Played here with GKer Sixpez after our morning round at Mission Lakes. Paid $22.50 ea with GroupGolfer voucher and at that rate it was an absolute steal! We got checked in early and the guy in the pro shop said we could head right out. I wish I would have caught his name to give him some props because he seemed genuinely excited hearing that it was our first time here and he explained everything we needed to know about the course and its routing. When grabbing the cart to go out they have a water station with cups, water and ice. I was pretty frustrated to see that they didn't really have water out on the course very much. There were a couple bathrooms with just drinking fountains and vending machines. Cart girl came around a couple times in the beginning but must have made her last trip around before going home when we were on the 8th hole. Layout is fun but a bit weird, they must have redone some of the holes because some look new with nice water features and others look and feel very old just being completely straight and no trouble to get into. Tee's were fairly good but a couple different types of grasses and some being shaggy, Fairways were great to hit off of as well as the rough not being very penile. Sand looked really crusty and thin but I was in one and it was playable but could have used more sand. If you are playing in the summer heat do your best to stay out of the sand because it felt 20° hotter in the bunker. Greens were firm but in great shape rolling smooth and very minimal ball marks. Ran into a couple groups that let us play through and we ended up getting around in about 2 and a half hours. A little tip, try not to go too far left on the 9th hole tee shot. There is a little practice green up on the hill and lots of balls on the practice green so it will be tough to find your ball if you do wind up there and if have never played here and you are looking on google maps to try to figure out layout and routing then good luck.

Played with GKer Sixpez on 6/1/13, 7:30 shotgun start and for $35 it was a sweet deal. I remember a buddy telling me about this course a long time ago and how fun it was so I'm glad I finally got to check it out. Fairways and rough were very lush, I spent the majority of my time in the rough and though cut short it was still pretty tough to get out of. I was in two bunkers and both had great soft sand. Tee boxes were good except a couple were pretty hard to get a tee in the ground including one or two of the par 3's. Greens still shows signs of recent aeration but rolled smooth for the most part, I think only a couple greens were a slight bit behind in the healing process and a little bumpy. Layout was fun, most holes were pretty flat but slight doglegs and very well placed trees (I got to see many of them close up) water comes into play on only a couple holes and 10-12 were very fun going up into the hills, the layout on 11 is brutal and to a very tough green, I would like to play 11 a few different ways to figure out how to play it because I sure didn't play it the right way. Best thing of all was the semi-private club pace. We did wait a few times but considering a shotgun start with a Mens Club Tourney we still got around in 4hrs and 5mins. If your looking for a cheap fun round for the summer and don't want to drive all the way into La Quinta or Indio then you should definitely check this place out.

Played the 5/18/13 GK Event. Course was in great shape and everything I was hoping for my first time playing. Luckily Sixpez in my group had played there before and his course knowledge went a long way. Yardage books by the course was a nice touch considering no GPS. Tee boxes were shaggy but mostly level, Fairways great, Rough was lush in most areas but a little rough around the edges where your not supposed to be anyways, Sand was great, I was in plenty of them and Greens were in pretty good shape rolling nice and quick and smooth on the front and slowed way down with maintenance hitting the sprinklers in front of us on every hole on the back. The back nine greens hopped around a little as well. I rarely had a level lie all day with the hills and mounds, I definitely know what I really need to work on now though. I really want to get back out there soon now that I know the course a little because I would definitely play a few holes differently. Thanks to Johnny for making check in and tee off a breeze and another great GK Event.

I agree with funkyfurlong. Played yesterday Thursday 5/16/13, called Tuesday and made a 3:45pm tee time for 4. Got to the course and somehow our group was not in the system. Got down to the tee box where there were a couple groups waiting to tee off. Tee'd off after about 10 minutes of waiting and luckily the groups in front were playing at a good pace and we didn't have to wait again for the rest of the round. Holes 1 & 2 were punched and sanded, greens on the rest of the front were quick but a little bumpy and a lot of unfixed ball marks. Back nine greens were a little smoother but slower and still a lot of ball marks. The course did have a few sponsor signs up on a few holes so I think they had a tourney earlier in the day. Fairways were great and lush but a little on the soft side, rough was short but the ball would sit down, also rough was really soft and damp on the first hole. I was about 2 yards off the fairway and almost plugged it, ball was covered in mud but had no real issues after that. Sand was plentiful but had not been raked by anyone that had been in it prior. I have never seen that many traffic marks in sand since I started playing and of course I ended up in one bunker in an almost unplayable lie because of all the traffic. Waste areas were nice and firm. Tee boxes were flat but a little on the thin side and completely brown around the edges. Afternoon breeze felt good and adds some challenge to a few holes, paid $25 with course email special (I think it is only a $4 discount at that time of day) and is well worth it.

