Played at 8am on 6/20. Customer service is always top notch. Like many courses in the area, the greens are trying to make the transition from rye to bermuda (I believe) and as it is still early in the summer, the bermuda hasn't fully taken hold yet. So that is really the only knock - the greens have a little work to be done but they still rolled better than most muni courses I play in LA county. Fairways gave great lies and only had a few brown spots. Rough is fluffy and not penal, traps have well maintained sand, and the tee boxes are decent and level. Still a great course and should only improve as the summer rolls on. Pace of play was 4 hours.

Played on 05/10 at 0836. The course was very crowded but I didn't mind the pace too much. We waited but it moved along ok and we finished in about 4:45. Tee boxes are in decent shape. The fairways are also decent with just a few patchy areas. They are quite firm and run out quite a bit. The rough can be thick in some spots and patchy in others. I was not in any sand but my playing partners did not complain. Half the greens were aerated a couple weeks ago and they seem to be healing well. There is some inconsistency between green to green here, but overall they are in decent condition and roll smooth but bumpy at times. The brand new green (no longer a temp on #3) is in good condition but VERY SLOW.

Course is in great condition. Played on 05/09 and flew through the round in just under 4 hours. Played Canyon and Ridgeline. Tee boxes, fairways, sand traps are all great. The rough is actually pretty long and penile in some areas of the course. The greens look great and are rolling excellent. They're not as fast as I've seen but they are definitely not slow. Always great conditions here.

This course is quite serviceable to get your golf fix in, but I have seen parts in better condition. The tee boxes are always level and decently lush. The fairways are firm, tight, and have plenty of run. There is plenty of grass and I don't mind playing off of tight fairways. The bunkers need some TLC. I was in a greenside bunker on 9 and 18. Hardpan was underneath a tiny layer of sand on 9 and I caught my shot a little thin. Very disappointing condition of the trap. On 18 I learned my lesson and got a lot steeper on my sand shot with more power and that worked out much better. Greens were aerated recently and their coverage is fine, but they are rolling slow and pretty bumpy, which is also disappointing. Kinda like putting on shag carpeting. All in all, I've still got a place in my heart for this course.

Played on 05/03. It was very busy on this morning but pace of play moved right along in about 4.5 hours. This is one of the best, if not the best, public courses in the desert. A must play. I've never seen it better than this. Tee to green and everything in between is top notch and immaculate.

Played on 05/01 and the course was in near immaculate condition. Tee boxes are maybe the most average part of the course, and that's being really nit-picky, they're still nice. Fairways are in excellent condition. Rough is short but lush. Sand traps are in good shape, and the greens are rolling true and medium speed. I've only been playing Cimarron since this fall and I've now played it 5 or 6 times in the last six months and I've never been disappointed. I love this course.

Played Monday morning on 3/11. I can't say enough about this course. If the wind isn't blowing, which it wasn't it's right up there with SilverRock as my favorite course in the PS/PD/La Quinta area. I found the course to be in incredible condition, with near perfect tee boxes, fairways, and sand traps. They have really let some of the rough grow around the par 3's especially, some real US Open type stuff. The greens are in great shape. Running medium/fast and very smooth.

The bias on the greens is the break towards the south (grain faces south), so occasionally if you don't take that into account you'll be surprised by a putt that "breaks uphill."

I played the tips as usual, which by the card sound pretty intimidating at over 7,000 yards, but it's on the par 3's that this course makes up it's long distance. 5 par 3's that go with 5 par 5's on this course. From the tips on this day, the flag played the following distances on the par 3's: 190 (front pin), 251 (back pin), 165, 205 (front pin), and 240 back pin).

Tee time 1215 on 3/10. Played the Gary Player right after The Pete Dye for the great replay rate of $55, can't beat it. The Player is in fantastic shape. I had played the Dye a couple times but it was a real treat to play the player. The course felt like a cross between Mountain View and Firecliff over at Desert Willow. Tees, fairways, traps, greens, all near immaculate. Course is framed by dormant grass just like the Dye. Great layout for a resort course. I will definitely be back.

Played 3/10 at 730. After the time change the sun was right in our face on the first hole, but oh well. Tee boxes are in good shape, fairways and rough are very nice. The course, just like the Player, is lush and framed by brown dormant grass around it, which I enjoy. Traps are in very good shape and the greens are very good. Lots of undulations but not quite as fast as you would think, but very smooth.

Played twighlight on 3/8. You get the usual from this course, the tee boxes are inconsistent ranging from almost no grass to lush, depending on which tees you play from. The fairways are very playable, and the rough is inconsistent as well. The traps are still the worst I've seen in maybe not just LA county, but all of California. Put some sand in them, please. The greens were bumpy and slow. I was warned by the kid at the desk that the course recently slowed them down to increase pace of play. Well, they succeeded in slowing them down, but they were awful to putt on. POP was still slow even without there being many groups on the course. Walked it in about 4:45.

Played on 3/9 at about noon. Course looks great. Tee boxes are flat and have plenty of lush grass, fairways are the same. Rough was lush and very manageable. Greens were smooth and true with some ball mark damage. I wasn't in any sand but my playing partners were and they hit several good shots out of them. Only downside was pace of play. This course is usually known for a good POP but today wasn't the case. Checked in an hour before our tee time and the desk told us we'd be on time. Ended up going out a half hour late, then proceeded to have a wait on every tee box, with there being 2-3 groups on an box at a time, playing overall in about 5 hours 15 minutes.

Played 9am on 2/23. Course is in great condition. Tee boxes are next to perfect. Fairways are next to perfect, firm, and rolling quite a bit. Rough is maybe 1" and still gives great lies. Waste areas with tiny pebbles can be tough and tough on your clubs - so be careful. Sand traps were near perfect with plenty of sand and quite soft. Greens had almost no ball mark damage, were firm, and rolling fast and almost always true. Tough Pete Dye greens. Played the front 9 in moderate 1-2 club wind. By the turn though, the wind kicked up and was almost unplayable. The kind that knocks hats off and makes your ball oscillate on the green, just about ready to blow it off. Playing, at times, 4-4+ club difference. Made the back 9 harder to enjoy because it didn't feel like you were making shots anymore, just fighting everything. I'll definitely return to try the Snow and Sun, hopefully without the wind.
