Good maintenance continues. No alerts witnessed as all was in good shape. Fairways running well, good rough, new sand, and greens holding well, only a few bumps.
Worth a look.

Tee boxes being cored; uneven and rough. Greens aerated about a month ago and still bumpy and slow. Will take awhile yet to come back. Fairways in good shape and the few bunkers that were experienced had new sand. Rough lush enough. Good drinks cart frequency and marshalling. OK for play if you can get a good deal.

An overly priced golf course. The greens were in ok shape to some being in bad shape. The holes look alike out here with many dog -leg lefts. It can't get very hard if off the fairway and into the tree lined, soft ground, rough areas. Be very careful when crossing all streets here. Especially the street before you start and after you finish.

I got a great green fee and glad that I played the course. It is a perfect course for those that hit in the 80's and 90's. The multiple dog legs and water hazards give the course enough character to keep it interesting.
The course in most places is in decent shape but there are more than a few areas that look like burned earth.

The good news is the layout is quite interesting. I mean that in a good way. It's definitely worth a play for that reason. The problems are, 1) Pace of play - we teed off at 8:30AM on Labor Day. Given the relative early tee time it is not often we have a 5 hour round but we had one here. Never once did we see a marshall despite some rather large gaps between some groups. 2) Conditioning - Greens were in poor shape due to some fungus. Fairways, tee boxes, etc., in below average shape 3) Service - We never saw anyone on the front 9 nor did we see water or a snack shop. At the turn since we were hungry, thirsty and waiting on every hole anyway, we went across the street and back to the clubhouse to grab some food & drink. We saw the cart girl twice on the back but it was too late. Everyone was nice but either people didn't show for work on the holiday or they are skimping too much on staff.

LIKE I HAD MENTIONED FROM THE REVIEW OF THE SOUTH COURSE, THE HAVE A LOCALS PLAYER MEMBETRSHIP PROGRAM, I GOT ON FOR $39 ON A SUNDAY MORNING, REG. RATE $61.
THE LAYOUT AND DESIGN IS SO MUCH DIFFERENT THEN THE SOUTH. THE NORTH HAS MORE COURSE ANGULATION AND VAIETY OF SHOT SELECTIONS AND MAKES YOU USE YOUR WHOLE BAG OF CLUBS, EX. YOU WILL NOT TEE OFF WITH A DRIVER ON ALL PAR 4 AND 5, YOU WILL PROBABLY GO TO A 3W OR MAYBE A 5W. I REALLY LIKE HOW THIS NORTH SIDE REALLY MAKES YOU THINK ABOUT YOUR SHOT TO THE NEXT SHOT. LAYING UP ON SERVAL HOLES BECAUSE A CREEK WILL COME INTO PLAY.
THE FAIRWAYS AND ROUGH ARE WELL MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT TH COURSE. THE SAND TRAPS HAD GOOD QUALITY OF SAND AND GAVE YOU A GOOD OPPORTUNITYY TO GET A GOOD SHOT OFF.
THE GREENS SEEMED TO HAVE HAD SOME FUNGI PROBABLEM, BECAUSE SOME OF THE GREENS HAD SOME MAJOR BARE SPOTS OR LEAST GOT BUMPY FROM THE DAMAGE.
OVERALL COURSE IS FUN TO PLAY AS SOON AS THEY ARE ABLE TO CURE THE FUNGI, ON THE GREENS THSI COURSE WILL BE RATING MUCH HIGHER.

Interesting layout and could be quite challenging from the tips, especially in the afternoon wind. Greens were pretty shabby in spots - looked like some kind of fungus, ugly, bumpy brown spots. Fairways were a litte shaggy too. Worth it on a weekday, twilight or with some kind of discount but if I paid the full weekend rate, I'd be disappointed. I like Rooster Run better.

I played Foxtail 4/1/2007 for the 1st time. I thought the course overall was decent. I would rate the course conditions to be fair. The fairways were nice, but have some dry/bare areas and could possibly be cut down a bit more on some holes. The greens ran well considering they were arrated a few weeks ago. The course itself is tricky. I had to hit my irons off the tee on quite a few holes. We walked the course and I highly advise you not to walk it (This is not a walker friendly course). Also, it took us (2 people) around 5 1/2 hours to play, so it can be very slow. Living in San Francisco, I can play Harding Park (with a residence pass) for around the same price and Harding Park is a much better course. If you live in the area of Foxtail, I would recommend playing this course, but if you live over an hour away, there are better courses to play. Overall, I would rate this course a 6 on a scale of 10.

1st time playing this course. The staff was friendly and courteous. Interesting course with water and doglegs. The course itself was in very good condition. The greens for the most part are true and fast. It was a fun course and I would for sure go back to play the north course again.

This first time I had played this course and I was pleasantly satisfied. I played on the 4th of July weekend and the course was nearly empty. Great risk and reward course and set up well for my game. If ever in Roehnert Park, do yourself a favor and tee it up!

The North course is a flat course that doesnt present a flat lie every time. All par 5's are reachable for the long hitters, but only gives you an oppurtunity for eagle. Make sure you play within yourself, choose the correct tee box or you will be in for a long day.

Nice course and in great condition. Some greens are a touch slower than others but all in all they are great. Well worth the cost and travel to play it.

In comparison to some of the GC's in Southern California, Foxtail GC North is in very good condition. The course was not forgiving to 1st time players but if you hook up with a local they can help steer you away from trouble. If you're in the area, take time to play it.