Got to play 5/4/13 with Gker's Dodontails and Sixpez. Pulled up to a really big and nice resort facility about 3 miles or so off the ocean. No ocean views but the breeze felt great out on the range and first couple holes and then turned into a pretty steady wind. When I got there I pulled into the self parking and called the pro shop to see how to get to the pro shop and was informed that valet was complimentary for those playing golf (very nice because it would have been a long walk). Staff was all pretty nice but it didn't seem too genuine to me. They pointed out a couple times that we were behind members and members behind us so to keep up the pace but it seems like they need to educate there members on proper pace of play. The South course had just closed so I expected it to be a little slow but considering they had good spacing in between tee times it should have moved along a little quicker. Our round came in just about at 5 hours. The course itself was playing fairly firm and fast with good roll out when you hit the fairways. Rough wasn't long but when the ball was sitting down it was tough to get the club on it good but most of the time the ball would sit up. Rough had a few areas of GUR with either Sod or a couple bare areas that weren't roped or marked off. Fairways were inconsistent with some being lush and tight others being thin and some shaggy and a couple bare areas throughout the course. Tee boxes also varied from tight to shaggy and maybe a little un level but easy to find a spot every time. Bunkers were big, well placed and lots of them. Definitely made the course more intimidating off the tee and in the fairways. I found a few and all were nice plenty of sand but still some little pebbles. Greens were nice but rock solid, not even wedges were holding. They did putt smooth and even though there is a lot of undulation in a few greens they didn't break too much and not too fast but the wind was affecting them. Layout wasn't too challenging or exciting though there were a couple really nice holes but local knowledge definitely helps and even though the bunkers are well placed and visually intimidating there is usually plenty of room to work around them. We got an amazing deal but I can't believe the rack rates here. I would never go back for the regular rates but if you could get on for maybe $70 or less it is worth it.

Played yesterday 5/2/13. Made it around the course in just over 3-1/2 hours as a foursome. The 25 mph wind with 40mph gusts must have scared everyone off but I had a great time practicing different shots. Down wind was playing about 2 clubs short and dead into the wind was playing anywhere from 2-4 clubs up. Greens were really hard and watched wedges and short irons take big hops and release from the center to back or off the back of the greens. Aeration markings are still visible but fully healed and all putts were smooth when there wasn't debris from the wind blowing the trees and bushes. Also the wind was greatly affecting the putting speed so it is difficult to comment on the speed. Downhill putts into the wind was extremely slow but downhill putts downwind was extremely fast. All sand looked great though I wasn't in any but there were a few pebbles on the greens around the bunkers so I'm sure there are some tiny rocks in the bunkers. Rough was mostly lush but still a little patchy but only in a few areas. Bermuda Fairways were immaculate, not cut too tight so chipping around the green was still easy. Tee boxes as always are some of the best I've ever been on. Perfectly flat, lush and minimal divot damage on par 3's. My only real gripe with this course is there customer service. I swear they hire some of the nicest people in the world but also a couple of the biggest pricks that could care less about the customers. Thankfully checking in with the pro shop is a quick process but everyone in the bar and restaurant are good so don't let my comment shy you away from getting a drink or meal. I didn't eat there this time but they do have an excellent lunch menu and the Sunday brunch is one of the best I have ever been too.

Played 4/20/13 with GKer's sixpez & sr129. We flew around in about 2 hours waiting on only a couple shots. The twosome in front of us drove into the wash and got their cart stuck so we were able to play through them and luckily we did because it would have been a longer round if we had to wait on them every hole. Conditions were similar to the boulder course with the exception of some rough was burnt along the outer edges but maintenance was out working on bunkers and laying down some water. A few good mix of distances and one short par 4 but about half of the holes were right around 100 yards. Really straight forward but worth giving a shot especially if you don't have enough time for a full round.

Played the Boulder course 4/20/13 with GKer's sixpez & sr129. We got out nice and early and on time. Course was really quiet all day and other than waiting on a few shots the round really flowed well and finished as a foursome in 4 hours. Even though the recent reviews being good I still didn't really expect too much from the course and was pleasantly surprised. The course was much greener than I expected and really lush all throughout. Tee's were a little uneven on most holes but not too bad and always easy to find a flat area. First hole I found a green side bunker that had a decent amount of sand only on the bottom where they had worked on it but the rest of it was rock solid, also found a bunker on 18 that was maybe a 1/4 inch of loose sand with hardpan underneath. Fairways and rough were amazing and ball sat up most of the time in the rough. A lot of fairway bunkers and small mounds come into play often and mounds around the greens could either give you a great kick or kick you down well below the green or into the waste area. Greens rolled pretty smooth all day and sped up as the round went on. No real undulations in the greens except maybe hole 16 was noticeably tougher. Layout was good, not too exciting but the fairways were really narrow on some holes to add to the difficulty so luckily the rough was nice to hit off of. We had an underpar voucher so it was only $20 with a replay and for that price it was an absolute steal and I would definitely return.

