Played yesterday afternoon. Teed off shortly after 1 and we were moving along pretty good until about hole 8 when we hit a everyone else. There was a tournament in the morning which seemed to slow things down. On the plus side we still finished in 4 hours. The greens are very firm, I didn't even make a ball mark all day nor did I really see any on the greens anyways. I thought the greens were very slow. Not sure if this is a summer thing in AZ but the greens are kind of funky looking. I don't know how to describe it but they aren't consistent as I'm used to. Fairways were good, they were very nice to hit off of. Rough is ok too. The bunkers on the other hand are the worst. I was in 4 and all four I could only manage to skull them out. On hole 2 the fairway bunkers were being worked on. Looks like they were installing new pipes. There was no sand in the bunkers I was in and the sand was weird too, almost like cat litter. Plenty of water out on the course and the cart girl came around 3 or 4 times. Nice size range and putting green and the staff in the clubhouse and starter were very nice. I think I paid between $40 and $50. Not bad but the sand certainly left a few sour grapes in my mouth.

Both courses are always in excellent shape and the staff could not be accommodating and friendly (especially the director of golf Jeff Sorkness). While both courses are great, I prefer the South because of the trees and water. Both courses allow you to see some great local wildlife (wild horses, coyotes, rabbits, etc.). Would recommend this course to anyone.

Played 7-21-11 Best way to describe this course is wide open. Fairways are huge but, traps will come into play on some holes. That said the sand was good to hit out of and around the bunkers they were real good as well. Greens were a bit slow but ran true. We were scheduled to tee off at 11:30 but got there early and they said go ahead if we were ready. Hit a few from the practice area and range (real nice all around) and away we went. zipped right through and finished in under 4 hours. This course is great for all types of players and the service is great. Nothing real special about the course but, then again nothing to NOT keep one from coming back.

The last round of 2010....played on a cool/cold day. Got a great green fee thru EZlinks-$65 including tax for a 1028 tee time. The course is still in fabulous shape. The greens are very good for this time of year, and the weather they've had here. Fairways also excellent. They are plenty wide so you should be able to hit most of them. Placement off the tee is important as there are strategic bunkers in fairways and greenside, so have a look at where you want to hit it to-they provide course maps which will help, but for the most part you can see everything. The greens run true, but there can be some tricky pin placements. There is really nothing to criticize about this course. The customer service here (and at most Troon courses) is very good, they are friendly and helpful. The one downside today was that we only saw the cart girl twice, once on the 3rd tee, and once on the 16th green, she had run out of coffee and hot chocolate....busy day for that. Played Talking Stick South for the first time on July 4. Generous fairways and receptive greens is way to play. This course is exactly what the doctor ordered for low scoring as compared to tricky SoCal conditions I am used to. Greens putted true and the grain was easy to pick up and read. Sand traps were in great shape. For $45, this is a greens fee not to be missed. The heat was not bad at 102 as we had occasional breezes.

Played Nov 15. Had been meaning to play this course for some time. The rates are reasonable now, as they are everywhere. Well worth $80. Has lots of trees that are just getting a decent size. A typical resort course thats mainly flat, but in great condition. Very good practice facility. They have used mounds and a lot of deep traps to give it character. Still, not a great course, but fun and challenging. Will definitely go back. People were nice and helpful.

I played this course on October 19th 2007 just after it reopened from overseeding. Course is in good condition, fairways were a bit long and greens were hard. I suspect they will soften up and fairways cut shorter in time. Course is very forgiving for a desert course, more of a resort course feel so if you want a challenge go to other desert courses. Would play again though, fun round.

This was a good course. Played for the Arizona resident rate which made it a great deal. The staff was frendly and the course was in great shape. The yardage books were informative but not as nice as a GPS. I didn't find it necessary to shoot for the landing areas indicated in the yardage book. The course was fairly wide open and not a lot of trouble if you land it anywhere in the fairway.
