Green Horn Creek is a nice layout with short iron work and long doglegs to challenge your clubs. The biggest drawback is the course encased in the homesites. You will definitely have to be on the greens as most of the owners will verbally inform you that the ball is on their property, even if you can see it. Not a problem if you play straight and true. Nice clubhouse, small Pro shop, and usually can only hit clubs off of mats at driving range. Try it.

WOW... there's a reason this course is rated one of the best courses to play in northern ca. its a RTJ design and it shows. I found all the holes interesting and the club house and staff are just as good. the driving range is great to start your round off with, and club house has awsome food. I played here in the heat, really hot, like 104* and the course showed no signs of drying out. the green here are FIRM... like one poster said, "The term "ball mark" is replaced by "minor dent" on these greens...sometimes it's hard to find where you came down." this is the only thing I had to come to terms with. and did I mention they were FAST, there fast, really fast. the layout through the houses is scenic and OK as I got the feeling sometimes I was in there backyard teeing off...lol but for the most part you will find it a great track. the locals who live up there are super friendly and love there course, and it shows as they always replace divots and marks. if your up in the gold country and want a fine course to challenge your game, this is it...
the carts have GPS on them and for 1st timers you'll find that its a great help to see where to go, as some holes laying up is a must. I can't wait to go back and play there again in better temps....

Except the crazy wind conditions (30-35mph) it was wonderful. I really enjoyed the layout and the challange. Can't wait to go back!

Greenhorn Creek is one of the best bang-for-the-buck courses in N. Cal., in my humble opinion and easily worth the drive for me from Sacramento to Angels Camp. The staff are always in full press mode to ensure you are treated as a guest, and not just a wallet that wandered into the pro shop. The course is in super shape, but if you aren't used to close-cropped greens that usually refuse to stop your ball no matter how much spin you put on it, you're in for a revelation. The term "ball mark" is replaced by "minor dent" on these greens...sometimes it's hard to find where you came down. Plenty of challange in this course...it isn't a "cookie-cutter", but on the other hand, it isn't one that will chew you up and spit you out and make you want to throw your sticks into the first pond you see...it's a fair test and I can't think of a club that I didn't use today. They've revamped some of the tee boxes and #13 is a landscape work of the first order...nice job crew! Hard to find a better view on a course that isn't parked next to the ocean. If you haven't played it, you should. GolfNow.com offers some pretty decent deals for this time of year during the week.

Played 5/26. The course is excellent condition. The greens are in top shape. I last played the course before the RTJ redesign. I noticed that he opened up the driving areas on a few holes - a nice improvement I think. He also worked on the drainage apparently. No soggy fairways!

Played a 10:00 shotgun as they do in the winter. Got off by 10:20 and finished just under 5 hours. Didn't seem that long, however. The course, as usual is in excellent shape. The only downside is that they're redoing a few of the tee boxes, which takes away the effect of some of the holes. Two of the par three's were well under 100 yards to the pin because of the construction, and 18, an already easy par 5 to reach in two, was even easier. Other than that, had a wonderful time.

Played the "Thursday for $30" special (shotgun start) at Greenhorn Creek today and while the course was recovering from a couple of days of intense rain, it was, for the most part, very playable. The only problem areas were the traps...the sand was severely compacted as you might expect and in some traps, it had completely washed away from the upper edges. However, the staff was out trying to redo them where possible...not an easy task. Fairways were soggy in some spots, requiring a cart-path only day, but it was a playable course. The staff at Greenhorn are exceptional, one of the best operations I have ever seen. One of the better GPS-equipped cart systems also. If you're in the area, it's a "must play".

Very nice course. Good condition. I would rate it second best in the area, next to Saddlecreek. The GPS system was great and really helps the first time player.

Just a great course.
Holes 4 - 6 alone are worth a trip to Gold Country. Stay the night and play Saddle Creek too.

The course is in absolute immaculate shape. The greens are firm enough to make putting interesting, but soft enough to hold a good shot. It's challenging for all levels of play. A must for any golf enthusiat. The only down-side that is that it's an hour or so from most of civilization - maybe a huge reason why it's in such great shape.

Greenhorn Creek is in excellent condition...fairways are pretty lush, the greens, while putting to their usual slickness standards, were in great shape, the bunkers have good sand (so I saw) and of course, the staff there is friendly and courteous. Shotgun start today so pace of play was a little slower than it might have been, but it was still a good round. A "must play" if you're in the area and have the time. We were on a coupon that was 2 for $50...a steal of a deal.

A tight, hilly, foothiil course. In good shape. Recently underwent significant upgrade. Tough greens, tight fairways, great clubhouse with a great resturant!