Always a pleasure to make it out to Goose and I wanted to be sure to get out before they aerated starting this weekend. Check in went smooth about 10 mins before our tee time and he sent us right out. Started out playing the whites as a twosome through the first 4 holes and joined up with a couple older guys playing the blues on the 5th when pace slowed down a little. Course isn't very long from the blue tee's so we played back with them, I thought it would be a lot tougher with the afternoon wind from back there but we still played well. Tee's are nice and flat, fairways nice and lush, rough was perfect aside from a couple bare area's. Ball sat up in the rough most of the time so it wasn't punishing at all. I was only in one fairway bunker that had plenty and maybe too much sand for being a fairway bunker but sand was great and soft and green side bunkers looked to be in great shape. Rough around the bunkers and trees definitely make everything pop and looks awesome. Around the greens were perfectly manicured collars and the greens themselves were in good shape rolling quick but a lot of players not fixing ball marks and they did slow down a little towards the end of the round. Plenty of false fronts around the greens also make for a more challenging round but luckily my irons into the greens were on all day but a couple of my playing partners really struggled on a couple holes. Pace was good at just a touch over 4 hours even waiting in between almost every shot from the 5th hole on but the wait was always very short. 18th hole ate me up again so it looks like I will have to get back out once the greens are all healed to redeem myself.

Finally got out for my first round of the year yesterday. Showed up to Shandin Hills as a single at 3pm and got right out with another twoesome for $19 plus a FREE BEER! I don't know when they started this but it was a pleasant surprise. Tee boxes were all over seeded and really green but still a little shaggy and ranging from fairly uneven to really tough to even find a comfortable place to stand. Fairways looked great from the tee box but once I got out there they were mowed really tight and all different kinds of grass making for some really patchy areas and bad lies. Same story with the rough, really short and patchy. Other than a few little pebbles in the bunkers the sand was really nice and easy to play out of. Greens also looked great but medium to slow speed and on the back started to notice a lot of traffic marks on them. Pace was awesome until the 7th hole where one foursome teeing off with a twosome behind them and then us. That continued for the remainder of the front 9 and we started flying around the back until 13 where we slowed way down again. I played through 15 then left, I figure I got my monies worth for $19 and a beer. Will go back but probably not on a Friday afternoon.

Played yesterday with a couple GKer's and had a blast. Had about an hour frost delay but gave a little extra time to check out there great practice facility. Course was in great shape and has some really beautiful holes. Only thing I could really mention possibly bad about the course would be the tee boxes. They were still better than most courses but most were a little uneven and a little thin and just didn't stand out like the rest of the course. Fairways were green and cut pretty tight, rough was green, lush and was very short (about 1-2 inchs) and the ball always sat up very nicely. Bunkers were abundant and very well kept with many different shapes and sizes, there were a couple that weren't raked but that was from a group in front, even the waste areas were well kept and designed. Greens were big and sloped a lot with medium to fast speeds and rolled smooth. Not much bite but held higher shots well. Layout is pretty open and only a couple real risk reward holes but the course is still pretty tough. Water comes into play on a few holes and a couple blind tee shots. GPS system is fantastic and holes 6 and 18 definitely go down as some of the nicest holes I have ever played. Hopefully I can score a little bit better next time.

Played this morning with GK'er sixpez. Had about a 30 minute frost delay with the temp being about 33° when we tee'd off. Course is a little rough and dormant but still played fairly well. Tee boxes were pretty uneven but was able to find a decent place to stand on all of them. Some were a little thin, some shaggy and par 3's were pretty chewed up. Fairways were thin for the most part but did have some lush area's but weeds growing all through them. Rough was very patchy being thick or thin or non existent. Bunkers were actually pretty good. A good amount of sand in all the ones I visited and weren't too wet even after yesterdays rain. Some did have some pretty big rocks in them though. Greens were soft rolling medium speed and higher shots held well. Greens had quite a few ball marks, a few had bare spots and made for some bumpy putts but nothing too bad. Overall I liked the layout even though some holes are pretty tight. I will be back sometime in the spring or summer to see if conditions improve then. For $33 on a Saturday morning it was well worth it.
