Made a mini-road trip to join Alex326 here Wednesday just before noon. Paired with Bill wearing a spyglass cap and then joining Mike a single both local frequent players to complete the 4-some on the 5th hole.
Perfect weather mostly sunny light breeze low 60's.
Used the large putting green to get the roll down. A quick but fair pace given the undulations a Johnny Miller course is known for I thought. The starter got us off on time 1st tee nearby and adjacent to parking lot. Dog leg left to a downhill landing area the fairway and rough defined nicely.
Ample tee boxes some a touch shabby and most not perfectly level. The course through the green was clean as my shoes had little to no debris on them when finished.
My ball flight offered some fairway roll where as Alex was stuck in soft spots with little roll many times. The areas off the fairways has been cleaned up over the years the locals explained, making the course much more playable and mis-hits could and did bounce back into rough or the cart path curb a few times.
The wild coyote bush areas have been tamed but still many areas to lose balls and some forced carries. Fun course testing all skills. Out of position punishment to stay within yourself and the hole design and escape with bogey. Subtle breaks on large greens.
The greens are 30 +/- yard size on average with three distinct pin possibilities (#3 today) Size and variety that the everyday player has a new look and wouldn't tire of.
The 16th par 4 green is a whopping 75 yards said to be the biggest around.
All were smooth at medium speed. The highlight of the course. Cut tight and rolled yikes could be scary fast.
Recommend because more than once is for sure required to score your best and it was perfect weather and golfing company fun!

Played Monday 1/6 early morning mostly sunny skies both walking the dog at Carmel Beach and the range at The Glass prior to teeing off, was expecting more of the same for the 11:30 tee time. Instead like Scotland the clouds rolled in as I exited the pro shop adjacent to the first tee. Joining Alex and Justin. My expectations of scoring not exactly matching the execution. Still a high rating on the fun factor playing here for me every time.
Mild temperatures and light winds made for ideal walking the links today.
Most fairways like carpet, the bunkers well placed and of high quality. Fairway ones thin and firm, green-side a bit deeper and more fluff.
A second shot golf course to score well. A few holes have forced carries of natural areas off the tees now instead of all grass.
The greens are great with the links style undulations and false fronts.
Some very large and rolling probably a bit slower than the other times (3) I've had the pleasure to putt here.
CPO for the power carts and considering the recent rain course was in great shape for golf.
Always a recommend. Didn't hear the bag pipes left too early.

Played 12/26 in winter conditions carts allowed at 90 degrees but wet and windy alot of leaves. Crews were out blowing and improving best they could a day before big rains and storms forecast for awhile.
We were happy like the other groups out to be playing.
7:18 tee time, 2nd out following a 4-some of walkers we settled in and no one behind us and POP under 4 hours took our time and listened to the music.
Good greens maintained rolling slower muni-speeds consistent. Rest of the course through the green playable considering winter conditions. Couple bunkers puddled in bottom. Leave losses possible in a few areas of some holes.
$43 to walk extra $20 for seat on the power cart. Good value and going into 2025 pro shop didn't know if rates would be steady. Said the players club is a good deal and the lowest fees.
They have a simulator in the restaurant. Have never seen anyone using it. Even on this marginal weather day. I was thinking it could be a back-up plan if the weather didn't co-operate like it did.
Overall classic venue, good value service and fun.
Makes it a recommend.

This was my target course when the nice weather window of the last couple weeks was forecast. Not ideal as Baylands last Friday but cool with a lingering fog resistant to fully burn off.
Cool vibe atmosphere here. A locals course with many custom carts. Laid back membership friendly and inviting.
I was held up by traffic and rerouted. Was late for our tee time. We made a move and skipped the first hole bypassing a 4-some who happily waved us through. As did another group on the 11th. Played the 1st as our 18th to finish.
The course: solid CC conditions in transition to winter. Fairways offered tight lies and short rough allowed a chance at recovery. Bunkers were compact in the bottoms well maintained.
Greens nice rolling smooth med pace with tiers and undulations on many of them.
Tee boxes (white tees for us) all excellent flat and ample. Enough so that when I commented on them. Alex thought they could reverse rout play and cut them tighter and putt on them. Not normally a highlight of my reviews but they stood out to me.
It'd be a challenge in the wind and I sought out this venue cuz Alex said he like courses with water. Most holes have it. Like Florida with no gators.
We had a side bet on the water losses and I was on the bad side of that 5-1. OB into the housing or the aqua the places that add penalties to the card.

Recommend. A nice place to play in the Delta region. Look to the forums for the "rest of the story"....

With the great stretch of weather I was itching to play some golf this past week. Made the call to Alex and we were able to play Baylands just after noon Thursday. We were a two-some following group of three with the full rack rate groups out ahead so POP was a bit slow. Palo Alto airport is right next door so was entertained with a busy runway of small plane activity.
Links style course transitioning into winter play. Some brown areas both in the fairways and rough (not deep or defined) but all very playable. Very few trees and none in the areas of intended play. Had to pay attention to the group in front and use the app for some routings.
The greens and the areas around them are the highlight of the course imo. Large undulating greens, quick on the downhillers, subtle breaks and undulating surfaces with many hole locations. Overall Baylands fits my eye and my interest with second/third shot options.
Easy Friday commute into the Oakland area. Driving home was a bit of a slow drag over and hour extra drive time back to Sac. (580 Altamont pass)
A course I had in my sights as it hosted NCGA SR event I couldn't play in earlier.
The weather and the challenge of a new track with Alex = worth the drive. A scouting trip so I will know before I go play sr series event here in 2025. Recommend
