I did not rate Desert Dunes very high for two reasons, #1 is/was my dumbness to start at 12:30 PM in the desert with all the **&&^^% snowbirds acting like a round of golf was an all day freaking event. #2 was this is a wonderful track when the wind isnt blowing, it wasnt, but,, the greens are a bit rough, dry, patchy, barren, bumpy, not toooo good.
But, besides all that had a good time, 6 hr round,,,,wont do that again, will get there early and have a better day. Staff was as usual very good to deal with... I would give them a couple of weeks to get the greens back to normal.....

Weird place, they are actually happy to see you. $39 senior rate is the BEST deal around, hadnt ben here for awhile, right after a good hard rain and the place was still in GREAT shape. We will be back soon....

A pleasant surprise. Had not played here for many years, the course is in great shape. Greens are semi fast, lush and tricky. Everything else is in very nice shape. The views are wonderful. Staff was on top of everything. I am not sure I would want to play the Hills weekly as the up and down hilly and sometimes unfair layout would not be condusive to fun {for me} after awhile. { But,, for a once in awhile round the place is in very nice condition and a fun test. Deacon Jones the ex Ram defensive end was there for a round,, felt lucky didnt get a head slap. Gotta be old to know what that means... I will not wait so long for the next run at Anaheim Hills..

Played twice this week. For a low key muni this is a fun test,, greens are a bit slow and bumpy but they are green and lush and the bare rings previously reported have been repaired. Fairways are sometimes bare but GUR takes care of that. Long par 4s and some fun par 3s make for a very nice, casual, inexpensive {$25} WEEKDAY round of golf. Staff is ALWAYS friendly, guys in pro shop are the best around. Pace of play even with a bit of drizzle and tourny nerves was decent. For tune up or a fun round this is a good place . Grass driving range.

Today 10 am shotgun, the Desert course is holding up very nicely in this windy, cold time of year,, staff as ALWAYS very professional, fairways are great, greens are sorta brown but putt well although a bit slow. They cant cut toooo short as the cold will kill them. Summer they are fast.... A very nice experience as usual.
As info: January 1st Terrible Group bought the Primm courses {Desert and Lakes from MGM} they do not have a liquor license as this date. Soon the gals in the restaurant hope. Staff advised the Terrible guys are doing everything right to keep this Fazio gem in great shape. Will be back soon.
One more thing.. for you folks traveling to Vegas, I have a super radar gizmo,, 16 CHP between Barstow and State Line. All with radar.

Food was very good.

Played tuesday 23, regular rates, smart, both tracks filled up. Others not doing as well. Course in really good shape. Greens are like a carpet, maybe a slow carpet but very smooth. fairways are best I have seen them in years. Staff is the best. Only bad thing that continues is cart paths are junky,bumpy and gotta tear up the nice carts before their time. A fun day on a fun track. Oh,, its not hard, but it will beat you up if your game is off. We will be back soon.

Last minute tee time, thurs 8:30 ,, staff was terrific, started on 10, this is a good thing as its a bit more open and a better warm up, makes the whole day better. Back 9 is tougher and more fun if you are loose. Greens are very good, smooth and tricky with some goofy mounds but the greens are this tracks main attraction. We had a 8ish tee time at Hidden Valley but Cheesburger advised the place was in dissaray so we cancelled and DL was inserted. Good move. Then we read bogeygolf's report that he or she thought HV was just great. But,, then we read his or her's fees were $15. So as I know Father Cheese and trust his judgment all is well. Dos Lagos is OK these days, great price for seniors and aboout halfway for me and friends. We will be back ....

Havent been here for awhile, forgot how much fun it is. It is an EASY track, but conditions are very nice. Greens are as usual great, but, ball marks everywhere. We tired of repairing soooo fixed the ones in our way. Staff was very professional, I rated this place as great, with reservations. If you are looking for a test, it isnt here. If you are looking for a nice day on the Links this is just the place. Bunkers are a bit soft for my taste, so I stayed out of them after the 1st one. A fun day. good service. My only gripe is this is supposed to be a medium upscale facility, seemed weird they were letting jeans and tee shirts out. We will be back, but not real soon.

Havent been here for awhile,, good news, Woods Valley is back in great shape. Greens are terrific, bunkers are filled with WHITE sand, they look terrific, fairways are almost in perfect shape. All the work is paying off. Still a tight test, still a tough driving course, but FUN. If you are in the area, I would for sure recommend teeing it up here. Staff as usual was terrific,, will return soon.

Place is in very nice shape, greens are smooth and tough to read, some quircky rolling mounds but fun and tough to putt on. Asked big guy in trailer if we were to start on #10, he said no, where did I hear that? I advised him I read it on this site, he said this site was always saying stuff that wasnt true about his course. Asked marshall on 1st hole if they started on #10 lately & marshall advised they did all last week. I dont think the big guy in trailer understands the number of folks that read this site. A good day of golf, not my favorite place but a good test. Only bad thing to report was they were spraying fertilizer and on #18 the guy sprayed me as I was hitting 2nd shot. That was fun! Front side was empty, back side was crowded, all those goofy hillside holes slow things down.

played Thurs AM, agree with mapa94 and cbcredit,below , course in good shape. Greens are in very good shape. Tee boxes need work. Fairways are good. Staff is as always friendly, burgers are very good. Fun track for the $$$$$. They do not plan to punch greens,, med speed.. we will return as long as regular stops have waffle greens. its just that time of year. It would be a good thing if they added a few truck loads of dirt to the fairways to smooth things out. Ya almost get a headache bouncing around on the crazy uneven terrain. But aside from that its cheap fun golf. And we think its slope is a bit low. It is a lot more difficult than a 116 from the whites. going back next week.
