Walked on as a single this morning and was first out on my own at 7:10. Clubhouse is older but pretty big and decent. Saw a couple guys hitting off grass on the range but the cart attendant was soon to come out and put down mats and asked them to hit off the mats. Range looked pretty raggedy and is placed in between the 11th and 18th hole. Practice green was nice, smooth and fast and about the same speed on greens out on the course.

Onto the course, I think my expectations were a little too high. I had heard from a guy at work that the course is usually good year round but that was not the case. Fairways and rough were really thin and patchy all throughout the course and made for some pretty bad lies. Tee boxes and the rough around them were pretty good though and some what uneven but easy to find a flat enough area. Rough right around the greens was great on most holes and patchy on a few and greens were good rolling fast and smooth even after the rain, collars were nice and well defined. Sand was really wet but seemed to have a decent amount of sand in the couple I was in but wish they would have had a little more. Pretty much the condition of tee boxes and greens were good with everything in between decent to terrible.

Layout of the course is decent. Some course knowledge on a couple would be good, 12 and 18 both doglegs come to mind in not really knowing where to put your drive. Overall I paid $45 and in this condition it shouldn't cost more than $20-$25. I might try the course out once more when conditions improve but I'm definitely in no hurry to come back.

Played 11/6/12 and course is looking great. Greens were pretty smooth and fast but had some ball marks and bare areas around the edges. Practice green was just as fast but that didn't seem to help me out too much in the beginning. Fairways were awesome other than the fact there was no sand/mix on the carts to fill divots. Rough was good all throughout but a little patchy in areas that can make for a bad lie. Tee boxes flat but a little thin and chewed up. Sand was great and pace of play was just under 3:45 for a foursome.

Played 10/18/12 with SBogey and Wdement. After some of the later reviews I was expecting course conditions to be a little better. This was my first time playing this course after wanting to for a long time and really liked it but course knowledge would have been a huge plus. Carts have no gps and there were no regular yardage books in the pro shop, just the professional caddy booklets which are very detailed but I don't have $20 to spend on a booklet. Would be good if you played this course all the time though.

Tee boxes varied from lush to very thin, a couple tee boxes had sod and some had a ton of divot damage. I was also surprised that the tee boxes weren't very level. Fairways were cut very tight and the front 9 fairways seemed thinner than the back. Rough was pretty brutal at times. Lush and deep in some areas and then spotty all throughout the course leaving some really tough shots from the rough. I was in a 1 fairway bunker that was not too soft and easy to get out of and was in 2 greenside bunkers. 1 was soft and fluffy and 1 was hardpan under just a dusting of sand which was a shame because it was the 18th greenside bunker and not a great way to end your round. Greens on the front 9 were firm and smooth with medium speed. Back 9 greens were softer, bumpier and you could see all the traffic that had been on them during the day. Plenty of water out on the course but no cart girl at least while we were out there. Layout is pretty good but difficult and need to really think about your shots.

Pro shop, starter and bartender were all very friendly. Practice facility is pretty nice and range balls were included. Also if you have never played here before the putting green is up on the hill above the range towards the 1st tee and the speed pretty much matched some of the first holes but was definitely faster than most of the greens on the course. Would love to come back here and play again now that I know the layout but I have a feeling for me it would take a few rounds to really know how to play it and put up a decent score.

Played yesterday 9/27/12 in a shotgun tourney. Course is in good shape but starting to aerate. Only a couple greens were fully punched and sanded and a couple others were only punched around the edges. Course also slit the greens possibly a week or two back and were still visible but didn't really affect any putts. Greens were soft and medium speed and a little bumpy due to the soft conditions and some people not fixing ball marks but still rolled smooth on most holes. Fairways were very lush, Bermuda rough was thick, lush and tough to hit out of when the ball sits down at the bottom. Wasn't in any bunkers but sand looked plentiful and well groomed. Tee boxes are great but par 3's were a little chewed up. Not the toughest course but has some great holes that make this course very enjoyable time after time.

Played here this morning for the first time, walked on as a single and only waited about 15 mins to get paired up and tee off. I really enjoyed the course and the layout. It was still a little wet out there this morning but not too bad. Tee boxes were all good with only minor uneven portions on some tees, par 3 tee boxes were a little thin and beaten with divots. Fairways were in good shape, however there were quite a few burnt and thin areas and some soggy areas around the greens. Rough was medium length and somewhat penile since the ball tends to set down in Bermuda. I was only in one fairway bunker but just with my feet since my ball was up in the grass above the lip but it felt like there was a good amount of sand in there but was a little damp. I saw at least one or two bunkers on the back though with at least 2 inches of standing water in them. Greens were very soft and able to shoot straight at the pin. Lots of greens have multiple tiers or bowls and make for some very fun shot making at the shorter distances but some frustrating putts if you miss your mark. I fixed at least 2 ball marks per green from the people in front of us and the softness made for a couple bumpy putts from foot traffic. Lots of water comes into play and I was kind of surprised that the course is lined with streets, apartments and houses. I didn't do much research but thought it would be a little more secluded. I do feel that this course would be insanely overpriced at rack rates but they do have a special right now, whatever the outside temperature is, is the dollar amount you pay. So get there as early as possible. Since today was my Birthday though I got to play for FREE, got free range balls and a free lunch and I will say that this is the best birthday special out there and all the employees wish me a happy birthday and were very kind.

Played yesterday at 12:30 pm. Got out right away and didn't catch the group ahead until the 7th hole. They moved along pretty well for a foursome and let us play through on the 10th tee and it was wide open the entire way after that. Finished in just over 3-1/2 hrs.

