Great course. Greens for the most part pretty fast (though some seemed to have a lot of foot prints or something - bumpy jumpy putts on a few holes confounded our best efforts to get good pace on our putts - most frustrating aspect of the course). Tee boxes were fine/level. Fairways were nice, pretty well seeded. Overall, no one to blame but yourself for a less than satisfactory score. Sand was adequate, not damp/impacted and amenable to proper sand play. If you can play sand, you won't be disappointed with Hiddenbrooke's sand.

We played blues and had a great time. If your drive is on, woods are going pretty straight, and your short game is adequate, you'll really enjoy this course (though probably any course would be fun if all that's going well for you). $50 during the week, e-mail special that includes cart, added to our enjoyment of the round - pretty fair price for a course of this quality.

Played this morning/afternoon in 4 hours and barely saw anyone on the course. Typical Palmer course; hit it straight off the tee or you have an uneven lie. Greens were a little sandy but still workable. Had a great time. Staff is friendly and course is challenging. Will go and play again in near future.

Solid layout and fun. Greens are progressing nicely; end of May should be magic.

Played this course on 2/15/08. The course was in great condition, fairways & greens were excellent. This was a very enjoyable though challenging course due to the narrow fairways and hazards. The course has nice views all around and I would definitely go back to play here again.

One year since my last post. This remains one of the top 3 public courses in the entire bay area,in my view. BUT.... the problems remain, and make the golf experience unpleasant for a singleton. a twosome would face the same . There are always extremely slow,extremely unskilled players,4-somes,3-somes, hacking their way at snails pace along the course..... completely oblivious that they are playing at a 5 and 1/2 hour pace. As a singleton playing behind them, the golf day is ruined. But it does no good to try and play through...the group ahead of them is just as bad and just as slow.
Unless you pay the high rates to tee off at 9 or 10 am....or pay the (still higher than average) twilight rates to squeeze in 9 holes before sunset..... you will suffer a long day behind bunched up slow 4 somes on this course. and with never a marshal in sight..... there is nothing to do but stand and wait 10 minutes on every shot. that is not golf . it is torture. and it spoils Hiddenbrooke. as it does with many other courses in the crowded bay area.
It almost doesnt matter now where you try to play.

Overall I say this course was pretty good. Some interesting looks especially on the par 3's. It was VERY soggy which I thought was unusual. Later on , I found out why it was so soggy. A mtnce worker turned a bank of sprinklers on just ahead of us, on the tee. I had to block the sprinkler so my partner could hit the tee shot. You might say this is necessary to keep the course from dry damage, but it wasn't. I noticed some of the sprinkler heads he turned on were set too low and they were watering an already swampy area around the head.

I prefer a course with trees but, the naturally hilly terrain keeps the course interesting. The greens rolled pretty well.

About the 3rd hole I noticed the tire of our cart was very low. We alerted the drink woman who then radioed into the shop and told us another cart would be brought out. It never was. We switched carts at the turn. Lucky for us, the tire held up.

This is a very nice facility, great hot dogs and a pretty good course though its not my favorite style.

Another word about maintenance which I'll preface and say, there is a lot of acreage to maintain out here. On the ninth hole, I pulled an iron shot left but, not too far left, of the green. I was looking for the ball near the water hazard running along the left and back of the green. A very large limb of a tree had broken off and was resting in play, near the bank of the hazard near where my ball traveled. The limb had been broken awhile because the mower traced a line around the limb and the grass was grown up inside this area, in play. Just a sign of not caring I felt.

Anyway, it was a fun day, nice course with some rough edges.

Played 6/9. The course is in great shape! However, a number of the greens are oddly bumpy. Possibly due to poor drainage or over-watering.
