SURVEYOR REPORT Surveyor Report: 8/4/2004
Took advantage of the Tierra Rejada Golf Club loyalty card to play a free round today. It is a great program where if you play the course at full rate four times, your fifth round is free Monday - Thursday. What a deal considering the full weekday rate is $70.

Having played Tierra Rejada many times since it opened, I always admire the great playing conditions they maintain. I can't remember the last time I was disappointed with them. Today the greens were fantastic. Fast, Mostly Soft, and Smooth. The fairways, rough, and tee boxes were mostly lush although there were some thin spots and areas being tended to. The bunkers were well kept and the sand although firm at times was generally good.

If you've never played Tierra Rejada, the layout is very interesting. For the first 11 holes the course works its way up and down hills with many scenic vistas and forced carries. Then from hole 12 and on the course flattens out considerably and offers a whole new feel. What is constant throughout the course is the use of greenside swells. These swells produce lots of fun short game opportunities and often provide forgiving bounces when approach shots go a stray. Another constant is the heavy bunkering greenside and in the fairways. Watch out because most of them have steep faces and can blow up a round quick!

Overall, I like this course and feel it is worth the green fee. I'm impressed with the lush conditions in spite of the hot July we had. Customer Service was tops as usual.