Course was in decent shape but lots of bare areas and GUR and rough had many thin areas. But where it was lush on fairways and rough was fantastic. Rough is cut very short and the course was pretty hard and fast and played true to its LINKS name. I was in two bunkers. One was a little wet but plenty of sand and the other was firm and thin. Tee boxes on the front were a little bit thinner than the back but all were good and level and cut out in very nice squares. Greens were very firm and released everything including wedges so it took a little getting used to having to hit the front of the green on a back pin. Greens were rolling medium, I would have thought they would be running faster by how much the ball rolled on the approach shots. Front 9 was completely calm until the 9th hole and from then on we had a steady 15-20mph wind. I'm still not too sure how much I like this course. It is fun and frustrating mainly because of there gps not having hole pictures and even with the yardage book navigating the course is still difficult. Maybe I just have to play there more often and with their rates right now it is still a good deal.

Played here for the first time yesterday 8/2/12 at 6:55am. Pace was perfect. Twosome went out ahead of us and we gave them sometime before teeing off and we never had to wait on them and no one behind us so we took our time and enjoyed the course.

Condition wise the last review hits it pretty spot on. Fairways were still thin from being thatched and quite a few burnt areas. Greens had been slit aerated and they were very visible but still rolled fairly decent with some good speed. I was warned about the greens by another GKer for the tiers and he was right. Some were insane but still a very fun challenge. Rough was very lush with only some thin areas and not very penile at all except I did find one patch that the mower missed and it was a pretty difficult lie. Tee boxes were good, par 3 tees had divot damaged but nothing excessive. I only found 1 bunker and it was very wet but there was plenty of sand. Would have been great if it were dry.

Layout I really enjoyed. Course knowledge would have been good on a few holes and I didn't see a course booklet but apparently I just looked right past them. Water comes into play often and gps would have been very helpful. A few holes on the back were kind plain but still fun and some of the elevation changes made for some great views and shots. Pin placement was pretty tough on all holes but overall I really liked the course. I just hope the conditions start to improve soon.

Played 5-15-12 at 1pm following a tournament. Tournament seemed extremely unorganized with people yelling and scrambling before heading off to their tee's. I have not had this anywhere else and maybe it was because of the tournament but the pro shop would not let us check in more than 20 mins early. First 2 holes went by fast and smooth and as we came to the 3rd tee a group had barely tee'd off and a twosome in front of us that still had to wait to tee it up also. From then on it was very slow going for a couple holes and then picked up speed for a couple holes after the marshal told them to pick up the pace. Making the turn to 10 things grid locked and we waited 20+ mins to tee it up. It seemed like a 6+ hour round but turned out to be a touch over 5-1/2. Course is in very good condition tee to green except for no one repairing their ball marks but the guys in the pro shop behind the counter need to go. A few have been there for a long time but they couldn't possibly be any less interested in their customers and they are always a slight bit rude. However the upper management Rick and Ben are great guys and I will still recommend this course to others but be sure there are no tourney's going on that day and no fivesomes.

Played again 5-7-12 early morning. Fog was kind of dense when I showed up but almost completely burned off by the time we teed off. Played with GKer's WDement and Kevbig (great guys) and had a blast. Course is in great shape and new carts are great. Greens were firmer and faster then when I played a few weeks ago. Hard to get even wedges to check on a greens. As always, I can't wait to go back!

Played after work 5/1/12. Course is in better shape than I can ever remember but is still pretty bad. Tee boxes looked pretty good but almost all are uneven, rough is always a mixture of good, decent and terrible but the good was actually really good then there where the usual thin and completely bare areas. Most bare spots are near the trees and a few yards off the side of the greens. Fairways were okay but a little patchy and some bare areas. Sand has a ton of rocks and were firm. Greens were soft, receptive and painfully slow but looked great. Pace was good which is unusual (I've had 3+ hour for 9 holes before). Lots of freeway noise and they raised there twilight in the past 2 years from $15-$20 to ride. Still $10 to walk after 3. Decent deal but with Sierra Lakes a few miles down the road you can play for $29 after 3 with if you are on there email list and definitely get your moneys worth.

Played 9 holes yesterday after work. Course is in good shape. Tee boxes are good. Greens are rolling pretty good and quick but you can still see that they were aerated not that long ago. Greens are firm so aim a little short of the hole. Most bunkers look to have a sand upgrade! Even the fairway bunkers which I found 2 of and they were perfect. Fairways were good as well as the rough but the Bermuda is coming back and it looks patchy but is very lush everywhere. Sign up for their email list and you can save a few bucks.

Played this afternoon, showed up early to warm up on one of the best maintained ranges in southern california and huge putting green. Guy in the pro shop was nice and paired me up with a twosome. The course is in amazing shape, every tee box is level, fairways are like carpet and you won't see any bare spots in the rough even between holes. Rough was cut at about 3 inches, sand was soft and plentiful even in fairway bunkers which there are many of. Greens were punched 2 or 3 weeks ago and are almost fully healed but are very playable and receptive, should be perfect in another week or 2. This course isn't very difficult but afternoon wind definitely makes it harder. I've also noticed you can kind of see the progression of difficulty as you play through the course. As each hole goes by bunkers start to get bigger and and more well placed, greens get a little more difficult, then a couple trees in the middle of the fairways and the longest holes on the course play into the wind. Then comes the 18th hole. It is as difficult as it is intimidating, dogleg right with water all the way up the right side so even if you have a great drive and hit fairway you still have to face water on your second shot. The only plus to hitting your approach shot is the wind is coming back at you and slightly west to east so you get a little help keeping your ball away from the water and a little visual plus on your approach shot look towards the club house and Goose Creek is trimmed out of some bushes. After the round cart attendants cleaned our clubs and asked about the round. Goose Creek is always a great experience and I hope to play here more often. If you haven't been there do what you can to get out there. You will not be disappointed.
