Played this again 7/18 for the first time in two years because they recently replaced the poa annua greens with bent grass. The front nine greens only began play a few days ago so they were shaggy and firm, and the seams between rolls of sod were still visible and often caused putts to veer off line. I eventually got used to the pace though, but once I started the back nine (new in Feb.), I found really good. fast, firm and true greens for two holes before a grounds keeper came out and started watering down the greens in front of me, so next it was firm wet/slow greens. This course is on the coast so the wind comes up in the afternoon, but its a moist wind and the temp doesn't go over 62F, so it isn't like they're going to dry out. The traps were great, full of coarse consistant sand that was playable even when wet. Otherwise the fairways and all is well maintained. The deep rough is impossible, so don't go there. I look forward to playing this course again when the greens mature a little. The fees aren't too bad and probably worth the great ocean views on nearly every hole.

For 2 days in a row it rained. Most courses I can play ok in the rain...not here. This very hilly course is a challenge. But, wind and rain turn it into a not fun course. The greens needed some sun. They were getting slow and bumpy. The new sand in some of the bunkers is too thick. This is even true with the fairway bunkers. I am disappointed I could not enjoy this course. I know I would have if the weather was better. Oh, the uphill holes require more club than you think.

This course must have been designed by someone on drugs. Really an unusual layout. I suppose you could say interesting, especially if you were a mountain goat. OK, I wasn't having a good day and this isn't the course for you when you're at your worst. Many hilly holes and uneven lies. More windows in play than I have ever seen. The combination of uneven lies, wind and windows put me ill at ease for the round. The course was in good shape and the seaside atmosphere was pretty cool. Fog was an issue from time to time. I would play again but we all preferred Stonetree and Eagle Vines on our 5 day golf trip.

Journeyed over to the coast last Friday to play Bodega Harbour and what a test it was...the wind was up and howling the whole round...been a while since I've had balls blown off the tee or move on the green while trying to putt. The course itself was in very decent shape with only a few gripes. Some bunkers, mostly on the back side, were devoid of sand and many of them had small rocks and pebbles in them...not good for a club's finish. Greens were a bit shaggy in appearance, but the roll you got was true. Fairways and tee boxes were in very good condition and I feel fortunate I finished with the same ball I started with. Excellent customer-oriented staff. A good course...if you can play it when the wind is not going to blow your shots back at you. Now, if they can just fix the traps and bunkers...

Course is located on the coast, about an hour north of San Francisco. Just a beautiful setting, with almost every hole overlooking the ocean and the beautiful shoreline. The sound of barking sea lions from an offshore island accompanies you all round.
This a course that will stay with you long after your round. Each hole is unique, with some outstanding bunkering along the fairways and by the greens. The wind was blowing about 15 mph most of the time, which my playing partners (all locals) said was unusually calm. Trying to find a narrow fairway surrounded by foot-deep rough made for some challenging shots. But it was not unfair. The course did have some difficult holes, particularly the par 3s, but a good shot was rewarded.
Overall, one of my most enjoyable rounds in a long time.

Gorgeous setting - that is if it is not fogged in as it often is. Bodega was originally a nine hole course, you'll notice distinct differences between the the front and back nines. The front nine is newer and the opening holes are pretty darn tough. In the fog, wind and cold, they can be brutal. Interesting finishing holes too. Worth playing but, in my opinion, Bodega feels like a hybrid of three courses and just doesn't seem to flow all that well.

Played Bodega Harbour today and the course has, pardon the pun, it's ups and downs. It's pretty soggy on most of the fairways there now so don't count on getting much roll, mostly due to the rain they had earlier this week and a really wet fog last night, and they are just now getting out to cut the rough. #8 & #14 are pretty wild off the tee...looks like they're trying to plug and/or slice and re-seed most of the fairways but these two took it the hardest. It's cartpath only all the way around and understandably so. The greens haven't been cut in a while and are bumpy...mostly slow due to sanding also . However it's pretty hard to beat the views you get from almost every hole. A couple of tricked out holes left me a little cold...#5 (a double dogleg with a wicked area on the green) has almost no viable landing area unless you hit it shorter (about 200-230 yards) or can muscle it over 300 yards on a different line into the predominant wind, but this is a par 5, 503 yards long from the blues. #16 is a piece of work too...you need to hit it a minimum of 180 yards over a protected coastal area and then leave your cart and walk that hole and play #17 (a par 3) before you walk back to your cart. But after you tee off, they've left some pull carts to lug your sticks over the walkway with. Many of the bunkers had standing water in them and the sand in the parts that weren't drowned were mostly pretty much the same consistency as mud...especially if the bunker had any slope from end to end. Spend $3 and get the yardage book if it's your first time there...it's worth it. Actually, you should buy it the day before you play and study it that night, because parts of it seem confusing. Very friendly and helpful staff...another tip: if your cart seems balky, take it back and get another one...you don't want one that's going to give out on you on this track. Am sure it's more fun to play in spring, summer, or early fall than presently. Check their website for specials.

Played 8/18/06, course in very good shape. You can see the ocean or bay on almost every hole! Drove up from SF (about 1 hour) and worth the drive. Staff was great and so was the the food and drink at the 19th. Used my personal GPS (Skycaddie) and shot 77, a very good score for me especialy for the first time here. I well be back.
