Topic: Transition - July - SilverRock

I just read two negative posts and I hope SilverRock chimes in here to better explain the transition process of rye grass to bermuda. Anyway, SilverRock always goes through a transition period where the rye grass dies as the bermunda grass comes in due to the hot temperatures in Palm Springs. NOT al...

Used to be a very long par 4 that was lengthend into a shorter par 5 in the redesign. This is a strategic par 5 where keeping it on the short grass is preferrable to length. Tight slot between the fairway trap on the right and the waste bunker on the left that runs the entire length of the hole is your tee shot. Any 2nd shot that gets you within short iron distance for your approach shot and finds the tight fairway is a good one in my mind. Being on the right creates the best angle but brings the lower waste area into play. The green is large but not that difficult to putt as it is flatter than most on this course.

Reachable par 5. Must get tee shot on the short grass over the canal. While preferrable over a shot in the water, the waste bunker right is not a great place to be either. If you are in the fairway and are a longer hitter, you can have a go at the green over the traps and trees. Make sure you aim far enough right to avoid the waste bunker and greenside traps on the left, the terrain will funnel a ball well right of the green onto the green. The green is severe. Putts from the back or the front are severely downhill to the low spot in the middle of the bowl.
