Played Torrey Pines South Thurs. Feb. 18th with the Men's Club. We tee off at 10:40 and played in less then 4 1/2 hrs. The course is still in great shape from The Open. If you have a chance to play it... Continue »

If you are in the back Bunker with a bad lie and the pin is in the middle front saddle of the green I would give strong consideration to playing away to the long side of the green even if it is away from the flagstick. It might leave a 50+ foot putt or even a chip out of the collar, but that is considerably better than rolling it 40 or 50 yards back down the slope in front of the green. It is very easy to do that. Everything slopes that way except a sideways shot out of the bunker. Especialy with a buried lay, or a down hill lay in the back of the bunker.

If you lay up or are playing in from 150 yards in there is a slight (very subtle)slope to the fairway. Keep that in mind or you are likely to hit it shot a little thick for right handers or thin for the lefties.
