rather thin.

Since EVERYONE went North, no problems with pace of play or singles in carts.

The greens on the South are in possibly the best shape they have been in quite a while. They are running very fast. (I'd guess about 12+) and rolling true. Of course , they will begin punching them... Continue »

The greens on the South are in possibly the best shape they have been in quite a while. They are running very fast. (I'd guess about 12+) and rolling true. Of course , they will begin punching them on 10/16/17, so all that ends abruptly. Fairways are also lush and green. The bunkers have issues, but I'm told they will be renovated in the near future. Same with several of the tee boxes.

Tough time of the year because it gets light so late and there always other golfers trying to get out early. So it's rather competitive to secure that first time off. However, the cold weather generally resolves that problem.

Out early again, in an effort to keep in front of maintenance. Arrived a couple minutes after 5am, and there were already groups waiting on the tee. They allowed me to tee off in front of them, but let me tell you that at 5:15 it's really dark !! Didn't actually see my first shot until #5.

Course is in nice shape right now, greens rolling true and fairly quick. Still some issues with the greenside bunkers, but rumor is they are doing a complete bunker renovation within a few months.

The South course has nearly completely recovered from the recent maintenance, but for whatever reason, maybe as a tribute to the British Open (??) they have the greens running at about 9 on the stimp. Generally the greens run about 11 to 11.5, so I have no idea what the thinking is. The North is running normal speed, so no idea why the difference. Otherwise the course has come back nicely.

Rumor is they will renovate all the bunkers later this year, so maybe that's why some of the bunkers were kind of scruffy?

Another early morning round on July 4th. To my surprise, not all at busy. Wanted to play the South today, because it's the last day it will be open before they begin some heavy maintenance on Wednesday. Funny that the courses always seem to be in the best shape just prior to being "destroyed". I understand the need for the maintenance, but tough to see such wonderful conditions transformed into nearly unplayable conditions. But I'll be patient, and within a couple of weeks, everything will return to normal.

Greens rolled very well, fairways green/lush, but still some bunker issues. Word is they will begin a total bunker renovation beginning in September to mimic what was done on the North course. (That took about three months and over 1 millions dollars to complete) Sure glad this is not an equity club !!

Out super early again today. To my surprise the weather started as a mist, then gradually actually turned to a light sprinkle ??? (Hey, this is June, not supposed to rain in June?)

Course was in very nice condition. Greens not as quick as the North, but still reasonably fast. Fairways v good, rough had some areas which need some attention. Bunkers better than usual.

Maybe because of the weather, but it was very empty this morning? Just me and maintenance.
