Played last week for the first time since they rebuilt the front side. Nice touches added to change the visual look for some of the holes. Greens were slower than normal, but course is in great shape. Glad 3putt wants to stay away, more times for the rest of us. Part of the links style courses play is estimating yardages visually from reference markers on the side of the fairways. FYI there are no yardage markers in the fairways on the Old Course.....

Played 1/13 in the afternoon. Pace was OK, same thing happended as the previous post, course backed up at the two par three's on the front side, then opended up on 10. Green's really firming up, and you need to hit a club shorter to allow for roll. The only way to score on this course is to know where the pins are and stay below them, ptherwise a 3 put is guaranteed.

They are overseeding the course so it is cart path only. Fairways are wet to let the seed come in. They give you a lunch for your troubles. T's are all bunched together to let seeds come in on other T boxes. Greens are the best I have seen them - immaculate. Got around in 4 1/2 hours not bad for cart path golf on this hilly course.

Few more weeks should be back to normal.

I agree with Jackmac. Rustic is one of my favorite courses around and I play it usually at "off hours" during the week and have NO PROBLEM getting around the course in 3.5 hours.

I have NEVER seen a marshall on the course moving golfers along. I have even called the club house from my cell phone and they simply look at the computer and say so and so is on hole number X, and don't send a body out to check it out.

Rustic is tough from the tips and a simple question at check in such as "gentlemen what handicaps are playing today? then we suggest that you play the (B/Bl/Wh/Rd/gld) T's today. "for eveyones enjoyment we EXPECT you to play within 4 hours. If you set your objectives high you can reach them if you think 5 hour rounds of golf is OK then that is what you will get.

A couple of Marshalls with some effort from the management will allow this course to play within 4 hours. Try it you will be surprised at the result!

It is a great course and with a little effort it can play under 4 hours!

Played week-end of Sept 25th. They have routed the holes back to it's original lay out. New club house is done, with a nice bar next to it when you finish to grab a cold one. Beautiful setting.

They did start us on 10 first, which is OK since I like the front side better and it allowed us play them once we warmed up. The greens are still healing, but that said many of them are in very bad shape. It is a great classic course, but not anywhere near the quality you would expect for the "rack rate" of $170. Area residents can get the twilight rate however so it's worth the $70 to come up and play a beauty of a course bad greens and all.

Woo who! Logged on to get the course phone number and found out I won $100 gift card. Thanks JohnnyGK. Great site just keeps getting better.

Played Thursday afternoon. Can't say enough about the course, greens are the highlight or a great, difficult course. If you are a high handiacapper bring LOTS of balls. Long narrow and when the wind comes up, look out. Dont't try to be a Manly Man and play from the backs try the reds first here!

Only complaint was that we got behind two slow groups and after waiting for 7 holes of waiting on each T, we jumped them. I had called the club house and they sent someone out, but what are you going to do about a paying member? Playing from the Blacks when he should be hitting from the Reds!!!!!!!!

THERE IS NO REASON A ROUND OF GOLF CAN NOT BE PLAYED IN 3 1/2 to 4 HOURS.

Drives me nuts.....

So back to the card..........should I buy one of these new high-bred clubs or just a bunch of Calaway golds? (great wind ball by the way)

Let me know what you think I should do......

Played twighlight on 8/16. Course is in excellent shape, greens smooth, fast and slightly soft. Fairways perfect, T-Boxes in great shape. Started us on 10 (which is they way they should do all of the time anyway) Got around in 3 1/2 hours. Beautiful weather, what more can you ask for. Play it you will enjoy!

Played mid Monday morning. Course moved along better than I expected about 4 3/4 hrs. As noted by others conditions are improving, however it is still a little rough around the edges. Boxes need the most attention, greens were very slow and bumpy for a Monday morning. Wonder what they are like in the afternoon....... Course is starting to see the effect of hot Simi afternoons with some brown areas. They need to work on some of the sprinkler patters as much of the course is wet, where oathers are brown. All of the lake repairs are complete which really helps the look of the course.

All in all it is a nice muni class track, I like to course lay out and it works out a lot of parts of your game.

Played here 6 months ago. Nice track good value. Not too long and difficult, but had very fast greens and lots of traps. I belive it is an Arnold Palmer design.

I play here usually going or coming from Vegas when I have to due to work reasons. Both courses are great with totally different feels. Both are equally enjoyable. The Lakes course is not like many in the Vegas area so it tends to get more attention, but I like the desert course just as much. Since I usually am travelling alone a great tip is to just drive up and ask to get on. Last year the walk up rate was $55, which is a great deal. Always got on no problem, have done this 6-7 times. Play one coming and the other going or vise versa!

Played Monday August 1st early morning two some. Got around in 3:15. Course is in good shape, bunkers excellent, fairways and rough good to very good condition. Greens good with some ball marks, but healing. Greens have color changes where previous marks have healed, but don't effect putting. Med fast and fairly soft, usually less than 1/2 club roll. Excellent service especially around the club house. Marshall's kept coming by and checking on pace of play. Great course and value.
