I played here on 02/10/12 from the back tees at 71.5/129/6290 (par 70). This was my first time playing the course and it was not what I had expected after reading the reviews and looking at the course website, I was disappointed. It is a short course, but I did not think it was very scorable as I had a really difficult time getting a grasp on where to hit my shots . Actually, it was one of the most miserable courses that I have played the first time out. The course was hilly with blind and semi blind shots starting on the first few holes and was just as confusing on the finishing holes. I got off early in the morning and got to play by myself when no one else was out which allowed me to drive up to a spot to survey what I had to do with a shot if necessary, but it would best to play with a local if you can your first time here. The course was scenic with the ocean nearby and you could hear the waves crashing on some of the holes, but as far as a golf experience I thought the course was full of tricks. There was OB on almost all the holes and the course was lined with homes, so much so that they annoyed me, plus the course featured something I hate, back to back par 3’s. The 2nd hole had a blind approach and so did the 4th. The 5th had a blind tee shot and then if you wanted to go for the green in 2 shots on this short par 5 you had to play it over an OB area to the green. It continued on the back too with the 16th requiring a layup over a marsh and then the approach on the 18th dropped a couple clubs and was blind from 200 yards out in the fairway after a good drive. In short, the setting was nice on the coast, but I thought the golf course was overrated and the scenery was spoiled by trying to figure out where to hit it. The condition was good and the greens could be wicked tough. Thankfully, when I played the greens were rolling true, but not at a speedy pace. It also should be noted that there is no range, not a big deal to me, but it might matter to some folks. The value was decent through golfnow.com at $42 on a weekend morning.

Just played here on Monday 10/24. I have been wanting to play this course for almost 20 years. Got there about 1:30pm, the weather was perfect, about 60+ degrees with just enough wind (5-8 mph) to make it interesting. The one person in the pro-shop was helpful and friendly as was the outside service person. There is a small modified tennis court that one could use to warm up by hitting into a net. I teed of about 2:15 as a single as there was no one else in sight or showing up to play with. My wife rode along ($15). The carts are the old style gas carts o.k. but very noisy. I had forgotten to get a score card, there where none at the starters podium so I used the course guide to score on. The out 9 are all surrounded by houses that are very close to the fairways, so much so that you have to guard against it. This 9 also is uphill for most of the way. I would not classify this as a links course as it is missing a number of "Links" type features. The one feature it doeas have is that no matter where the ball comes rest it will net present a level lie for the next shot. I played the Blue Tees as I was totally unfamiliar with the course this the correct decision as there are a number of blind shots from the tee as well as on approaches. The greens appear to be a mix of poa and bent so they tend to get bouncy in the later part of the day. They rolled at about 10 and for the most part where pretty easy to figure out, seaside course, Ocean, most of the breaks (80%) went to the beach. The bunkers are some of the best placed and the sand was close to perfect. I was in three and found sufficient base and good quality sand to get close every time. Overall I was dissapointed due to the houses but its an interesting track to play at least once.

My wife and I loved our day at Bodega Harbour. We played on a Tues this past August, so the crowd was thin. The views were beautiful, and the golf challenging. We can't wait to go back!

Unbelievable views. Fairways were in great shape, greens were okay with bare spots but not bad. Course was difficult, especially the front 9. Definitely worth it to play. Loved the layout.

Played 8/27/10. Took advantage of the NCGA discount i.e. free golf on my birthday. Otherwise I don't think I'd spend $70 to play here. They think they're a resort course, but conditions are really at muni level, although I have to admit that conditions were better this year than when I played here a year ago.

Staff is brusk, and acts like they're doing you a favor by letting you play there. Started with the cashier who led of with a "what do you want?" attitude and then gave me crap about only playing there on my birthday when it was free. We teed off and as we were getting in the cart some guy (apparently the starter) came running from somewhere unseen and yelled at us for teeing off, and complaining that he was going to pair us up. He warned us it would be slow as a twosome but with no pairing in sight he let us go. There is no drink cart, but there's a snack shack at the turn, if you happen to catch the guy there on your way through.

The Poa Annua greens here have been recently replaced with bent, and they are still pretty firm. Unfortunately the Poa Annua is already invading the bent so there are a few bumpy spots. The speed is highly variable.

They advertise themselves as a links style course, which I guess is true if you consider deep fairway bunkers, and lots of humps and bumps in the fairway to ensure you never have a level lie. Being on the coast the wind requires a links style knockdown and a run-up shot on several holes. Unfortunately the run-up area short of the greens doesn't lend itself to rolling the ball onto the green. They've attempted to mow it close but its really bumpy and unpredictable.

Pace of play is always a problem here because of the layout. There are two consecutive par threes on the front, and having to walk the 16th and 17th doesn't help. Views of the ocean and bay are nice, and make the 5 hour slog more bearable.

Played Sat., 2/13/10 - 10:30 time. Course is super-saturated with water right now. Front nine had standing water on hillside slopes. Greens were good. Wait for this one to dry out

Mid day tee time, following a few 2 balls and an easy pace of 4 hours. Good F&B available, nice staff with lots of drinks cart passes. The course is a good challenge and thankfully, a sunny day , at Bodega; the wind was still up at 15 mph and with a cool 60 degrees be prepared for 'winter' golf. After replacing the greens to bent, they are superb, fast, smooth, and firm. Sand bunkers are also excellent. Tees, fairways, and rough are naturally left in a state that supports the course design; seaside links, slightly dry and firm. Rough is varios lengths from 1inch to the tall grasses. Layout is fun and with the wind makes club selection critical. Pick you day with the weather and worth a look with a deal. EZ links Name your price today: $32 w/cart.

This was my second time playing here and it is one of the funnest and most challenging courses to play. I enjoyed it so much that after my round, I replayed the back 9 again. Pace of play was great. As a twosome, I was able to play 27 holes in under 6 hours and it was cart path only that day. I played from the tips (6275 yds) and while it may seem short, it played more like 6500+. The fairways looked great and the greens were fast.

The only drawback is probably the proximity of the residential homes. There were several times where a bad drive had me praying I don't hit a window. If you or your guest is notorious for a bad slice or hook, stay away.
