Great course to play on vacation! The whole course slopes towards the ocean and got a bit tiring towards the end. It's by the "wetlands" a beautiful place by the ocean, BUT bring a large can of OFF with you! Mosquitoes were deadly and ate us up! At the turn we went in to the pro shop and they had cans of bug spray to use for free!

We played on 3/13/08, and lucked out with a clear & calm morning. The course was in great shape from tee to green. Greens are tricky to read, and we have finally learned that everything breaks towards the Bay. The views from the course were beautiful and we were able to complete the round in under 4 hours and before the fog rolled in. It's a very forgiving and fair course to play.

This is a fun course. It has great views of the Morro Bay Harbor. They call it poor man's pebble beach. Course is on side of a mountain, so lots of elevation changes. Greens are real slow and break to the ocean. Great track for a county maintained golf course. Fun.

The BEST Muni course I have ever played. The greens have unbelievable breaks that will just fool you if you didn't get the local knowledge. The views are amazing! The call it a poor man's Pebble Beach, which I think its a little more like Spyglass. If you are near the San Luis Obispo area, make the stop and play this course. There are a lot of grumpy old guys around (locals), but have fun!

I take a vacation in the area every summer and FINALLY brought the sacred sticks. It was overcast and foggy so no killer views of the bay and the rock, bit still had a GREAT time. Very fun course, and in very decent shape considering how many rounds get played here. Will make this a regular course on the central coast rota. I even spied a very cool jacket in the Pro shop, its summer and I didnt need it. After getting home I decided that I did want it and would purchase it on the way out of town. I brought the jacket up to the register to purchase it and it had no pricetag. The starter thought he pulled the correct info up on the register and quoted me the price. Upon further review, he realized he made a mistake and quoted me a new much higher price. Without asking, he gave me a hefty discount for the mixup, THANKS. Just because of THAT I will be back, yet alone because of the great track...

Played there on 7/26 with my wife as a twosome on our anniversary. Beautiful course and in great shape considering how many rounds of golf are played there. The views are worth the greens fees. Challenging and yet fair layout, greens were in excellent condition and smooth, putts rolled true and toward the ocean. Definitely a must play if you are in the area! Was the first time my wife played a full 18 hole course and she loved it and wants to go back! the weather was sunny and around 67 degrees, nice!

This was a fun place to play. I walked on one early Monday morning and they were accomodating. Ruth the starter was an absolute sweetheart. I made the mistake of walking because this course is located on the side of a mountain and there are a lot of elevation changes. The views are spectacular and it truly was a wonderful get away. The course plays very fair but the greens are really tricky because everything breaks down the hill and its fast. After I got use to them, I starte scoring well. Be careful of the mosquitos as they are everywhere! I was eaten alive. There is a camp ground next to the course and I kept thinking to myself who would camp there and subject themselves to this torture.

Played on 5/27, and the course was as fun as I remembered it from 2 year ago. A great bargain with great views.

This is a good course for the money. Offers good discounts for campers staying at Morro Bay state park. The course sits above on a hill that over looks Morro Bay.... GREAT VIEWS.

Played over Memorial weekend in the am. Definitely a course where some local knowledge would help out. The greens are tricky and two of the holes #9 and #13 were verrrrry long par 4's. As we played in the morning, there was some sogginess to some of the fairways. POP was just over 4 hours.

That's it for any criticism. This is one of the most enjoyable public courses I have played. If you are up in the area do not pass this course by.

This course is pretty much the course I learned to play from. Its well maintained. Out of the 3 County Courses this one his one has the best upkeep of them all.

I have a vacation home in Morro Bay and I consistently go to Morro Bay Golf Course. It is a great bargain, as it is in pretty good shape and has some amazing views. The sidehill lies can be challenging, and each hole has its own character. This is one of the best values around.

"Poor man's Pebble Beach" is right on as far as descriptions go. Amazing views make this a worthy destination. Very few level lies in the fairways, very tricky greens to read, nasty rough around the greens - all combine to make this a very underrated course. Great deal, too!

Played 5/27 - 5/29. Played a total of 4 rounds and enjoyed every single round. This is the other poor man's pebble beach. The original is Monterey Public Links in Pacific Grove. The front nine is played mostly on the hill and the back nine is mostly flat. Greens were tricky on the first round but once you remember that everything breaks to the bay and estuary, you'll score low. If you ever get a chance to go to the central coast, make sure you stop by and play at Morro Bay.

For a county course it is very nice. The greens are slow and a little fuzzy, but the views, pace of play and low greens fees more than make up for it. No water (other than the views of the ocean) and very little sand, make this less challenging, but a joy nonetheless.

I play this course every other month when visiting my daughter in San Luis Obispo. No matter what time of year, the course is in great shape. It's run by SLO county...the green fees are easy on the budget, especially for seniors. And the entire course is senior friendly. It's a must for out-of-towners (although many locals play here regularly.
