Did we really pay 33 bucks for this course? Is that big rock/island formation real from about 4 to 5 holes? Is that blue bay hypnotizing enough to forget that you still work for a living as opposed to play golf? Is Morro Bay golf the hidden gem? Yes yes and yes! I cannot wait to come up and play this course again. Yes, you probably need to bring out the big stick to hit the par 3s. And yes, you're probably going ot be 3 carts deep on the par 3s. But you'll have a view that'll be ingrained in your mind for months if not years.

The greens are in great shape for a muni. Even though you're putting uphill, if you're putting towards the ocean, brace yourself. Even the Sallies in our group kept putting off the green. Whoever rated the blues at 118 is smoking crack. Course is short on card but trust me, if you're not breaking 90s regularly, you should stick to the whites.

Again, must play in central coast if you're a view type of person. The track is challenging and affordable.

Just came back from our Central Coast Trip. We went Friday, July 30th and played Monarch Dunes, Cypress Ridge (Friday), Hunter Ranch, Morro Bay (SAT) and La Purisima (Sun)


This was course #4. We played on SAT (at) 1:30 pm after Hunter Ranch in the morning. They are running a summer special that includes green fee, cart, and beverage (including beer) for $33. We had lunch (at) Bayside Cafe nearby (3 mins away). I would recommend that restuarant before the round. This was a busy muni. The greens were slower, but in great cosmetic condition. The fairways and rough were in decent shape. The highlight here is the views. I personally think the views are nicer than Los Verdes in Los Angeles without the nasty wait. We finished in 5 holes. This course was super long par 3's and lots of long par 5's and very short par 4's. The wind comes into play on a lot of the hole. Back nine runs through a large camp ground. Watch your clubs...people are like 10 to 15 fee away. Great deal and a must play!

Played on 6/19/10 afternoon. Had a special for $33 after 1pm. Basically a muni type course but with good view of the Morro Bay, especially on the front nine. Condition of the greens and fairways are just average though. Course opens up a lot more on the back nine and is more enjoyable. Overall a good choice in cental coast for its scenary.

Played last Friday. The views were fantastic, not up there with Pebble, but certainly the equal of Sandpiper and Torrey. However the greens were some of the slowest I've ever played, to the point that they made the round almost unenjoyable. The fairways were nice. Definitely not a high end course, but then they don't charge a lot to play there. Saw the marshal roaming the course several times during the round. Finished in four hours.

Torrential rain came through the night before but I played anyway and was PLEASANTLY surprised. Course drained extremely. Relatively short track but 10 mph average wind gusting to 30+ mph turns the difficulty up. Greens are like roller coasters... just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Played 1/31/09. The course is a real beauty. It looks out over Morro Bay and the ocean. There's lots of hills and almost every hole has some kind of major elevation change. Which means you get some great view of the water and some great elevated tee shots. It also means you should be ready to walk uphill quite a bit or else make sure to rent a cart. The course from tee to green is well taken care of, there are a few spots on the fairway that could use some extra water though. I played from the gold tees, which seem to be the least used and on a few holes had trouble finding solid dirt under the grass to place my tee in. The course is also very forgiving, with no water hazards, few bunkers, and very little OB even with my erratic tee shot I didn't lose a single ball. Watch out for the greens though, they're alot tougher then they look and most have a hidden break towards the ocean. Of course some of them don't and you'll plan for the break and be fooled so pay close attention to them.

Great course to play on vacation! The whole course slopes towards the ocean and got a bit tiring towards the end. It's by the "wetlands" a beautiful place by the ocean, BUT bring a large can of OFF with you! Mosquitoes were deadly and ate us up! At the turn we went in to the pro shop and they had cans of bug spray to use for free!

We played on 3/13/08, and lucked out with a clear & calm morning. The course was in great shape from tee to green. Greens are tricky to read, and we have finally learned that everything breaks towards the Bay. The views from the course were beautiful and we were able to complete the round in under 4 hours and before the fog rolled in. It's a very forgiving and fair course to play.
