Starting with the good: facilities are new and nice, staff pleasant and professional. Range is nice but to short and you find on one of the fairways a lot of range balls. Overall the grass is lush and green. Fairways are in great condition. Now the bad: greens have to be the worst ever. Bumpy, weedy, marks and dead spots. What the hell?? awful... totally ruined play. The other complaint is the rough is way to long you will lose balls RIGHT in front of you. Im talking right off the fairway or on the side of the greens. Bring a lot of balls! I would try them again in another year when they get their greens up "to par"... hopefully.

They aerated the greens on 11/11 so it will take a couple of weeks for them to heal. I really enjoy playing this course. The twilight rates are very reasonable. The people at the pro shop are all very nice and helpful. In addition, im general the people you meet on the course are very nice. Pace of play is quick. I love to walk and usually can get around in 4 hours or less. The course is deceptive for two reasons. First there are strategically placed fairway bunkers. In addition the greenside bunkers guard every hole. For the most part you cannot see the bottom of the flag. As a result there is a visual distraction on every hole. When the greens are finally cut and rolled depending on the hole placement there are many greens where the break is counter intuitive. For someone of my handicap (13) it's a challenge. I have played with better players and, if they are out of place, they struggle.

Played last Tuesday for the first time in over a year. Walked for $37.00. They built a new pro shop and adjacent restaurant. Looks nice, pro shop is tiny, didn't eat at restaurant. They are building new clubhouse where the old one was. Grass range hasn't changed. No starter, refreshment cart, pace was 4.25 hours. Conditions were good overall with some bare spots, daisies between tee box and greens but overall good. Greens are semi-fast and fairly true. Water comes in play often with many irrigation ditches that are not noticeable to the infrequent patron's eyes. Course layout is interesting and course knowledge will help quite a bit. But fun course with many thinking holes. Will play more often when good rates allow. Many Canadian geese but not crazy crowded, a few squirrels and an occasional deer for you wildlife lovers. Bunkers were fine but a bit wet that day.

Played on Sunday 6/9/13. Avoid this course at all costs at this time as greens are in serious disrepair! There are huge areas on each green that appear to have been re-sodded. As a result, the puttable portions fuzzy and slow because they cannot be rolled. Some areas on the puttable portions are diseased leaving bare patches and bouncy rolls. Worst greens in bay area right now and that's an understatement!

Course has experience major green problems (algae) starting March/April 2013. As of June 6, a quarter to a half of many greens has been resodded. Greens are currently running ~6-7 on the stimpmeter with many uneven and patchy spots. New sodding hasn't taken well yet. Unless you don't care about greens, avoid for now.

First let me say this golf course is absolutely beautiful. We reserve the 712 tee time and showed up at 6:30 because we had a wedding to go to and needed to be done by 11 AM. Despite accomplishing this goal and having a round of 18 in-under four hours we were asked by the Marshall to speed up play. I suspect the group behind us did not like waiting a few minutes at the turn and called their buddy who was the Marshall. Without investigating the merits of their request the Marshall told us to speed up play then proceeded to accompany us on the remaining eight holes to ensure our play was fast. Of note, our threesome had caught up to a single golfer two holes later however the Marshall accompanied for the duration of our round and watched with binoculars as we hit every shot.

For other reasons that I won't go in to, I got the impression that this is a "locals" course and although open to the public they certainly are not welcoming to outsiders. Their "good ole boy" network made sure that my family that traveled across the country from Hong Kong to spend a relaxing morning together proved anything but relaxing.

If you're traveling from outside this area I would think twice before playing Peacock Gap golf club. This is a shame because the course is an absolutely fantastic shape and this could've been a wonderful reunion with new family. I sincerely hope that this day was an aberration and I would certainly hope that typically this course is receptive to those traveling from outside the country, however based on this experience and how sad I felt after a round of golf I have to give this beautiful course a very poor rating.

Course is beautiful! Just played it for the first time, surprisingly, since I live in San Rafael! Extremely well kept course, fairways, tee boxes, traps, all in great shape. Beautiful setting with a lake coming into play on some holes, also some little creeks running along fairways. Played at 8am for only 37 + 12 for a cart! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ANY THAT VISIT THE AREA! Also offers the ONLY grass driving range in the county.
